DETROIT (FOX 2) - The heat and humidity is on but for a family in Detroit, they were left in the heat after someone pulled up to their home and stole their home air conditioning unit.
The crime was captured on Paul Duda's Ring Doorbell camera on the city's east side. Surprisingly, Paul is pretty chill about it.
"If the people themselves are watching, I just really hope that you needed it more than we did," Paul said.
Outside, the cord is cut and the unit is just -- gone.
While Paul is chill about it, he is concerned about his 2-year-old son.
"I also hope, maybe they consider giving it back. I don't know that that's actually what would happen," Paul said.
Paul and his wife are transplants
from Los Angeles, but they won't let the theft chase them away. They're committed to the Detroit neighborhood.
"I don't know that people realize, maybe, the damage that they do to their own neighborhood, their own city, by doing something like that. So it just stinks to see it happen in our neighborhood because we really love it," Paul said.

A routine traffic stop turned into a violent war inside of a gas station ... with a massive NFL player fighting a cop AFTER being hit with a taser and TMZ Sports has the unbelievable video.
A police officer in Lathrup Village, Michigan pulled over 23-year Malik McDowell -- a 6'6", 300 pound defensive tackle -- on a snowy February night after he witnessed McDowell's Jeep spinning out on the road after speeding.
During the stop, which took place in front of a gas station, the officer ordered McDowell to stay seated in his car, but Malik disobeyed -- and repeatedly demanded to speak with a supervisor.
As the officer continues to verbally engage with McDowell, who was selected by the Seattle Seahawks in the 2nd round of the 2017 NFL Draft, he tries to leave his vehicle and walk into the gas station convenient store.
The cop grabs McDowell and tells him to put his hands behind his back ... but again, McDowell disobeys and begins to fight back against the officer, knocking over shelves of food in the process.
The officer repeatedly warns McDowell to stand down or else he would be tased. Once McDowel's on the ground, the officer instructs him to get on his stomach, but the NFL player refuses ... so the cop deploys his taser.
That's when McDowell rips out the prongs -- while he's being tased -- and attacks the officer.
The two wrestle around the store until backup officers eventually arrive and help take McDowell into custody.
At one point during the struggle, McDowell tells the officer, "Don't shoot me."
The backup officer, who helped subdue McDowell, later wrote in a police report that Malik "grabbed for my gun as I was trying to grab his arm."

Police have ramped up patrols at the Staten Island Mall following a series of five vicious attacks on young women by a pack of attention-hungry teenage girls, police and a victim’s family said Tuesday.
A crew of 12- and 13-year-old girls unleashed three separate beatdowns in the mall between 7:30 p.m. and 10:15 p.m. on June 21. And a slightly older group of trouble-making teenage girls attacked two 14-year-old women at the shopping center around 9 p.m. June 26, according to police.
Three marked cop cars were seen parked at the shopping center Tuesday.
“These gangs are out there,” warned the father of one 14-year-old victim, from the June 26 incident who asked not to be named.
“They pulled my daughter’s hair and held her on the ground while other girls beat her and kicked her,” he said of the thrashing.
The girls videotaped their sick attack to post on social media after accusing their victim of talking “sh-t” on Snap Chat, the dad said.

HOUSTON - A mother of six is recovering from her injuries after her life was threatened and she was brutally beaten early Tuesday morning.
She's also wondering how one of the suspects in the crime was still on the streets due to his lengthy criminal history.
According to Samantha Mora, Harris and David tried to force her mother into the Jeep and one of them reportedly said to the other, “Just shove her in the car and shoot her."
Police attempted to get the driver to stop but he refused and ended up leading authorities on a 10-mile long chase that ended in northeast Houston on Breland Street near Sandra Street when the driver lost control and crashed into a tree, officers said.
According to police:
In December 2016, Harris was charged with assault on a public servant in Hidalgo County.
In March 2017, Harris pleaded guilty and got six years of probation.
In October 2017, Harris was charged with capital murder.
In November 2017, his probation was revoked.
In April 2019, Harris was sentenced to two years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice for assault on a peace officer. He had already served 589 days in jail.
In May 2019, he was sent to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
In June 2019, he was released from mandatory supervision.
