In today's video, I'll be discussing the recent controversial actions of Kotaku editor Alyssa Mercante. Mercante, in an alarming move, contacted Smash JT's wife via social media, which many have interpreted as an attempt to threaten his family. This behavior has sparked outrage and raised serious questions about journalistic ethics and personal boundaries. In my opinion, Alyssa Mercante owes Smash JT and his family a sincere apology for overstepping these boundaries and causing unnecessary distress. It's essential for journalists to uphold ethical standards and respect the privacy of individuals, even in the context of online discourse.

In recent years, the boundaries of journalistic ethics and the influence of media outlets have sparked significant debate. One such example is the transformation of Kotaku, a once-popular gaming news site, into what some perceive as a platform for political agendas rather than gaming news.

The blending of personal and professional boundaries at Kotaku has sparked concerns about the ethical implications of modern journalism. A recent incident involving Kotaku writer Alyssa Mercante has brought these concerns to the forefront. Mercante's unprovoked contact with a private individual, in this case, contacting Smash JT's wife via social media DMs, has raised questions about the acceptable limits of journalistic behavior.

Despite the gravity of the situation, Kotaku has not publicly commented on the incident or taken any visible action against Mercante, who continues to be employed by the outlet. This lack of accountability has only exacerbated the situation, leading to further threats and harassment.

As consumers of media, it is essential to not only evaluate the content but also consider the context and methods of journalistic practices. The incident involving Alyssa Mercante underscores the need for a reevaluation of ethical standards in journalism, particularly in the digital age where personal boundaries can easily be crossed in..

Second Wind Co-Founder Nick Calandra Labels Sweet Baby Inc. Curator List Followers as “Bigots,” Threatens Physical Confrontation Against Anti-Wokeness Opponents

A screenshot purportedly from Calandra’s Second Wind Discord, shared on the Kotaku In Action subreddit, reveals Calandra's comments from March 13, 2024. He stated, “I’ve managed to convince some folks to see how foolish they’re being. It’s possible. But right now these individuals are just trolling, trying to paint everyone calling them out as the ‘actual’ racists lol – while they’ve joined a curator group that might as well be named ‘I’m a bigot.’”

He further added, “Before taking over The Escapist, I did my homework. Most of this nonsense originates from the same dweebs who run the KotakuInAction subreddit, and sometimes I’m more than happy to remind people from that sub that nobody will ever love them lol.”

In another message, he wrote, “Some folks in my replies are like – wow, that was harsh! And I’m like, yeah, these are the kinds of people that if they said any of this stuff to me at a bar, I would happily get kicked out for knocking them out.” The screenshot surfaced on the KotakuInAction subreddit after former World of Warcraft Team Lead Mark Kern, aka Grummz, accused Calandra of doxing him and his family, calling for Calandra to be banned from X, YouTube, Discord, and Patreon.

Mark Kern, aka Grummz, the founder of the #FreeStellarBlade movement, has been doxxed. Grummz is calling for Second Wind co-founder and Editor-in-Chief Nick Calandra to be banned from X, YouTube, Discord, and Patreon for his involvement in the doxxing.

In a post on X, Grummz wrote, “I just got doxxed. My family has been doxxed. Second Wind and former EIC of Escapist, Nick Calandra @jnickjcal, has weaponized his Discord server and is encouraging his thousands of Patreon supporters to dox me. They did.”

He continued, “And unlike certain other journalists who don’t post receipts, I will. My addresses were posted, among ot..

Welcome to another video. Today, there's some news about Alyssa Mercante, the infamous Kotaku journalist, who is now threatening to sue Smash JT. Yes, she's threatening to sue him for talking about a situation that, to me, is more than a little odd.

You see, there are situations where you might feel there's defamation or tangible harassment, but if you've followed the incidents since Smash JT started the #EndKotaku campaign, you'd see the sequence of events: her getting upset to the point of contacting his wife, trying to cause strife in their relationship, him talking about that in a video, and now, her threatening to sue him. It's hard to make sense of it all. Any rational person can see what's going on, but that doesn't stop the madness when someone with the reach and influence of Kotaku's employee is involved.

What's particularly interesting is that she picks on a channel like Smash JT's, with about 25,000 subscribers and a handful of members. He's a nobody in the grand scheme of YouTube, yet the truth he speaks and the facts he presents seem to affect her deeply. It's ironic that she, who once messaged Smash JT's wife to harass and threaten his family because of the videos he makes about her, now plays the victim. She tries to silence him with a lawsuit, but it's laughable. She has no case.

Alyssa Mercante is a cry bully, plain and simple. She dehumanizes herself by her actions and then blames others when they call her out. She tries to use her position at Kotaku to make people believe her narrative, but the truth always comes out. Smash JT is just a YouTuber reporting on what's happening. He's not creating websites or contacting family members. He's simply sharing the facts.

Her claim that he emboldens people to harass her is hysterical, coming from a journalist who fails to tell the full story. She says he dehumanizes her in his videos by showing her own tweets, yet she refuses to take accountability for her actions. Several lawyers have been consulted,..

