That said, if they continue to make such polished B movie fare as this then long may their reign continue!! This is how you take a small budget and make a big statement!! Adkins has turned in his best performance to date by far!! Johnson has created a genre piece for the ages although a lot of credit goes to Lorentz in the editing. The fight scenes in this absolutely nailed the tone of the story, they weren't flash spin kicks or any over-the-top Tae Kwon Do, Luke Lafontaine was spot on in this respect, just brutal on-screen carnage!! I like Tim Man's choreography in previous Johnson/Adkins efforts but it would have been unrealistic in this. All the actors involved were solid, Fairbrass included, which I never thought I would say. In summary,, this film both cracks bones and should allow Adkins and Johnson to crack into bigger and better things

Avengement: Not horror as such but certainly horrific. Cain (Scott Adkins) feels that he has been betrayed/abandoned by his crime boss brother after he is imprisoned. On compassionate release, he beats up his guards and escapes. He holds his brother's gang at gunpoint in a pub and the back story unfolds. A truly savage tale, non-stop fights and attacks in prison leave Cain scarred mentally and physically but he's a MMA and survives but continuously has his sentence extended. The prison violence is the least of the horrors in this film though as hands are chopped off with an axe and a foot shot off etc. Not for the squeamish or faint of heart.

"Imposter" is an entertaining, old-fashioned action Sci-Fi flick, based on a Philip K. Dick story that I had to track down in an out-of-print book because I wasn't 100% sure I got the final twist.
A good cast of Gary Sinise, Madeline Stowe in her usual wife role, Vincent D'Onofrio in an unusual sort of bad guy role, and Mekhi Phifer, I believe in his first non-teen role.
The futuristic special effects and constant chase scenes are ably handled by a director formerly of TV's "Homicide."

This movie has gotten a bad rap mostly from folks who didn't get it. Of all the films based on Philip K. Dick's stories, this one is most true to the plot line. And as a fan of Philip K. Dick, I give this movie a lot of credit for that. He visualizes a dark, grim future world at war with aliens and the fear and confusion that comes from the impostor accusations. The movie reflects that very well. Sinise is excellent, Stowe is pretty and sensual as usual and D'Onofrio is over the top - as usual. It has a good cast, good photography, and an interesting set design.
I give the movie high marks and recommend it, especially to any fans of Philip K Dick.

——Flick Review:——
Well made and original - pretty good. Certainly something different - a religious-based 'sci-fi' drama. Sin Eater, as it's known in the UK, is a complicated story of love, fate, realization, and a hint of gothic underworld religion thrown in. As Alex, the main character, is informed his mentor has died, he gets drawn into something that could alter his destiny. Without wanting to give away the entire plot Sin Eater is a movie that takes risks - it's not afraid of its take on religion and is filmed with panache, boasts good performances, and some effective cinematography. Fine effort.

As they hunt down and kill one notorious gangster after another, they become controversial folk heroes in the community. But Paul Smecker (Dafoe), an eccentric FBI agent, is fast closing in on their blood-soaked trail.
After Irish-American brothers Connor McManus (Sean Patrick Flanery) and Murphy MacManus (Norman Reedus) cheat death with the Russian mob a day after St. Patrick's Day, the two decide to voluntarily stay overnight at a police station, where they receive what appears to be a message from God to rid Boston of all evil. Connor and Murphy, with the aid of their friend Rocco (David Della Rocco), set out on numerous campaigns to rid Boston of lowlifes and mafiosos, leaving behind a path of destruction. Meanwhile, F.B.I. Agent Paul Smecker (Willem Dafoe) is tasked with investigating the aftermath of each mission conducted by the MacManus brothers and Rocco. The more pieces Smecker fits into the puzzle, the more he asks himself: Should he continue his job and possibly arrest the trio, or join them in their mission to destroy evil?

I've always enjoyed non-linear storytelling. Several people seem to have picked up on this aspect of the movie and thus dubbed it similar to Pulp Fiction (though no one mentions Reservoir Dogs) when this movie takes non-linear storytelling to a level beyond where Quentin Tarantino was ever able to go.

