Why Is It So Windy in Alamosa, Colorado?

* Is It Windy in the San Luis Valley?
* Is It Windy in Colorado?
* Weather in Alamosa, Colorado
Welcome back to the Nash Potatoes Outdoor Show!
Here's the wind data for the airport in Alamosa: https://www.windalert.com/spot/1096
I'm currently camping about 7 miles east of Alamosa, CO while I finish building my house in Blanca.
What I'm beginning to realize is that Alamosa is an extremely windy city. It's actually super annoying and is beginning to work my last nerve. So, I decided to do some research about the average wind speeds in the San Luis Valley of southern Colorado.
There are 6 wind measurement devices in this area that I wanted to show you. My data comes from the website of WindAlert.com, which I find to be more accurate than other sources. Even though these 6 cities are located fairly close together (and aren't separated by any mountains), the average wind speeds vary dramatically!
First, let me show you the six areas I'm gonna talk about. I'm gonna go left to right and top to bottom as if you were reading a book.
What you want to look for in these graphs are the red bars. Those are the annoying windy days of 25 mph and above.
1. Monte Vista
2. West Alamosa
3. Alamosa (airport)
4. Blanca
5. La Jara
6. San Acacio (8 miles west of San Luis)
