David and I wanted to share our reasons why we think 30A is so special. These reasons also gave us a chance to speak with Aaron Sutton, who is a Graphic Designer on 30A. He is the owner of Pure White Design and one of David’s best friends. You have undoubtedly seen some of his designer logos if you have spent anytime on 30A.

"I met Aaron 10 years ago when he created the Clay logo for us. It was everything that we wanted and more. He is so creative and is very flexible with his ideas. Since then, he has built 2 websites for us, many ads for print, and a logo and event graphics for another business that we have in NC. He is the best." Anna-Lisa Daniel, Clay Garden and Gifts

I (Erica) am originally from North Central Florida, and David is from North Central Kansas. We met on 30A Florida and fell in love. The 30A name comes from a road in South Walton County (County Road 30A) that spans roughly 20 miles along the Florida Panhandle coastline. It can be found in the stretch between Destin and Panama City Beach. We got married at Camp Helen State Park in Inlet Beach, and live in Seagrove Beach on 30A, where David has resided for 14 years and we’ve resided together for 5 years. We wanted to start a YouTube Channel that would better reflect the interactions we have with the businesses and people living on 30A year round. Most videos are from real estate agents talking about the thousands of incredible multi-million dollar homes here, and the lifestyle that comes along with #beachlife. We started the 30A Misfits travelvlog to share our “real-life” experiences with locals and tourists on the Emerald Coast, and specifically 30A locals, and the millions of people that vacation on 30A in Florida every year.

In the 30A area, you'll find the beach communities of Dune Allen Beach, Gulf Place, Blue Mountain Beach, Grayton Beach, WaterColor, Seaside, Seagrove Beach, WaterSound, Alys Beach, Seacrest, Rosemary Beach, and Inlet Beach.

For whatever reason, could be the wheat fields, could be the weather, Wichita, Kansas has been the starting place for a lot of national franchises. Such as Spangles, Taco Tico, Home Grown, Freddy’s, Pizza Hut and White Castle.

Occasionally we have to be reminded to stay humble. After the recent college basketball championship game, the winning coach, Bill Self, was shown talking to his players in the locker room, and he talked about humility.

When our show started taking off we thought it would be easy to make enough money to stay on 30A. Then we found out our we weren’t getting even close to making enough money to stay on 30A. True Humility is not thinking less of yourself; it is thinking of yourself less. We have undoubtedly been too focused on how we can improve our lives when instead we should be focused on how we can serve others. For this we apologize.
We would like to spend our next season more focused on how we can serve others. We are going to share our mission with you.

Our mission is finding a place to live on 30A. Similar to how Thor could only pick up the Hammer when he was worthy, we are only going to make it back to 30A when WE are deemed worthy.

We visited every BBQ Restaurant we could find in Kansas City to find the top 10 burnt ends.

This video however, is all about Kansas City burnt ends. Burnt ends are classically made with the point ends of a brisket, but some of the places we visited didn’t have traditional beef brisket burnt ends, they had pork burnt ends. Some had both beef and pork.

So what we decided to do was score each place on what they did best. Our scores are based on two simple factors. Texture and taste. David and I scored each place on a scale of 1-10 and then added our scores together. So here we go!

Kansas City sits on the border between Kansas and Missouri. It's actually two different cities. Kansas City, Missouri and Kansas City, Kansas. Two different mayors, governments, planning commissions, blah blah blah. When speaking of Kansas City most people are talking about the Missouri side as it contains the tall buildings and the Chiefs and Royals. The BBQ places we visited are pretty evenly divided between both sides, and most of the time we never knew which state we were in.

As we are making our way across the country to eventually spend time with family in Kansas, we decided to visit Asbury University in Wilmore, KY. David graduated from Asbury in 2003, and one of his best friends, Will Shouse, who lived in the same dorms is now the head basketball coach. The week we visited, he became the “winningest” coach in Asbury history. David thought it would be fun to do an interview while we were there.

The Asbury Head Basketball Coach, Will Shouse, gave an interview that was both fun and heartwarming. He shared stories of his love with Nike Air Jordans, and more importantly his love of the Lord. He also shared his testimony of when he lost his son and how that has made him a better coach, husband, and father.