Now, certainly Memento came along afterward and transformed the entire art of non-linear storytelling. However, Memento uses it to keep the movie watcher guessing until the very end, whereas Boondock Saints puts the pieces on the table, letting you try to put them together, but then will continue handing you pieces until the picture becomes clearer.

Clearly the movie is designed to be over-the-top, both from Willem Dafoe's character to the action sequences themselves. Willem Dafoe makes this movie for me. The plot, which centers on religiously-inspired vigilante justice, has an air of being somewhat cliched, although I would be hard-pressed to name another movie that handles it in this matter.

I still fail to see how others consider this movie vacuous and without meaning when its message about the pitfalls of our current legal system and the need for something that transcends it is quite clear. I thought the ending, in which various people are interviewed about their opinion of the "Saints" and how for some vigilante justice was an incredibly sensitive issue, made this point very clear.

Years later, on a hunting trip, they are overtaken by a blizzard, a vicious storm in which something much more ominous moves.
They shelter a man, who has been lost for days in the woods in the middle of a still-continuing blizzard. The man has odd marks on his face. As they discover the awful truth of what he is infected with, the military attempts to quarantine an alien virus as a result of an alien crash landing. The friends discover that the town they're vacationing in is plagued unusually by parasitic aliens from outer space.
The four friends must survive the alien infection and overpower a crazed military admiral who prepares to wipe out the whole Jefferson Tract to contain the alien infection. Challenged to stop an alien force, the friends must first prevent the slaughter of innocent civilians by a military vigilante, and then overcome a threat to the bond between them. In the end, they confront an unparalleled horror, with the fate of the world in the balance.

This Stephen King adaptation is underrated, it does have its flaws, it's a mishmash of many things and in some sense, it fails to find its bearings. But that is only on the surface, in all its weirdness there is a sense. Hard to grasp and see at first, I revisited this movie almost a decade later. I didn't recall this movie to be anything impressive or mind-blowing. Yep upon a recent viewing, I find myself pleasantly surprised by this flick. Dreamcatcher isn't Stephen King's best book by a long shot. The four main actors gave stellar performances, and John Seale's cinematography is simply perfect for this. Damian Lewis is simply a genius in his role.

'Tai Chi Master' a.k.a 'Twin Warriors' 📽 (1993) | "A legendary encounter."

📽 Plot: Two friends, ex-Shaolin monks, part ways as they brush with the ongoing rebellion against the government. The ambitious one rises up to be a powerful military commander, while his betrayed friend resorts to learning the calm ways of Tai Chi.
Junbao (Jet Li) is a monk who grows up in a Shaolin temple with his friend Tienbao. Their friendly competition to see who is stronger frequently gets them into trouble. At a competition for promotion to a higher place in Shaolin, Tienbao almost kills another student for cheating and using a concealed weapon. After a disagreement with a master, who refuses to believe Tienbao, a fight erupts which results in Junbao and Tienbao being expelled from the temple. Having lived in a temple their entire lives, they have trouble adapting to the outside world and eventually gets mixed up with local rebels who frequently steal from a corrupt governor and give the proceeds back to the poor. Tienbao, who was always very ambitious and competitive, gets tired and disillusioned by their new lifestyle, accepts an offer by the governor to join his army. The two childhood friends reluctantly decide to go their separate ways. Seeing an opportunity to secure a promotion in the army, Tienbao sets a trap for Junbao and the rebels by giving them false information. Many rebels are killed in the ensuing battle and Junbao, in disbelief that his friend would betray him, temporarily loses his mind. He only recovers by discovering the art of Tai Chi with the help of his friends and a book that his former master had given him before leaving Shaolin. In a showdown, Junbao kills Tienbao after realizing his boyhood friend is beyond salvation. *I figure I'd write a summary that isn't written in broken English.*—Adam Hsieh

A truly great 90's actioner - treble_head11 May 2004
It's not Drunken Master, (not the Legend of Drunken Master, the original, noodge), but what is? It is a well made tale of an ousted Shaolin monk who through hardship and madness, learns the ultimate taoist T'ai Chi Chuan.

