It's been too long since we last filmed the Sun so I wanted to take a look at ole Sol.

Out of the blue, my Orion SynScan V5 hand controller wouldn't work properly - the handset could move the mount so it has power, but the display information wouldn't show - it was lit up but blank. So I had to use the SynScan Pro app on the phone instead. Bummer.

The outer band of clouds from the Gulf storm seems to have reached us merging with clouds from the north so viewing wasn't good here tonight. There were some cool shots of the Moon and a flock of birds in a V formation photo-bombing the satellite, and the moon was such a pretty light colored yellow. The planets, Saturn & Jupiter, didn't come out well when zoomed in because of the poor sky conditions.

Okay, here's the follow-up video of the testing of those 2 Kenko teleconverters (2x & 1.4X) on the Canon 80D with the Tamron 18-400mm lens. I wanted to see how well it does with both converters and using the in-camera 10x digital zoom the Canon has.

Bottom Line - it didn't come out too well, especially Saturn, so I think the Nikon P1000 wins for zooming this far. :)

Just experimenting with using 2 Kenko teleconverters on the Canon 80D with the Tamron 18-400mm lens. A 2x and 1.4x Kenko Teleplus converter. Sorry so much is out of focus but that's my fault. I also didn't use the best example by focusing in on a faded logo - my bad. Still just playing around to see how well it works.

I did take footage tonight of Jupiter & Saturn. Will try to get that edited and uploaded next. (it's not that great lol)

yeah yeah yeah, I'm way late. The last video took me 7 hours to do and I didn't finish up until 5am which is hard on this old lady (lol). So, I opted to either just do the reviewing, editing and processing the photos, and stacking and not attempt to edit a video together for youtube - or to split things up. So I finished up the video today and did all the other stuff last night.

This one is similar to the last video, so if you just want to skip ahead to the very end with the stacked photos or just bypass this all together, I understand. Your time is precious :)

Sorry for the length!

With all the unusual activity that takes place up in our skies, along with the beauty up yonder, I wanted to keep a record of what's happening here in NE Ohio where I live (41° latitude). I've grown distrustful of 'official' sources and their cgi/photoshopping crap, so I began uploading my videos to here, but also to YouTube. This is my DiversityJ channel over at YT -- https://www.youtube.com/user/DiversityJ/videos

(sadly, vid.me is closing it's doors as of Dec 15, 2017, so all our content over there will be gone shortly)

Clean, fresh, blue skies to us all! :)
