Odd Voicemails, Volume 8 - Federal Criminal Offense

A scam voicemail that I've been getting quite a bit recently. They claim to have a warrant out against the recipient of the call, and that you'll be required to appear before a Magistrate judge or grand jury for a federal criminal offense. Here's the text of the message...

"For suspicious and fraudulent activities carried out using your identity. The court has issued a suspension notice along with the war and against your name ignoring. This message will be an intentional second attempt to avoid initial appearance before a Magistrate Judge or grand jury for a federal criminal offense. This is the final attempt to reach you. The Dirt Cheap Teleprompter

This is, by far, the most cheap, easy, teleprompter ever made. It literally took me like 10-15 minutes to put together! And it works perfectly!

Skyrim Livestream [Part 1 - The Beginning]

This was streamed on YouTube on July 10, 2017.

This is part 1 of what I hope will be a multi-part series of livestreams I make playing The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. This is my first time doing a livestream, so I'm still getting used to using the chat and playing the game, as well as trying to keep things interesting. Hopefully you enjoyed this, and thanks to those who tuned in!

In this episode, I started a brand new game. I finished off with getting the Dragonstone from Bleak Falls Barrow, returning to Whiterun, then discovering that there's a dragon attacking. When I pick up next time, we will be battling the dragon and I will be able to unlock my first shout, "Unrelenting Force."

Atheism and the Burden of Proof

I've noticed that lately one of the big points of contention between Theists and Atheists has been that of who must shoulder the burden of proof. Are Atheists obligated to demonstrate that God doesn't exist? Is it really a defensible claim to state that God does not exist? Is it possible to demonstrate such a claim?

Lately I've been struggling with this issue, but I'm coming to the conclusion that I may have been deluding myself, and that the whole thing is really a non-issue. Let me explain what I mean.

I received this call on 9/26/2012. Because I use Google Voice for my voicemails, it automatically got sent to my spam folder, so I didn't even hear it until I checked that folder today. The call is from a place called "Diabetic Help," apparently from Thousand Oaks, CA. Not sure how they got my number, but they're offering me a free, pain-free diabetic meter. No one in my house is diabetic.

A weird call from a guy named "Prophet Manasseh Jordan." He wanted me to join his "prayer closet" so he could pray for me non-stop. That's a nice offer, but no thanks.

Metaphor, Nothingness, And The Afterlife

Revelation 21:2

2 And I John saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

Revelation 21:10-11

10 And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God,

11 Having the glory of God: and her light was like unto a stone most precious, even like a jasper stone, clear as crystal.

Metaphor is significant to us for many reasons. One of the most significant of these reasons is to aid in the understanding of complex concepts or ideas. In this case, to say that a city is like a jasper stone, as clear as a crystal is to merely convey an idea for which there is no literal, accurate description.

In John's account, we learn that not only is Heaven like a woman adorned for her husband, but also like a valuable jewel, clear as a crystal. Now, obviously Heaven isn't a woman dressed in fancy clothes, who also happens to be made of jasper, as clear as a crystal. This is a metaphor meant solely to hint at something which cannot be described.

Odd Voicemails, Volume 1 - The iPhone Lover

A new series I'm doing of some of the strange voicemails I receive. I use Google Voice for my voicemail, so I'm able to directly download the audio files of the mail I receive.

This call was from a guy who apparently dialed my phone number without knowing it and was carrying on a conversation with someone about iPhones...

"It'd just be way easier if I had an iPhone. I don't know like hook up to my computer so my phone and my computer could make sweet, sweet love. Huh? No, I'd have, like, little nano babies. Uh, they're not a tax write-off."

Apparently, this guy is a big fan of Apple's iPhone. Now, I'm just curious if he had the iPhone 3, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, or iPhone 4S. Obviously, the iPhone 5 wasn't out yet. I'd considered calling the number back and asking, but not sure how that conversation would go. haha