After the interview we ate at a popular alumni-owned coffee shop and diner, Solomon’s Porch. We then got back on the road and headed to Dayton Ohio.

On our Road Trip from Northwest Florida to Wichita, Kansas we make a stop in David's old stomping grounds Dayton, Ohio.
We spend some time visiting some of his favorite places to take clients out while he worked at two local radio stations, K99 Country and 1290 WHIO.
We visited 6 places, Marion's Piazza, Bill's Doughnut Shop, Skyline Chili, Tim Horton's, B&B Carryout, and Frisch's.
Then we got back on the road and headed to Kansas City with a brief stop in Sedalia, Missouri because of a wind storm that made its way through the plains states.

After living in the same condo for 16 years, our rent was unexpectedly raised $900. So needless to say we will have to find other accommodations. In the meantime we decided to rent a storage unit and hit the road. We are going to take a road trip that will culminate with some family time in Wichita, Kansas.
The first leg of the trip takes us to Wilmore, Kentucky where David went to college at Asbury University. The head basketball coach is a very good friend of David's and he just became the "winningest" coach in Asbury history.
This video is about our drive to Wilmore and the good food we had along the way. We first stop at my(Erica) favorite fast-food breakfast joint Whataburger, where I get a Honey Butter Chicken Biscuit. Then we drive through Atlanta's traffic and to one of David's favorite places (when he lived in Buckhead) called The Varsity. The Largest Drive-in Fast Food Restaurant in The World.
This should be an easy watch and thank you so much for joining us!

In this episode of 30A Misfits, we'll explain just where we've been the last few weeks, and what we've been up to. We start off with a sunset cruise with owner of 30A Boat Valet, Eric Pearce. It was a beautiful night full of stingrays and dolphins led by the wonderful Captain Mark. Then, you'll see first hand what took us so long to get out another episode: our last minute move out of our condo. After that, come along with us to Defuniak Springs to check out their famous Christmas Reflections display that surrounds Lake Defuniak. Stay tuned to the end to see what adventures we have in store for you after this!

Today on 30a Misfits, we explore Seagrove Beach. Seagrove Beach is what we would consider Old Florida. Old Florida to us means a refreshing underrepresentation of really controlling HOAs. It's your land, you build the house you want on it. Which ultimately has mixed blessing results. David and I met and fell in love while we were both working in the service industry. A lot of the service industry workers who work in the more exclusive communities like Alys Beach, Rosemary, and Seaside, live in the Old Florida communities like Dune Allen, Blue Mountain, and Seagrove. In the last five years or so, that's become no longer the case. Because of the incredible escalating real estate prices and the unparalleled amount of high end construction living. So if we wanted to stay in Seagrove, we knew we were going to have to find a new hustle. And thus was born 30A Misfits. We're currently looking for sponsors, so if you or someone you know would be interested in working together let us know! But for now, enjoy this tour exploring our favorite 30a community and home, Seagrove Beach.

Today on 30a Misfits OFFROAD, we visit the Possum Capital of the World, Wausau, Florida. We start off with breakfast at a new addition to town, Moody's Farmhouse, before taking a tour of the small 1.15 square mile town. We visit a local park, drive by town hall, take a good look at the Possum Monument built in 1982, and check out (sort of) the local bait shop. We have lunch at (the only other restaurant in town) Katie's Kafe, and visit our friend, David Morton, and eat half of our dessert for the day. After lunch, Morty took us to see Katie's Kafe's sister restaurant, Crescent City Cafe, that should be opening soon in Chipley, and on our way back to Wausau, we stop at Falling Waters State Park to see Florida's highest waterfall. Back in Wausau we visit Dazzlewear (a local boutique), buy an adorable hat, and have the second half of our dessert in the car before heading home.

A giant sundial isn't all there is to Natchez Park, but it's definitely the most impressive component. The park, designed by architect Charles Warren, is composed of architectural elements symbolizing the sun; including the sundial, two obelisks, and a ziggurat. The sundial can be read from the various vantage points in the park, from the upper floors of the nearby houses, and from the small scale dial at the base of the sundial, to suggest the shift in scale from cosmic to human. The wooden ziggurat marks other intersections, and the paired obelisks mark the end points of a trail of live oaks.

