Jimi Hendrix - Jam back at the house, Izabella, Get my heart back together

As we temporarily step back in time in response to Covid-19 2020, here is a gem. While thrifting, we came across this mint copy of a classic for a couple of bucks. In part I, one of my favorite stories of all-time, A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens and in part II, Lost Horizon by James Hilton.

A Civilized Gun Control Debate: Armageddon Must Be Near

Yeah, I know, impossible right? It actually took place. A civilized, mature, and intellectually honest debate over gun control in these United States. Fellow Arizonian, Jordan McManus, and I sit down in the hopes of advancing the discussion on the value of our American gun culture. I believe we succeeded, you be the judge.

The topics and questions include:

What does the 2nd Amendment mean?
Can we really fight the government?
Are wars won or lost by violence?
What does well-regulated mean?
Who comprises the militia?
Who would lead and control the revolution?
The Bureau of Land Management and Bundy’s versus Standing Rock Sioux
Does it make more sense to change the law or blame the police?
Who can and cannot obtain guns?
Is it all worth it?

About Show:

Depending on your perspective, the criminal justice systems of Western civilization are either broken or operating precisely as intended. Either way, the jury is no longer out. Our institutions must be wholly reimagined. The philosophical foundations of thought need to be brought into the 21st century.

Building off the famous work of Cesare Beccaria, Michael Wood constructs the pathways to the enlightenment period of justice. A life course that wove from a 17-year-old US Marine to a decade on the streets of Baltimore to international police consultant to a scholar of management systems provided a unique combination of experiences for Michael Wood. It was not an easy journey to go from an instrument of violence to an instrument of peace. It will not be an easy journey for you either, but it is the one that we owe to the future. To make a safer world for our children to enjoy life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

We are now reading Chapter 7 of Crimes and Punishments, The Obscurity of Laws.

In this episode of Nuance II, Interview Edition, Michael Wood Jr. talks with a former SJW who bleeds blue, Adrian Elliot, about current events, the mid-term elections, the Thousand Oaks shooting, gun control, and what are the best pathways for liberal or progressive reforms. Part 2 of 2.

Was this election a referendum on the president?
What do we make of the massive increase in turnout from the 2014 midterms?
12 million more democrats voted but the Senate still controls congress — what do we make of this representation?
Was voter suppression present in gubernatorial elections in Florida and Georgia? (I’m intentionally citing a conservative news source there)
Will the election of more young, female, and non-white Representatives to the House change the tenor of the rhetoric on the capitol?
Will forthcoming House investigations and subpoenas end up casting the Democrats as obstructionists (and the President as a victim) when it comes time for the 2020 general? See S.E. Cupp’s tweet.
Is the GOP the party of Trump?
Thousand Oaks Shooting
Is the “mental health” excuse valid or overused?
What are possible hypothetical methods of restricting gun access and increasing safety?
Why does the United States have more guns and therefore more shootings per capita than any other developed nation?
