Fluoride Lawsuit attorney Michael Connett details how dental interests within the CDC and NIDCR successfully blocked an NTP report on fluoride neurotoxicity because the results were not compatible with the policy of promoting water fluoridation.

Michael Connett: The first research indicating that fluoride could affect the brain was in the 1930s, but the findings on neurological symptoms were overlooked at the time.

In the 1990s, scientists in China began studying the effects of elevated levels of fluoride and children’s IQ.

In 2006, the National Research Council (NRC) flagged neurotoxicity as a potential problem for fluoride exposures and concluded that fluoride does interfere with the functions of the brain.

That finding by the NRC spurred a lot more interest in the subject of fluoride neurotoxicity.

Today, over 400 studies have found that #fluoride is a neurotoxin.

Fluoride Lawsuit Attorney, Michael Connett: If we win EPA will mandated by law to eliminate the risk of neurotoxicity posed by fluoridation.

Deposition testimony taken in the Fluoride Lawsuit reveals that the CDC is aware of and agrees with the U.S. National Research Council's (NRC) finding that fluoride can cause permanent damage to the brain, including Alzheimer's and dementia.

During a deposition for the TSCA Fluoride Lawsuit, Casey Hannan, the now retired director of the CDC's Oral Health Division, admits that CDC is not aware of ANY evidence of fluoride's benefit to infants, directly contradicting claims made by fluoridation proponents.

Bruce Lanphear, MD, MPH, is a clinician scientist and a physician certified in public health and preventative medicine, with a Masters of Public Health (MPH) degree.

Dr. Lanphear has studied the impact of toxic chemicals, including lead and pesticides, on children's brain development for over 20 years. His research has been almost exclusively funded by federal agencies, including the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and Health Canada.

He has served on multiple scientific advisory boards for the EPA and the American Academy of Pediatrics, and has earned various awards for his work, including the Research Integrity Award from the International Society for Environmental Epidemiology and the Advocacy Award from the Academic Pediatric Association.

Dr. Lanphear is well-known in the environmental science community for authoring seminal research on the neurotoxicity of low levels of lead. His blood lead research, funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), was cited by the EPA as the critical study upon which the agency based the current national air standard for lead.

He has also co-authored several landmark human studies funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) on fluoride and the brain.

He works as an investigator at BC Children's Hospital and as a professor of Health Sciences at Simon Fraser University. His research focuses on fetal and childhood exposures to environmental neurotoxins.

**Please pardon the video quality, we had to enlarge his Zoom screen from an event where Dr. Lanphear was invited by City Council members in Dallas, Texas in November 2023 to present on the topic of fluoride neurotoxicity.

Retired National Toxicology Program (NTP) Director, Linda Birnbaum, discusses why she believes water fluoridation is outdated due to emerging evidence of the risk of developmental neurotoxicity and a demonstrable lack of efficacy.

Linda Birnbaum, Ph.D., D.A.B.T., A.T.S., is one of the most highly-respected scientists in the nation. A board certified toxicologist and microbiologist, she served as a federal scientist for 40 years.

Dr. Birnbaum was director of the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) of the National Institutes of Health, and the National Toxicology Program (NTP) from 2009 to 2019. Prior to her appointment at NIH, she spent 19 years an the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), where she directed the largest division on environmental health research.

Birnbaum received many awards and recognitions. In October 2010, she was elected to the Institute of Medicine of the National Academies, one of the highest honors in the fields of medicine and health. Other awards included two NIH Director’s Award, an EPA Health Science Achievement Award, a Surgeon General’s Medallion, and 14 Scientific and Technological Achievement Awards, which reflected the recommendations of EPA’s external Science Advisory Board.

She was vice president of the International Union of Toxicology, the umbrella organization for toxicology societies in more than 50 countries; former president of the Society of Toxicology, the largest professional organization of toxicologists in the world.

Birnbaum is now a Special Volunteer at NIEHS and conducts research as part of the Mechanistic Toxicology Branch. She's also a scholar in residence at Duke University's Nicholas School of the Environment and is also the past president of the Society of Toxicology.

"As a rep of CDC to my knowledge we don't have any knowledge about that." - Casey Hannan, CDC oral health director, on whether the CDC has any safety data on fluoride exposures for neurotoxic effects on children that could prove fluoride safe. "I think it's a reason for doing an update to the fluoride assessment" - Dr. Joyce Donohue, EPA Office of Water, on recent NIH-funded studies showing fluoride harms the developing brain. FAN's research director Chris Neurath offers public comments on the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) peer-review of the National Toxicology Program's (NTP) recent report on the neurotoxicity of fluoride. There will be one more round of NAS peer-review before the final NTP report is published.

On September 16, 2020, the National Toxicology Program released a draft monograph on the Systematic Review of Fluoride Exposure and Neurodevelopmental and Cognitive Health Effects.

The report reconfirms that fluoride is "presumed to be a cognitive
neurodevelopmental hazard to humans" while claiming that the evidence is stronger and more consistent for studies in which subjects were consuming water fluoride at or above 1.5 ppm.

In this video, FAN's research director Chris Neurath and executive director Paul Connett drill down into the new report and discuss why the NTP's conclusions should effectively end water fluoridation as a public health policy.

FAN’s Research Director, Chris Neurath, closely details the evidence that fluoride is a developmental neurotoxin. This information in this video is an excellent introduction to the main argument FAN will be using in the upcoming federal TSCA trial against EPA that starts June 8th, 2020 (more on the trial here: http://fluoridealert.org/issues/tsca-fluoride-trial/

Chris Neurath describes the rapidly accumulating evidence that fluoride lowers the IQ of children and increases their risk of neurobehavioral problems like ADHD. Neurath says: “So many high quality studies have been published in recent years and even the last several months that it requires a ‘score card’ to keep track of them. I’ll be explaining these studies and putting them into perspective. Incredibly, the evidence points to water fluoridation in the USA now causing greater population-wide IQ loss in children than lead poisoning.”
