Sloane Freemont - Create What You Speak Podcast

The other day someone mentioned something to me about a current event, expecting me to be mad, and I just wasn't. Surprised by this, the person then asked me "Well doesn’t this make you mad"? I thought about it for a minute and I said "No, it actually doesn’t because I’ve just stopped caring about the current events that I have no control over and that are hyped up by corporate media with the intention of keeping me in fear or rage."

I thought about that afterwards and wondered: when did I stop caring? I don’t really remember when the change occured, it just happened. I can’t pinpoint the day or the time that I stopped caring. I just stopped. This led me to consider how different I am as a person as a result of this change, of not caring about whatever it is I’m "supposed" to care about.

This is an interesting observation about life because it got me thinking about how I’ve changed in other ways and wondering when did those changes occur as well? Again, I couldn't pinpoint it to a day or time, but change had definitely happened.

There is definitely change that happens to us that is abrupt such as losing a job, a break up or a death. But there is also A LOT of change that happens that isn’t abrupt and as you are going through it, it doesn’t even feel like change. It is so subtle and so slow, it almost seems like nothing is happening until you look back and you can see how different you are, know where you came from and recognize that change occurred.

The interesting thing about change is when it happens, and we haven’t recognized it, things can feel prickly or irritating or annoying and we may not know why. Maybe we can’t be in certain situations we once were or we can’t be around the same people anymore but we don’t know why. If you are finding this happening to you, one place to look is within and see if something has changed for you that maybe you haven’t noticed.

This week I share my thoughts on change that is so subtle, we don’t even notice it, how to recognize it in your life and and why you should look back at this and protect the change that benefits you at all costs!

Is this my strategy for staying the same? This is such an interesting question to ask yourself when you are engaging in behavior that feels terrible or that you know doesn't work. In this episode, I share what I'm learning in a course I'm taking about becoming aware of what you're focusing on. Thoughts, emotions and behaviors used to feel like they were all one unit that I had no control over. This left me feeling like my emotions were often out of control and these behaviors I had (that felt terrible) were just "how I was". But now I'm starting to see things differently and I share that perspective with you this week.

Once you start to see what you focus on, you can then understand why you feel the way you feel which then in turn affects how you behave. And the good news about all of this is you have complete control over it! In this episode, I'll explain how. I also share some important questions to ask yourself about your focus. You don't have to continue to feel stuck or do things that don't feel good to you. This episode will help you to understand how you can start choosing what you focus on in ways that feel good so you can move in the direction of what you want to be, do and have in this life!

This week I'm excited to welcome back Lawrence Rook to the show. Lawrence is the author of "Your Money, Your Mind", a book that explores both skeptical thinking and how to protect yourself from the wealth transfer we are currently experiencing. In the last interview I did with Lawrence, we touched on both the financial side and the skeptical thinking side. For today's discussion, we are talking about the more spiritual side of things to help you take control of your life and your sovereignty so you can create the kind of life you want to create. We talk about what it means to be someone who is seeking truth and wants to understand what's really going on, how you can't always blindly trust the alternative media just because they are alternative, how to use discernment and this spiritual journey we are all on often consists of a breakdown of self as you begin to relearn what you thought you knew. We discuss polarization and how that can be used to divide and rule people, why it's important to take what works and leave the rest and how everything starts from within.

In this episode, Lawrence made the comment that we can't always predict what we are going to grow from and we don't really know what is best for us. We are part of an intelligent universe that wants the best for us and can see the bigger picture when we can't. I loved that comment so much I called that the title of the episode because I thought it was a great reminder. This was an amazing conversation with so much great information for anyone who is seeking truth, exploring alternative paths and wants to be part of the solution. It's time for another monthly check-in with Dr. Erhard Vogel. In this episode, Erhard and I discuss what it means to experience it and know it. I share an example of how this happened in my own life with something as simple as burning myself with my curling wand (!). During that experience, I was able to let go of a false identity of myself because I chose not to believe the thoughts that wanted to interfere in my mind.

