The Battle of Gazala in 1942 was Rommel’s most important battle, and one of the worst defeats in British history, especially for the Royal Tank Regiment. The British 8th Army deployed over 900 tanks in this battle, but was left with just a handful by the end of it. However, Rommel was also close to defeat too and Gazala could have ended in total disaster for him had the British not dropped the ball. Using detailed maps and animations, this video goes over the complete history of the battle, supported by 57 historical sources and 742 citations at the bottom of the screen.

ABOUT TIK 📝

History isn’t as boring as some people think, and my goal is to get people talking about it. I also want to dispel the myths and distortions that ruin our perception of the past by asking a simple question - “But is this really the case?”. I have a 2:1 Degree in History and a passion for early 20th Century conflicts (mainly WW2). I’m therefore approaching this like I would an academic essay. Lots of sources, quotes, references and so on..

Just an update on Gazala.

Some still paint the clash between Hitler and Ernst Röhm as a clash between two distinct ideologies, whereas the reality is far more intriguing. So this video provides evidence for the reason Adolf Hitler initiated the Night of the Long Knives in 1934.

Marxist-influenced historians and the supporters of totalitarian central planning have often repeated the conspiracy theory that Hitler was funded into power by a secret cabal of capitalists. Their "evidence" for this nonsense is dubious at best, and despite the fact that historian Henry Ashby Turner exposed the lie in 1985, and despite the fact that the majority of historians now begruggingly accept the facts, "socialists" are still pushing this narrative, as is Wikipedia. So today, we're going to look at the "evidence" and see exactly why the Marxist narrative is wrong once again.

A number of historians have concluded that "Hitler privatized the industries" based purely on the fact that he sold some stocks in the companies. Yes, this would make sense in a normal 'market' economy, but in the totalitarian economy of the Third Reich, this wasn't "privatization" in any sense of the word, and this video will explain why. We'll be explaining what the Betriebsgemeinschaft was, the role of the Betriebsführer and Gefolgschaft, as well as show what happened to the Deutsche Bank and the Reichsbahn, Hjalmar Schacht, Fritz Thyssen and Wilhelm Keppler.

In the post-truth age, how can you know what's true or false? Can we get to the truth? Is everything fake news and propaganda? How do we tell what is a lie? Is history even possible? Well, under the current subjectivist theory of history, the only answer is 'no'. History does not work... But we're going to change that today.

The end is here! The 6th Army surrenders, and Paulus is captured.

ERROR: There's an editing mistake. The date in the corner doesn't update and stays the 31st of January. Sorry about that. Obviously the 6th Army surrendered on the 2nd of February.

It's often said there were two pockets at Stalingrad. But it turns out there might have been a third! We'll see the Stalingrad pocket get split into two, or three, and some of the German divisions begin to surrender against the onrush of Soviet divisions.

With Paulus's 6th Army stalled near Kalach, Hermann Hoth's 4th Panzer Army is ordered to strike towards Stalingrad. This move splits the Soviet 51st Army in two and forces the Soviets to improvise a southern defense of the region. As a result, Vasily Chuikov is given a new command - over the 64th Army's Southern Operational Group. Chuikov attempts to form a line as the chaos overwhelms the men of the 208th Rifle Division.

The Soviet Union was in deep trouble during the Battle of Stalingrad Campaign. Their economy was on the brink of collapse, with food rations at starvation levels. On the 28th of July 1942, Stalin implements his infamous Order 227, which is welcomed by the troops fighting at the Great Bend of the Don River. Paulus's 6th Army manages to consolidate its positions, but can it prevent Group Zhuravlev from breaking out of its pocket? Let's find out.

The Battle of Stalingrad was the largest land battle in World War II. It was also the longest - an epic seven month campaign lasting from the 21st of July 1942 to the 2nd of February 1943. The fighting for the city has become infamous for its intensity, yet many have forgotten that the battle started outside of the city in July 1942 as Fall Blau (Case Blue) was reaching its zenith. By the 25th of July 1942, Paulus's 6th Army had broken through the 62nd Army's lines and had reached the Don Bend near Kalach. Under Stalin's watchful eye, Moskalenko's 1st Tank Army and Kriuchenkin’s 4th Tank Army were ordered to mount a counterattack in order to destroy Wietersheim’s 14th Panzer Corps. Will the Soviet tank armies be able to complete this task? Let's find out.

This channel is all about history. I create "filthy detailed and super-accurate" World War 2 documentaries. Check out my BATTLESTORM documentaries (e.g. Market Garden, or Crusader). More are on their way (Courland and Stalingrad).

Videos every Monday at 5pm GMT.
