What is the Bitcoin Halving? (Occurs around April 20th, 2024) 🔪🪙

The Bitcoin Halving is when Bitcoin's mining reward is split in half. It takes the blockchain network about four years to open 210,000 more blocks, a standard set by the blockchain's creators to continuously reduce the rate at which the cryptocurrency is introduced.

The first reward was 50 Bitcoin. Previous halving dates were:
Nov. 28, 2012, to 25 Bitcoins
July 9, 2016, to 12.5 Bitcoins
May 11, 2020, to 6.25 Bitcoins
The next Halving is expected to occur in April 20, 2024, when the block reward will fall to 3.125 BTC.

As of March 2024, about 19.65 million Bitcoins were in circulation, leaving just around 1.35 million to be released via mining rewards.
The last Bitcoin will be mined in the year 2140.

The Halving events typically lead to a 2x to 100x increase in the price of Bitcoin within 12 - 18 months post Halving.

Brazil is quickly turning into a Marxist Dictatorship and Big Tech is assisting them! ☭

At 5:52 pm Eastern Time, April 6, 2024, X corporation, formerly known as Twitter, announced that a Brazilian court had forced it to “block certain popular accounts in Brazil.” Then, less than one hour later, the owner of X, Elon Musk, announced that X would defy the court’s order, and lift all restrictions.

“As a result,” said Musk, “we will probably lose all revenue in Brazil and have to shut down our office there. But principles matter more than profit.”

At any moment, Brazil’s Supreme Court could shut off all access to X/Twitter for the people of Brazil.
It is not an exaggeration to say that Brazil is on the brink of dictatorship at the hands of a totalitarian Supreme Court Justice named Alexandre de Moraes.

President Lula da Silva is participating in the push toward totalitarianism. Since taking office, Lula has massively increased government funding of the mainstream news media, most of which are encouraging increased censorship.

What Lula and de Moraes are doing is an outrageous violation of Brazil’s constitution and the United Nations Declaration of Human Rights.

At this moment, Brazil is not yet a dictatorship. It still has elections and the Brazilian people have other means at their disposal to confront authoritarianism.

But the Federal Supreme Court and the Superior Electoral Court are directly interfere in those elections through censorship.

Three days ago I published the Twitter Files for Brazil. They show that Moraes has violated the Brazilian Constitution. Moraes illegally demanded that Twitter reveal private information about Twitter users who used hashtags he considered inappropriate. He demanded access to Twitter's internal data, violating the platform's policy. He censored, on his own initiative and without any respect for due process, posts on Twitter by parliamentarians from the Brazilian Congress. And Moraes tried to turn Twitter's content moderation policies into a weapon against supporters of then-president Jair Bolsonaro.

I say this as an independent and non-partisan journalist. I'm not a fan of either Bolsonaro or Trump. But I know censorship when I see it.

The Twitter Files also revealed that Google, Facebook, Uber, WhatsApp and Instagram betrayed the people of Brazil. If such evidence is proven, the executives of these companies behaved like cowards: they provided the Brazilian government with personal registration data and telephone numbers without a court order and, therefore, violating the law.
When Twitter refused to provide Brazilian authorities with private user information, including direct messages, the government attempted to sue Twitter's top Brazilian lawyer.

When I lived in Brazil in 1992, I was very left-wing. At the time, Lula and the PT's slogans were “Without fear of being happy”.

In recent days, I have spoken to dozens of Brazilians, including professors, journalists and respected lawyers. Everyone tells me they are shocked by what is happening. They told me that they are afraid to speak their mind and that the Lula government is complicit in creating this climate of fear.

Brazil belongs to the Brazilians. It is not my country. As such, there are limits to what I am capable of doing.

But I can say things that many Brazilians do not feel safe saying: Alexandre de Moraes is a tyrant. And the only way to deal with tyrants is to confront them. It is up to Brazil’s senators to confront the tyrant. And it is up to the people of Brazil to demand that their senators do so.

In the complicated evolving field of cryptocurrency, Ethereum Foundation, which is second only to Bitcoin is embroiled in a dispute that involves allegations of multiagency government conspiracy to prosecute a whistleblower for a fabricated crime to monopolize cryptocurrency on behalf of the government.

Ethereum uses utility tokens (ETH) on a purportedly decentralized platform ensuring its network operates autonomously and transparently. The internal decentralized structure is the defining aspect of cryptocurrencies because only cryptocurrency networks that are sufficiently decentralized are not considered securities by the SEC (U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission) and thus would not require regulation and disclosures. ETH are not currently considered securities because they are not tied to a central entity’s profits or efforts.

One of the people first involved with Ethereum Foundation is Steven Nerayoff, a savant with over 40 patents in the AI and crypto sectors. Nerayoff claims he was a co-creator of Ethereum by providing initial capital and frameworks. The documents confirm he had initially declined what today would be considered a few billion dollars in Ether. Nerayoff states he was motivated to help the Ethereum project without initial compensation because he believed in the larger vision of a decentralized network that had the ability to help change the world for the greater good and to protect the project and people involved by eliminating any conflicts of interest. When Nerayoff disagreed about the internal structure of Ethereum, his Ethereum email was cut off. It was after this action that Nerayoff claims things took a strange turn.

Nerayoff hired a consultant named Michael Hlady, who used the alias Michael Peters, to do background checks for him. Hlady at various times falsely claimed to be a former member of the United States Military, a former government agent who had worked for the NSA, and the FBI, and CIA. Hlady made comments to persons in a cryptocurrency deal Nerayoff was involved with that laid groundwork for the FBI to charge Nerayoff with extortion. The FBI then obtained an arrest warrant but not a search warrant to search Nerayoff’s house and interrogate him about the players in the crypto world. FBI agents allegedly told Nerayoff, “we want dozens of convictions.” Very uncharacteristically, after pursuing Nerayoff in court, the government moved to dismiss its case against him stating it was “unable to prove the charges in the Indictment beyond a reasonable doubt.”

These events have led people in the crypto community to believe the government targeted Nerayoff in an attempt to capture the top figures in the crypto industry and monopolize cryptocurrency systems for the government. Stay tuned as OMG delves deeper into this unfolding story.