Microsoft recently announced significant changes to their Bethesda and ZeniMax teams, with the closure of several studios and a shift in focus towards high-impact franchises. This decision, according to Microsoft, stems from a "reprioritization of titles and resources" to invest more deeply in Bethesda's portfolio of blockbuster games and beloved worlds.

Among the studios affected are Arkane Austin, Alpha Dog Studios, and Tango Gameworks, with Roundhouse Games being realigned to ZeniMax Online Studios. The impact of these changes is substantial. Development on Redfall has been abruptly ended, leaving players with an incomplete game. Mighty Doom, another title from Alpha Dog Studios, will also be sunset, with no further updates planned.

Despite the closures and realignments, Microsoft has stated that they will provide support, including severance benefits, to affected employees. They have also highlighted their future game lineup, which includes highly anticipated titles like Starfield: Shattered Space, Fallout 76: Skyline Valley, Indiana Jones in the Great Circle, and The Elder Scrolls Online: Golden Road.

However, these announcements have raised questions about Microsoft's decision-making and management. There is a sense of distrust among some observers, particularly regarding the handling of Redfall. The closure of studios that were known for their innovation and creativity, such as Arkane Austin and Tango Gameworks, has left many wondering about the future of new intellectual properties (IPs) under the Xbox umbrella.

While some may see the focus on established franchises like Fallout and Elder Scrolls as a positive, there are concerns about the lack of new IP development. The optics of shutting down studios known for creating new and unique experiences while focusing on existing franchises may not bode well for the future.

In conclusion, Microsoft's recent announcements regarding the changes to their Bethesda and ZeniMax teams have sparked mixed reactions...

We'll discuss the disturbing nature of these threats and how they highlight a concerning undercurrent within gaming culture. Vivian's Transgender Identity Confirmed in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door Remake? Nintendo’s remake of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door has brought significant changes to the beloved game, most notably confirming Vivian, the mustachioed plumber's flame-wielding ally, as transgender. Ever since the original game debuted in 2004, Vivian's exact identity has been a topic of hot debate. The game used vague language, leaving Nintendo’s exact intent for the character unclear.

In the original Japanese release, during her first encounter with Mario, Vivian introduces herself and her fellow Shadow Sirens as the “Shadow Sisters.” Her sister Beldam angrily corrects her, saying, “You’re a man, aren’t you?!!!!!!” This led many to believe Vivian was always intended to be transgender. Others thought Vivian was a feminine male, reinforced by the Japanese version of 2007’s Super Paper Mario, which described Vivian using the term ‘Otokonoko’ (オトコのコ), typically used for male-to-female cross-dressers and extremely feminine boys.

Thanks to new lines of dialogue in the remake, this uncertainty about Vivian's identity is gone. In a video review published by Nintendo Life, confirmation of Vivian’s transgender identity is provided by Vivian herself just before she joins Mario’s party.

Now, however, Vivian says, “Hey, that’s OK! Don’t worry about my problems… I’m not sure I really want to stay with my sisters anymore, anyway. We aren’t very happy together. Truth is, it took me a while to realize I was their sister… not their brother. Now their usual bullying feels heavier.”

Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door Censorship Causes Outrage. In addition to Vivian's confirmation as transgender, the remake of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door has also faced criticism for other changes in dialogue. About a month ago, it was reported that certain scenes had been heavily altered, changing the context of those scenes.

One example involves Bowser. Known for being a villain who kidnaps wo..

In today's video, we’re diving deep into the latest Square Enix restructuring news and their shift to a multiplatform strategy. Square Enix is stepping away from exclusivity and expanding to Nintendo platforms, PlayStation, Xbox, and PCs. This big change comes after disappointing sales from major PS5 titles, and there's a lot to unpack.

Yesterday, we touched on how Square Enix’s new business plan focuses less on exclusives. Today, we’ll discuss why this is happening. Recent reports confirm that PS5 games like Final Fantasy 16, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, and Foam Stars underperformed, failing to meet Square Enix’s internal targets. These AAA titles didn’t reach their expected sales, impacting both Square Enix and Sony significantly.

Bloomberg's article by Mochizuki reveals that while initial sales for these games were promising, they quickly lost momentum. This sales decline has led to serious repercussions, including planned layoffs in Square Enix’s European and American divisions. Interestingly, Japanese divisions remain unaffected, highlighting differences in labor laws and business practices.

We’ll explore why Triple-A game development costs are becoming unsustainable and how this shift is impacting the industry. Development costs are skyrocketing, making it harder for games to turn a profit. Unlike the PS2 or PS3 eras, where risks could be taken and smaller games could succeed, today’s market demands high sales just to break even.

We’ll also touch on Sony’s latest financial report, revealing a dip in PS5 system sales year-over-year, and the appointment of a new two-headed CEO for PlayStation, including Herman Holst. With the gaming industry facing many challenges, from underperforming games to rising development costs and shifting market strategies, it’s a critical time for gamers and developers alike.

