As she works her way around the Gates in the wall built by Nehemiah when Israel returned for a relatively short time to her homeland to bring forth the worlds Messiah, Ps Kathy considers the Water Gate, and equates it with the Word of God (The Holy Bible) which nourishes and supplies every Christian with essential Spiritual sustenance that can be obtained in no other way. Today's message is drawn from I Corinthians chapter 13, which makes it clear that the most important, irreducible and vital aspect of our relationship to God - and to each other - is Love.
Faith and hope fall a long way behind and will ultimately disappear altogether, while love is eternal; so why is it that so much Christian teaching overemphasizes Faith, in particular, when Christianity is a solid relationship with God built on Love; it is not merely a hope built only on faith.

The most incredible day humanity has ever experienced was Resurrection Sunday, when the fullness of what Jesus came to do for us was made manifest, first by His resurrection from the dead, demonstrating the Truth of His Words and the final fulfillment of His mission, then by the glorious revelation of the Gospel to a doubting world - first to Mary who took it to the disciples, then gradually out into the four corners of the Earth from then on. This week I present the Scriptural basis for women operating in a whole and complete God-ordained role alongside the men in the Christian Church.

For two long, by ignoring a multitude of examples throughout both the Old and New Testaments of women called by God into various and often very senior roles, and by applying enormous weight to just two New Testament passages whilst conveniently totally ignoring the contexts of those same two verses, many have implanted and/or have sustained the idea that, to a greater or lesser extent, women are to remain silent in the church and never be granted recognition as ministers of God's Word in their own right.

My prayer is that this lesson will go a long way towards bringing clarification and understanding to each viewer of what these two verses actually mean, alongside examples of how God has often called, equipped and placed many women in senior roles in both Israel and the Christian church in it's infancy as recorded in the Holy Bible (and we look at only a handful of Scriptural examples - there are many more) and why the patriarchal and misogynistic viewpoint that women must never be allowed to discharge their ministries in the church is false and is built upon the shakiest of foundations of ignorance and tradition which are not in any way in accord with Gods Word and will.
