IRELAND - Limerick man refuses €1.5 million 5yr contract to House Migrants
Note: Your Government hates you.Billions to house migrants - The figures for each company is eye watering. No response from Gov reps for housing homeless Irish.
Limerick man refuses €1.5 million from International Protection company in his efforts to house families.
Limerick man Jamie Daly took on a renovation project almost 2 years ago. The old Meelick Tavern, which served as a pub, had been derelict for a number of years.
Mr Daly, who at the time had been working on a project with Peter McVerry Trust, decided to renovate the complex into the Meelick accomadation to support families who had a massive housing need.
The complex meets all spec needs fully certified and has secure car parking, a secure play area for children, a large communal room, disability access, and staff bedroom facilities with toilets and showers.
The complex can house up to 40 people a night. Mr Daly recently refused a €1.5 million five year contract from a company working to secure accommodation for International Protection Applicants.
Mr. Daly was thankful for the offer, but he refused it on the basis that he wanted to support families experiencing homelessness on Irish streets.
“Everyday I read about record numbers and have seen first hand the impact of homelessness on our children. I want this project to be part of the solution, but I can not get anyone to come and even the property. It is greatly disappointing how this property lays vacant at a time of record family homelessness”.
Mr Daly says it’s shameful he needs to go public on the matter but says the public need to know the local reps and government are not coming to the table and meeting citizens like himself who are trying to make a difference in one of the biggest crisis Ireland has faced in decades this is a shocking look on the Irish government who only like mirroring the Irish peoples views instead of representing them like they are supposed to.
Limerick Now seen this incredible complex in person and it’s truly mind boggling how Mr Daly has not been taken up on his offer to support families in what is a top of the range facilities that will bring great comfort to those experiencing some of the most challenging moments in their lives Mr Daly has informed us they will see to it either way that he will house homeless in this accommodation with government support our not he was determined to make the people all over Ireland aware this government doesn't serve the people of Ireland and this story will confirm this.
