The 5-day National Nutrition Forum 2024 has ended in Kampala with different stakeholders pledging commitment and action to fight malnutrition.
The 3rd deputy Prime Minister Lukia Nakadama represented the Prime Minister Robinah Nabamjja and urged stakeholders to scale up nutrition projects to reach the vulnerable population.

The National Forest Authority has partnered with the Electricity Regulatory Authority to restore the forest cover of at least 15 acres in Mabira upon evicting encroachers.
The collaboration intends to respond to the adverse impacts of climate change and ensure sustainable and reliable power generation.

Xavier Ejoyi, the Country Director of ActionAid Uganda, and other environmental activists are pushing for increased funding for agroecology and sustainable farming practices from government authorities in Uganda.
The call for action was highlighted through the streets of Kampala during a Climate Week Solidarity March organized under the theme "From Words to Action."

Uganda is moving to establish a White Sugar Production Plant in the Central District of Kayunga to cater for the beverage and pharmaceutical sectors.

The heavy rain that poured for five minutes in Mbale city yesterday evening has left the administrators of two government schools in a state of confusion after the hailstorm blew off the roofs of the schools.
According to the school administrators that included Ramadhan Ntege of Nkoma SS and Wambale Steve of Mbale High school, the disaster damaged computer laboratories and other structures ahead of school opening for second term.
They are now calling for government’s intervention as they have nowhere to place the learners.
Meanwhile, the Mbale city Senior Inspector of Schools Waluku John visited the affected schools and called for support from concerned ministries to rescue these schools

The First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports, Mrs. Janet Museveni, has flagged off eighteen (18) outstanding Ugandan students and instructors who are traveling to Shenzhen, China, to participate in the Huawei Global ICT Competition and Seeds for the Future Program.
The flagging-off ceremony was held at State House Nakasero. It was witnessed by, among others, the Chinese Ambassador to Uganda, H.E. Zhang Li Zhong, Huawei’s Managing Director Xie Qiuxiang, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education and Sports Ketty Lamaro, and officers from the Chinese Embassy, Huawei Technologies – Uganda and the Education Ministry.
Among the 18 are three students each from the Universities of Gulu, Kabale, and Muni, who are participating in the 2023/24 Huawei Global ICT Competition this month, the competition which will attract 17,000 students from 98 countries across the globe. Others include five students from Makerere University who are part of the ten scheduled to participate in the 2024 Seeds for the Future Program later this year.
Mrs. Janet Museveni lauded the outstanding students and the team of instructors for demonstrating a strong commitment to excellence.

Entebbe police are currently probing a devastating fire that tore through the home of Bakita Ayang, a South Sudanese national, resulting in the heartbreaking loss of six young lives.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the fire originated from an unattended electric kettle in the sitting room, connected to a socket, which is believed to have sparked the blaze.

The Minister of state for finance Lugolobi says the Uganda bureau of statistics has managed to enumerate 60 percent of the targeted households in the days of national population and housing census.
While addressing the media at Uganda media center in Kampala, Minister Lugolobi urged those households not yet counted to be patient and wait for the enumerators and he says he believes those not yet enumerated will be finished in the four days left for census.

The Rotary E club of Uganda Global is in Kyenjojo district impacting communities through the construction of classroom blocks.
This comes after an earthquake destroyed classroom blocks leaving pupils of Butiiti girls’ primary school studying from dilapidated structures.