Picking up on our previous episode, Erhard and I discuss interconnectedness and the feeling of isolation and suffering that is so prevailing in the world now. We discuss how this feeling of isolation causes so much pain and suffering and how you can start to value yourself sufficiently to give yourself the attention you deserve so you can direct your attention and energy to living a life true to yourself. The story of how my guest for this week came about felt random at first but I know it actually wasn't random at all. It started like this: I read a post on Flote about accepting things as they are, not as we want them to be and it really got me thinking. For some reason, I still don't engage much on social media through comments, (I think that's leftover from my Facebook days and how argumentative people were on there.) but I decided to comment because those words kept pulling at me. There was something there that I needed to understand more as that phrase "accepting things as they are" kept coming up for me. (I think this was like the 4th or 5th time I had heard it that week so I guessed it was finally time to pay attention!).

I made the comment on the post and chatted back and forth with the poster and that is how Alex Martin came to join the podcast. Here's an excerpt from the post: "The accepting part is about not letting those wishes turn into expectations or frustrations. Accepting things as they are in this case meant setting my expectations and entitlements aside and realizing that this young woman had agency… freedom… choices… that she didn’t belong to anyone but herself. The wish and will part would have been for me to tell her about my feelings when I realized I had them… and then accept whatever the outcome of that might have been."

Alex and I have a thoughtful discussion on what it means to accept things as they are, how it doesn't mean giving up or giving in and how we can use our voices to be more clear about what it is we want in life and go after it. I think you're really going to like this episode, don't miss it!

It’s been awhile since I’ve done a solo show so this week I share some thoughts with you on the opportunities that are all around us and how we all have much more power than we are willing to realize. Please note: there is an issue with the audio for the first minute or so of the show. I'm not sure what happened but it does level out and there are no issues after that!

In this episode, I share some examples from my own life about how I was able to create opportunities when on the surface it looked like there were none. One of those examples was when I was jobless, poor and not really having any idea what to do next, I saw an opportunity in an underutilized space and was able to create a blog and a podcast which eventually led to my 12 year career in IT consulting.

What does health and well being mean to you? Preventative healthcare is a hot topic these days as most of us are doing everything we can to stay away from doctors and hospitals. 2020 was a wake up call to many and we continue to see how what was once thought of as "health" care is really more about getting people addicted to a system that keeps them customers for life.  Do you want to live that way? I think many of us can agree, it’s time to heal healthcare. We as individuals will have to take greater responsibility for our own well being, and have a say on those issues for people in our lives. Current models are broken and antibiotics can’t keep up with illnesses resistant to them.A 2018 study by John Hopkins Institute rated the medical system as America’s third largest cause of hospital deaths. On this episode, Dr. Erhard Vogel joins the show as part of our ongoing monthly series. One of the many things I love about my conversations with Erhard is I never know where they are going to go but we always have a truly expansive and open conversation!  There is so much to learn from Erhard and his teachings and I'm thrilled to have him back on the show.

I start out this episode asking Erhard about one of his recent Pearls of Wisdom from his weekly newsletter: "Examining the Falsity about yourself does not necessarily have you live in Truth". We talk about what examining the Falsity about yourself means (and what it doesn't) and how we can start to gently examine Falsity in our own lives (hint, it might not be what you are expecting). From there Erhard and I discuss so many things from valuing ourselves sufficiently, to what it means to be, really be, and how you can drop all the layers of yourself that aren't really you. We discuss how to get out of our heads so we can experience life with all of our being and I share my experience with this in a recent meditation.  During this conversation I also share an example of how much relief I feel in what Erhard and I are discussing, which illustrates Erhards teaching: to know and experience for ourselves. Erhard and I really had a magical conversation with this episode and my intention is that you follow along in our monthly series and can learn and grow along the way!

I talk on the show about how to free our minds from the mainstream or matrix level programming that we have been taught through society, government schools, Hollywood, big tech, etc. Programming is not just what is imprinted upon us by the matrix though, it’s also freeing our minds from our own programming which includes negative thoughts, loops and patterns that keep us stuck in these places that we don’t want to be.

The work I do is all about helping us all free ourselves from “the matrix”. This means freeing ourselves (and our minds) from the programming we have been taught throughout society, government schools (aka indoctrination centers), hollywood, big tech and the list goes on.