Why isn't Final Fantasy 7 Remake on Xbox yet? Why are development times getting longer with new hardware demands? And how does this affect the future of gami..

Men are the problem for gaming. Men are the problem with the gaming community. Unhinged E-Girl Jhanna has recently posted a rant on social media, claiming that men have ruined gaming. Her video has sparked a lot of controversy, and it's so ridiculous that we need to break it down. Then we'll look at another clip from this person that takes it to a whole new level of absurdity. Let's jump into it. The video starts with the claim that "Men are the problem in the gaming community." Let's hear what she has to say.

First, the argument that "she wouldn't last 10 minutes in a CoD lobby" isn't an excuse for men to act like jerks. This isn't a gender-specific issue; gamers use this phrase for anyone. If you don't get that, it's your problem, not ours. Trying to frame it as a gender-specific insult is just wrong.

She says, "I shouldn't have to play a game where all I say is 'Hi' and the whole game is thrown because men are being emotional about it." That's exactly how old CoD lobbies were. If you deny that, you're lying. In those days, any sign of weakness was pounced on. Guys would even pretend to be girls just to provoke a reaction.

The reality is that in old CoD lobbies, anything that could be used against you was fair game. Having a Southern accent? I was constantly called a cousin-f***er. Guys with lisps got it even worse. It didn't matter who you were, everyone got roasted.

She claims, "As a man, you've never had someone throw a game based on your gender." That's false. Men face their own unique challenges in these lobbies. But somehow, our experiences don't count.

She says men need to intervene and stop other men from being toxic. So, men are the problem, but also the solution? That's contradictory. Plus, she assumes women can't handle the rough environment of gaming lobbies, which is patronizing.

And the idea that men want to be oppressed is ridiculous. We talk more trash to each other than to any woman. The issue is the double standard: we get banned for sayi..

Stellar Blade PS5 Quietly Adds Uncensored Costumes Amid Controversy: Fans Speak Out
Stellar Blade has been at the center of controversy since its launch, with a day one patch altering several of Eve's outfits in the game. Many fans believed that Korean developer Shift Up had been pressured by Sony to censor the character, despite other revealing outfits remaining in the game. The studio insisted that the changes were intentional, though it acknowledged the difficulty in convincing fans.

In a surprising turn, Shift Up has quietly added two new extremely revealing outfits as part of its Boss Challenge patch, which were not communicated prior to the update. These new outfits seem to be a response to the backlash and a nod to the ongoing #freestellarblade movement, which advocates against censorship in the game.

Upon installing the update, players automatically unlock the Black Kunoichi and White Kunoichi outfits. Additionally, the Neurolink Suit can be obtained by defeating all opponents in the new mode. However, the update also includes the Midsummer Alice and Midsummer Redhood outfits, which can be purchased from Roxanne in Xion, a fact that was not mentioned in the patch notes.

The #freestellarblade movement has been gaining traction, with fans pushing back against perceived censorship and advocating for artistic freedom. This latest update appears to be an attempt by Shift Up to address these concerns while maintaining a balance between creative vision and fan expectations.

Fans have mixed reactions to these changes. Some view the new outfits as a positive step towards addressing their concerns, while others remain skeptical about the studio's intentions. The addition of these costumes without prior communication has fueled further discussion about transparency and the influence of major publishers on game content.

In a recent statement, Sony announced that an in-game graffiti referencing a racial slur in Stellar Blade will be patched out in the game’s day-o..

It's incredibly hypocritical of Alyssa Mercante to act like a victim now, considering she just messaged Smash JT's wife last week in an attempt to harass and threaten his family over the videos he makes about her. Alyssa's behavior is a classic case of dishing out what she can't take—she's quick to engage in harassment herself but cries foul when faced with similar actions. Her lack of self-awareness and accountability is astonishing, especially when she's directly responsible for initiating this cycle of harassment. This double standard only underscores her inability to handle the consequences of her own actions.

So, what's going on here? Alyssa Mercante is back in the news for reasons she'd rather avoid. It seems her sister's website has been hacked, or the domain has been purchased and is now being used to harass her. While I do not condone this behavior towards anyone for any reason, I can’t help but find some irony in the situation. It feels like the consequences of her actions are coming back to haunt her.

First off, let me clarify that I don’t support harassment of any kind. I woke up this morning to a shout-out from Master of TDS, who shared that someone bought Alyssa's sister's domain name and is emailing her for comments on Alyssa’s actions. Alyssa tweeted, “Some chud paid for my sister's domain name and is emailing her and me for comment on ‘my actions’. Tell me again how this isn’t a harassment campaign comprised of obsessive losers with too much free time.”

It's fascinating how Alyssa can’t see that her own actions are creating the chaos in her life. The entire reason this is happening is because she invited it, and I don't want that to be overlooked. She’s been provoking people to bring this on her just to play the victim when something goes wrong.
