Joker is a 2019 film starring Joaquin Phoenix and Robert DeNiro, and directed by Todd Phillips of Road Trip and Hangover fame.

It details the dark transformation of a character who may or may not be called Arthur Fleck into the classic Batman villain The Joker. However, far beyond a simple comic book origin story, Joker is elevated by its themes of mental health and societal unrest, and by the excellent performance of Joaquin Pheonix, for which the film serves as an ideal vehicle to further solidify his reputation as a formidable and dedicated "method" actor.

Glass is a 2019 film starring Samuel L Jackson, Bruce Willis, James McEvoy and Sarah Paulson. It's directed by M Night Shyamalan and forms a continuation -- and apparently conclusion -- of his hit duology of popular fillums "Unbreakable" and "Split".

And while Glass is bound to get a lot of flack for subverting fan expectation, it is actually a pretty effective and intelligent conclusion to the trillogy. However, that doesn't mean the film isn't somewhat problematic

Do you get it, because she plays septuplets? That's seven identical twin sisters, you see? No?

The fillum depicts a possibly not-so-futuristic world where the population has exploded to such an extent that a one child policy has been implemented by the governing establishment, which is obviously quite problematic for a group of septuplets and leads to all sorts of misadventure and hijinks.

"Downsizing" is a 2017 film starring Matt Damon, Chistoph Waltz, Hong Chau and, albeit briefly, Kristen Wig and Jason Sudeikis.

It follows the story of a man, played by Damon, who decides to undergo a process called "downsizing" whereby his body is shrunken to about 1 10th of its regular size. The process is heralded as the solution to the very real issues of overpopulation and climate change, but also has the side benefit of reducing one's cost of living, thereby forming a new class of tiny retirees who can enjoy a lifestyle analogous to that of the full-sized elite.

In fact, Christopher Nolan is an analytical manipulator of human perception. He thinks his way through his films, paying special attention to how the images and sounds he creates will affect the audience.

But, how reliable is human perception anyway? And what if these kinds of techniques could be applied to all our senses at once? Would we even know?