Programming is not just what is imprinted upon us by the Matrix, it’s also freeing our minds from our own negative thoughts, loops and patterns that keep us stuck in these places that we don’t want to be.We have a choice and we get to end the suffering that goes on in our minds (which is often self-imposed) and we can live better as a result!

In this livestream, I share some thoughts on how easy it is for us to believe we have the full story about something, when we don't, and what we do to ourselves as a result of that. Many of us automatically go to negative thinking, assuming the worst and that there is no possible outcome that will make us happy.

How often do we say the phrase, “have a great day”? Have you ever really thought of what it takes to actually have a great day? How can you set yourself up to make sure you have a great day? And what that might entail?

In this episode, we are going to find out exactly how to do that. Joining me today is Jarrett Robertson, author of the book; "Make It a Great Day – How to Feel Awesome So That You Can Help Others". There are so many “how to” books out there that involve time, energy, money, resources, memberships, coaches, etc., that you can become intimidated by it all, and it can be hard to follow through. Jarrett makes the process simple and fun and shows how easy it can be to take control of our days.

Jarrett and I cover how we can make small changes in our daily routines to ensure we make it a great day. We touch on how the "news" and social media impact us and the brain's response to this (the research he found is fascinating!),  how hormones impact how we feel, what amygdala hijacking is and how our emotions get involved.  We talk about the importance of setting yourself up for success with sleep (actually treating it as a bigger deal than most of us probably do),  how that voice in your head holding you back is usually wrong and what it really takes to make it a great day. Jarrett offers amazing insight and a quote that will really help keep you centered and making better decisions.

Many of us talk about being happy & think about being happy, but are we really taking the steps to get there? I know in my own life, I can look at times where I wanted nothing more than to be happy, but my thoughts and actions were the opposite of that. It's easy to get caught up in the negativity and that negativity takes up a lot of space energetically. I wonder if we realize the cost of that energy taking up space?

I had an experience over the holidays that I wanted to share with you this week. It was an epiphany I had about separation and how I purposely choose separation as a form of protection, and then get mad, angry, upset, etc. that I'm separate.
Once I was able to see what was happening in this particular experience, I could see the patterns across all areas of my life with my relationship with my partner, my friendships, co-workers, etc. Additionally, this awareness that I uncovered is also another layer of healing I thought I was done with. Funny how that works, just when we think we are done, there are always other layers!
In this episode I share my story of choosing separation, and what I've done to soften that belief so I can choose something better. As a bonus in this episode, I share some thoughts on how you can disassociate yourself from those thoughts that want to come up so you don't become them. Instead, you get to easily choose something different. Repeatedly choosing something different will give you a new experience and one I know we are all in need of in 2022!

I talk a lot on the show about what we experience as humans. What we go through, the questions we ask the universe and the journey life takes us on. Life is messy. Yet, through many of the challenges we face, we often find our strength, our perseverance, and our resilience to overcome the difficult times.

Here we are at the end of another year, which seemed to somehow go both slow and fast at the same time. How that happens, I will never know.

In this episode, I do a short recap of some of the bigger things I was both surprised by and proud of in 2021 on a personal level. I think you will find that you have some of the same when you look back over the past year.

I also share my experience of free-falling, or letting go of control, and making the decision to not have all the answers but still move ahead anyway. And surprisingly, I’ve found relief in that!

You’ll hear about some easy things you can do to leave the old behind (like really easy, some just take a minute or two) and also some suggestions on how to get clear on what you want to bring in for the new year. Instead of focusing on the “things”, what if we focused on ourselves first? And by ourselves, I mean our energetic self and lining up with that first?

My intention with this episode is to help you think out of the typical “new year’s resolutions” box and set (and then be able to stand) in meaningful intentions. What is synchronicity and how does it show up in our lives? This week my guest is Etan Ilfeld, the creator of The Synchronicity Oracle Deck. Etan and I have a lively & fun discussion about really understanding what synchronicity is and how we can use it to our advantage to tap into our unconscious mind.
