So glad I got this video released in [checks notes] May. Ok yeah, sorry about that. I fully intended to have this video up last month, but my schedule ended up way to hectic and I was unable to get a final cut out by the end of the month. I'm done with school for the summer, so I'm going to catch up on my videos. Ep. 11 will still drop in May (if I do my job right), so consider this a double feature. I would promise that this won't happen again, but I don't want to lie to y'all.

As always, I'd appreciate any feedback y'all have on the video and how I can improve these in the future!

Well, I tried getting back on schedule and that kinda didn't happen. To be fair, I figured February would be a wash, and now I just have to grind through April and I'll be free for the summer to get back on schedule. School's been eating up my free time and finding time to script and record has been hard. I recorded the audio for this one while fighting off the early onset of whatever bug was going around, so if my voice seems off... yeah. It's also wild that I've already broke ground on Ep. 11 of all things given that Ep. 1 feels like yesterday. In contrast, when I was working on the podcast back in the day the one year anniversary felt like a really big deal. This year will also be the two year anniversary of the podcast ending, which is crazy given how that's also as long as the podcast ran for. Guess that's time distortion for you... can't start getting all sentimental now.

As always, I'd appreciate any feedback y'all have on the video and how I can improve these in the future!

What is up fellow gamers! Truth is I had this video edited before I even started the Top 10 Anime of 2023 video, so I've been spending the last couple days taking a break from thinking about YouTube and editing and my god is it relaxing after three months of doing the opposite. The obvious consequence of that is that I've had this video ready to go since the start of the month, but decided to wait a while since (given my schedule) the March video probably won't be out until the end-ish of the month. Grad school isn't exactly easy and I'd like not to stress myself out this early in the year either, so we're gonna take it nice and slow. Better for all of us that I stay sane.

As always, I'd appreciate any feedback y'all have on the video and how I can improve these in the future!

And that's a wrap!

A little late to the party, but with this we wrap up my year end celebrations for 2023 and I can go back to being a mostly responsible student. Just over a year ago I set out on doing something I've always longed to do and actually make a fully scripted video essay and it sure happened. That Best of 2022 video sure was something, but a couple months of cutting my teeth and vocal chords on Three Episodes to Fail and I was excited to take up the challenge again. Hopefully you guys can get at least one recommendation off the video and enjoy watching it as much as I enjoyed making. See you in February for the next episode of TEtF, and here's hoping 2024 is even better than what came before it!

As always, I'd appreciate any feedback y'all have on the video and how I can improve these in the future!

Now that the frenzy that is the end of the year is mostly over, time to get back to what matters: anime nobody remembers! Now that schedule is a lot more free, I'm hoping to get back on schedule with these and already have the audio for next month recorded and ready to be edited together. That'll give me some time to work on the year end video which will either drop later this month or at the start of next month. That's a little too long for most people to care, but the CRAs are in early March so as long as I get it out before them I can still rag on them as much as I want... even if they'll inevitably get more views.

2023 in endings is what 2022 was for openings. A lot of solid options, but nothing that quite stood out to the highest level and marks the first time since 2019 that I wouldn't give the top pick a 9/10 or higher. Not a huge loss though, since a solid assortment of 8/10s helped to push my overall list over the threshold I was looking to hit. Still a pretty solid year all around and I hope we only go up from here.

For context, I watched EVERY Ending that aired this year for this video season by season and picked the top 10 of each season. After that, I took the 40 finalists and went through them again resulting in the video you see here. Explanations for why I placed the way I did, as well as my scattered thoughts on the runner-ups can be found on the document linked below. Personal music preferences were not considered when making the list, instead taking into account things like creativity, storytelling prowess, and overall strength of composition. If your favorite ED isn't here, I just didn't like it as much as the other 10 from the season.

You can view my scattered explanations here:

2023 was an odd year for songs. A lot of decent bangers for the playlist that fell short of being special enough for this here video. Could probably have shuffled 5-6 other songs into the last couple spots and been just as satisfied, but I'll take it for what it is, since the fire that we did get was quite hot indeed. Here's hoping next year will be just as good if not better.

For context, I watched EVERY Anime Opening and Ending that aired this year. After that, I took the 20 songs that I thought represented the best of the year and ordered them into the list you see here. If your favorite song isn't here, that's fine. I'm no music expert, and don't claim to be. This is largely just my personal opinion.

Would have liked to get this finished within the year (believe me I tried), but life had other plans. Should be caught up on most things and can take a bit of a breather as I work on the last of the year end videos. Overall, 2023 ended up being a lot better than 2022. A lot more variety and a decent assortment of top tier OPs, so I'm overall pretty satisfied. Can't wait to see what 2024 has to offer.

It's a little crazy to think that it has been four years since I first separated OPs and EDs into their own separate video. That first ED video was kinda wild since not only were most of them brand new entries that hadn't appeared on any of the past videos, but also because I had so little options for good EDs that that list comprised of all the endings I had seen that I'd given a positive rating (6/10 or higher) plus 1 Honorable mention that I had at a 5/10. Now I can happily say that all 100 endings on this list I would consider at least an 8/10 and I think it really shows. I don't know what will happen next year, since I've been spending less time prioritizing finding new OPs and EDs, but I'm sure the seasonal chart will give us something to finally wrap my college career with. Until then, this will have to do.

Oh boy! I've been up to my neck in other stuff, so forgive me for getting this one out so late. My head has kinda been a little scattered and between life and other projects, I fell behind on this one. A lighter selection of new OPs this year, as I think I'm reaching the limit of what this list is. I suspect there will always be new seasonal entries to add, so there'll always be a list, but these days you never know. All I know is I'm two weeks deep in Winter break and with a week left I'm already ready for the next one. Also, YouTube nuked all my external links and refuses to give me access back without giving them my information. Because of course...

So I'm still kind of backed up at the moment (obviously) but have been spending the last week or so grinding out work on not just this, but my other year end projects. I've already got most of the script done on the January video, the best OP/ED/Song of 2023 videos are just missing their thumbnails and I'm really behind on the overall best OP/ED videos so... oops. Hoping to have all of those out next week, so while the year comes to a close, my content flow does not. After the new year, who knows what I'm doing, but we'll take it by ear. I guess.

After Inktober wrapped up I figured I would have a lot more time to get this out in time, but then school decided to ramp up and I spent most of the month trying not to fall too far behind. Woo hoo! Anyway, after burning through Thanksgiving Break doing mostly school work, I have finished the video and here it is. School is almost done for the semester, so I'm going to seriously try to grind out next month's video and the year end content to get it all out on time. Should be fun. Here's hoping the school admin doesn't screw me over any more than it already has :D