The thing I love about this film, (and you'd have to be a geek to go with this} but I love the fact that he learns T'ai Chi through his hardships, not from a sifu (teacher), and the typical sifu or friend who dies is his friend, who, instead of dying, turns evil with power.

The entire movie is a great representation of Taosism (yin, yang, good and evil}. I don't agree that Michelle Yeoh (or Michelle Kahn at she time in the film) was not well used. She provided the idea of the easy path, drinking in this case, that is so lacking in gong fu movies. She and he both redeem themselves against the head bad guy (His character name escapes me at the time}, but there is no love interest between them. She's tough and troubled, he's tough and troubled and they help each other (read: she stops drinking to save him, he learns from her care and she helps cure his madness).

By the way, the head bad guy, (again, sorry about the name} was still played brilliantly even in dubbing. My friends and I still say "Hmmmmm" in his fey evil voice when thinking bad thoughts. It can be said it's typical Hong Kong fare... The good guy gets defeated, learns a new style of Gong Fu, and defeats the bad guy, but then again, isn't that what Star Wars took 3 films to accomplish?

Anyway, my opinion of this film is tainted by the fact that I'm a Taoist, but the action is top-notch, nobody flies for no reason, all the characters (even the comic relief) are fleshed out. great film. not the greatest, but, it's a hell of a lot better than "Shaolin Drunken Monk" (aka, Plan 9 from the Shaolin Temple) lol.

This is one of my all-time favourite Jet Li films, and I've seen all but 4 of them (that have been released anyways). I thought the plot was VERY good and the acting was top notch too. The fight scenes were very good and well...it was just amazing. Most importantly, an incredible rarity, it didn't have a kid who annoyed the hell out of me! Quite an impressive feat.

I finally managed to get my hands on a copy of this movie, and all I can say is WOW! Wow, because I didn't understand what the hell was going on for the whole movie, the subtitles were so badly misaligned. But mainly WOW! because it didn't matter a jot that I couldn't tell what the plot was as the film is just one amazing "fight" scene after another. This film defies belief and description. If you like martial arts movies, check this out. If you enjoyed Crouching Tiger, check this out. If you love MAD films check this out.
There is a scene in which Jet Li fights the mother of the woman he has a crush on entirely on the HEADS of a crowd! Then HIS mother fights with the first woman. From the opening scene you will see that this is a piece of genius. The plot doesn't matter. This is pure spectacle.
When you see these people move you will realize that the USA can never invade China. They just have all the tricks in the book. They wrote the tricks. I wish I had seen this when I was 9. It would have changed my life.

Complications arise when the bodyguard and the witness must confront their deep feelings for one another.
A martial arts expert is employed as a bodyguard to a powerful businessman's girlfriend who is the sole witness to a murder. While trying to keep their relationship on a professional level and stay out of danger, the bodyguard and witness find themselves increasingly attracted to one another.

John Chang is sent from Bejing to protect the only witness to a murder, Michelle Yeung. However, as the two get in deeper and deeper into the fight for survival, they start to get feelings that could spell doom for both of them.
Jet Li was some 4 years away from becoming a world star as opposed to his standing in Asia, his pre-American efforts are a highly mixed bunch. Here with The Defender, we find Li oozing cool and delighting in the art of chop sockery and intricate gunplay, but strip away the action and we are left with a pretty empty film. It's a standard fable of a bodyguard protecting a pretty girl (the delicious Christy Chung) and after the initial resentments subside, we find our duo falling in too deep and putting all at risk within their world. However, the action (the point of these pictures as we know) delivers royally, particularly in the last quarter where the ante goes through the roof and the testo level follows it, it's here where Li and the rest of the grafters earn their respective corn. The finale sequences alone make this picture worth your while, whilst you will rarely see a skateboard and a torch be so intricately and funnily used at the same time!

Instantly forgettable outside of the action set pieces, it still manages to be an entertaining watch for the action junkies amongst us.