Today on 30A Misfits we tour Seaside! We have some awesome shrimp and grits at Great Southern Cafe and try a shot of juiced ginger for the first time..which ends up with some unintended consequences. We come back on another day and check out Natchez Park, try every sauce at Barefoot Barbecue, get a facial while Emma gets a massage at The Spa, and try cotton candy fudge at the original dessert shop in Seaside, before going on an "All Access Tour" of all of Seaside's beach accesses.

Today on 30A Misfits we tour WaterColor! We start off in Seagrove, renting bikes at Butterfly Bike and Kayak, then ride those bikes into WaterColor for breakfast at Perfect Pig where we have some of the best bacon EVER. After breakfast we ride around the trails of WaterColor, wear ourselves out, and meet a hydrofoil instructor, before heading to lunch at Fish Out of Water. We have gelato at the brand new 30A Beach Happy Cafe, and then ride home through Seaside, return the bikes, and see some hours-old newborn puppies.

Today on 30A Misfits we visit Grayton Beach. We start off with a visit to Hibiscus Bed and Breakfast's "Mostly Vegetarian Cafe", get more than we bargained for walking a trail at Grayton Beach State Park, have a long awaited lunch at Nanbu Noodle Bar, visit the brand new J + Sky Boutique (with a bonus look at Dose of Beauty), finally show David why Erica keeps insisting that Chanticleer has the BEST key lime pie, and end the day back at Grayton Beach State Park with a walk on the beach.

Today on 30A Misfits we visit Blue Mountain Beach. We start off with the best breakfast sandwiches in Walton County, take a cruise through a beachside neighborhood to look at some impressive houses, have lunch at the newest restaurant on 30A, check out an adorable organic grocery store, and drink our dessert at a new(ish) branch of an old 30A staple, before ending our day at a near-deserted beach.

Today on 30A Misfits, we'll be touring Gulf Place. We start our day by giving away a local secret breakfast place, give a little behind the scenes insight into local life, stumble across exactly the artist we were hoping to see at The Artists of Gulf Place, get a taste of the City of Brotherly Love for lunch at South of Philly, take a quick walk on a hidden trail named for a native plant, and cool down with some frozen goodies with a couple of wild babies, before ending our day at the beach.

Today on 30A Misfits we visit The Gateway to 30A Florida Beaches, Dune Allen Beach. We start our day with a seasonal breakfast, watch some water skiers at a local ski school, check out a beautiful view for lunch, visit one of Dune Allen’s beautiful beach accesses, find a hidden gem of a park, and have dinner at one of our favorite places.

From 2000 to 2010 Freeport grew at 50.2% from 2010 to 2020 the estimated growth is 56.9%. We searched for the origins of the town name and never could find a definite answer. It has had 3 names; Genoa, Four Mile Landing, and Finally Freeport.

Today on 30A Misfits OFFROAD, we visit Freeport. We start our day with an incredible cinnamon roll, check out a beautiful creek, indulge our inner child after hunting for some local history, have lunch at a local favorite, wander through a picker's paradise, have some dessert at one of the newer businesses in Freeport, and end our day making a feathered friend on the bay.

Today on 30A Misfits, we take our adventures off of 30A and north, to Defuniak Springs, for our first episode of 30A Misfits: OFFROAD. We start our trip with some mix tape roulette, discover some local art at a coffee shop, experience cuteness overload feeding some baby ducks, try some sushi at a famous hot dog stand, find the best milkshakes in Walton County, and end our day taking in some beautiful views at a local park.

Join us as we take a trip down memory lane through Season 1. We pick our favorite spot in each of the 13 beach communities on 30A and discuss our journey on this 30A Misfits adventure.
Stay til the end and get a look at David's 5 year anniversary gift to Erica. Thank you for watching and please make sure to subscribe.

Today on 30A Misfits, we'll be touring Inlet Beach. We start the day with some familiar favorites, recreate some sweet wedding memories, enjoy a chicken sandwich at a burger place, get distracted by an adorable fur baby, and fall in love lithesome spicy ice cream, before ending our day at the beach.