A HK movie that doesn't have over-the-top music, bad dubbing, over-stylish direction, or bad actors deserves to get a better mention. After watching the APPALLING "Black Mask" (directed by that unfortunately highly American-influenced Daniel Lee) I didn't expect much from this. I was pleasantly surprised. Good acting all around (watch for Jet Li's subtle quirks), standable music, nice sound, simple and unglorified directing (check out the fight with the guy with the lasers) good fight scenes, and a solid plot make this a good change of pace from most Jet Li movies. Don't watch it for a Martial Arts Flick, just watch it for a well-made action movie and you won't be disappointed. 7.5 /10

Ma Jun, a cop known for dispensing justice during arrests, teams with Hua Sheng, who's undercover, to try to bring down three merciless Vietnamese brothers running a smuggling ring in the months before the mainland's takeover of Hong Kong. The eldest, Xian Wei Cha (called Zah), is arrested in an operation that exposes Sheng and almost gets him killed. His girlfriend, Qiu Di, who's been unaware of Sheng's profession, wants to see him quit. Jun pursues the gang tirelessly, sometimes ignoring police protocols. Zah's trial approaches, witnesses are in danger, and a showdown is inevitable.—<[email protected]>

One of the best films to come out in a long time
Flashpoint is a beautifully shot film that moves along at a fast pace. I was never much of a Donnie Yen fan but I have been converted to one after seeing this film. Hollywood needs to bring him back, at least as an action choreographer. The action scenes in this film are far more sophisticated than anything Hollywood is doing.
Wilson Yip did an amazing job as director. It's a shame this didn't get a U.S. theatrical release. If Hollywood is smart, they will recruit him.
Bingbing Fan is a beauty that should also be brought to Hollywood.
Flashpoint doesn't break new ground in terms of it being a typical cops and gangsters flick, but it is as good as any of them.
The fights are excellent and realistic. Flashpoint is highly recommended for HK movie fans.

David John Cawdell Irving (born 24 March 1938) is an English author who has written on the military and political history of World War II, and especially Nazi Germany, who was declared to be a (Holocaust denier in a UK court in 2000 as a result of a failed libel case.)
Irving's works include The Destruction of Dresden (1963), Hitler's War (1977), Churchill's War (1987), and Goebbels: Mastermind of the Third Reich (1996). In his works, he argued that Adolf Hitler did not know of the extermination of Jews, or, if he did, he opposed it. Though Irving's negationist claims and views of German war crimes in World War II (and Hitler's responsibility for them) were never taken seriously by mainstream historians, he was once recognized for his knowledge of Nazi Germany and his ability to unearth new historical documents.

AVOF Nr. 169 - Truth is No Defence - "The Truth in some absolute sense plays no role. Rather it is the social context..." - Canadian Human Rights Tribunal (WTF?!) An interesting episode of 'Another Voice of Freedom' - Doug Christie(Zündel's Lawyer), Ernst Zündel, and Dr. Robert Countess(American Scholar) all give commentary on Zündel's situation and the anti-Logos of it all. It seems, to me, that they have been interested in the Internet for a while. Unbridled totalitarian influence over this means of communication should have caused more alarm among the populace, at the time.

Robert H. Countess (1937-2005) was a college professor, lecturer, author and pastor.
He was born in August 26, 1937, in Memphis, Tennesse. He graduated from Huntsville (Alabama) High School in 1955.He earned a B.A. degree in Religion and English, an M.A. degree in Religion, and a Ph.D. in New Testament Greek, as well as a Master of Liberal Studies degree in Humanities and Philosophy from Georgetown University. He continued graduate studies at several other universities.
Dr. Countess was Instructor in Greek and Chairman of the Foreign Languages Department of Covenant College, Assistant Professor of Philosophy at Tennessee State University, and Instructor in Greek at the University of Tennessee at Nashville. He also held teaching posts at Northern Virginia Community College, and at the University of Alabama in Huntsville.

Holocaust Revisionists primarily espouse 3 points of contention with the official Holocaust story

1. That there was no German plan or order to exterminate every Jew in the world.
2. That 6,000,000 dead figure is a propaganda figure with no basis in the actual number of Jewish dead during World War 2.
3. There were no homicidal gas chambers disguised as shower rooms.
Revisionists provide convincing evidence that what we are told served as homicidal gas chambers either served as morgues, clothing fumigation rooms or were just shower rooms.
