The contrast is really incredible. Two very different marches in Washington, D.C. reveal how America is divided between those who are pro-life and those who support abortion. See for yourself.

This video showcases and compares the annual March for Life with the feminist Women’s March for three consecutive years: 2018, 2019, and 2020. The annual March for Life is the largest event in the world focused on stopping abortion. It's peaceful, prayerful and respectful.

The Women's March, however, promotes abortion on demand as well as homosexuality and transgenderism. This event is angry, vulgar and obscene. These marches represent two opposing worldviews, two Americas: One America fights for moral values and the other America tramples on those values. Ultimately, there is a battle between the America that loves God and His Law and the America that promotes vice and the culture of death.

Which march would you go to? Which America will you fight for?

When Irish broadcaster Raidió Teilifís Éireann (RTÉ) featured a blasphemous portrayal of God as a rapist in their New Year’s Eve ‘Countdown Show,’ Catholics protested. On January 9, volunteers from the Irish Society for Christian Civilisation (ISFCC) went to RTÉ’s headquarters in Dublin. They were joined by three hundred Catholics from across Ireland who prayed and made reparation in front of the location. This gathering was spontaneous and leaderless, conforming to Ireland’s rigid COVID-19 prevention measures that have banned any organized events, even prayer.

About thirty officers of the An Garda Síochána (Irish Police) also went to the peaceful and legal gathering. They first directed their efforts on those they incorrectly judged to be “leading” the prayers.

However, thanks be to God, three hundred people came to pray and make reparation. As a consequence, RTÉ issued an apology in the following terms: “RTÉ acknowledges this did not show due respect to religious beliefs and was also unduly offensive to many viewers and RTÉ unreservedly apologises.”

Encouraged by this victory, the Irish Society for Christian Civilisation trusts in Our Lady, asking for calm, confidence, and courage. By defending God, the Blessed Mother and Christian society, it hopes to return Ireland not only to the land of saints and scholars but also to a land of fighters for the Catholic Church.

Saved by Grace through Faith and not by Works is a long standing disagreement between Catholic and Protestants with regard to justification and salvation. So what are we to make of this? What does the Bible say?

As with everything in scripture, the context is always key.

As Dr. Pitre will show, when Paul speaks of being saved through faith, it is with regard to people's initial justification by being made right with God and grafted into the Body of Christ (usually through Baptism) fas opposed to when they were not part of the Body of Christ.

And, when Paul (and for that matter Jesus in the Gospels and St. James in his epistle) speak of salvation by works, it is always after the initial justification and being made righteous (either during this life and/or at the end of time in the final judgment).

Watch this video and be sure to pay close attention to Paul's context: When are we saved by grace through faith? At the point of initial justification (which is completely gratuitous on God's part), when we are initially made righteous (typically through Baptism, the sacrament of dying and rising to new life for Paul). And, when are we saved or justified through works? After we are part of the Body of Christ in the context of our final justification at our final judgment and/or to maintain communion in the body of Christ so as to not be "cut down" or cut off as Jesus tells us in Matthew 7 and John 15.

Early parts of the Bible depict humans living incredibly long lives—some of them for over 900 years! Are Catholics really supposed to believe that humans lived that much longer than they do today? Fr. Mike Schmitz discusses this question on Catholic Answers Live.

Whenever I’ve had the opportunity to learn about some theological controversy that formed some part of Church history, I can’t help sympathizing with the person or group who was found to be wrong.
This is especially true for the early Christological controversies when they were trying to understand more precisely who Jesus was and what the nature of the relationship was between Christ’s humanity and divinity.
Because whenever I’ve immersed myself in some of those original sources, my first reaction is usually surprise at how sophisticated and complex these early debates were to the point that I find myself admitting that, if I was involved in a controversy like that, I could have easily found myself on the wrong side.

One example that comes to mind for me was the controversy between Nestorius and St. Cyril and the rest of the Church. I won’t bore you with the details, but Nestorius in an effort to appease two theological factions under his care, tried to compromise between them with a proposal that within Jesus were two hypostases, hypostatises, hypostatic? Two substances! – one divine and one human.

In reality, there was one hypostatic union of humanity and divinity, but two natures, one divine and one human.

Now, as an average layman looking at a controversy like that, my initial reaction is often one of almost intellectual despair because if that’s how nuanced and dense our theology can get, and it does, what are the chances that any of us aren’t walking around with all kinds of muddled heretical ideas floating about in our heads? After all, it’s easy to make mistakes right?

In Nestorius’ case, he was removed as Patriarch of Constantinople and eventually exiled to a dessert monastery. And given how easy it appears to be to make intellectual mistakes like that, it’s hard not to sympathize with people like Nestorius who were on the losing end of these controversies.

So how do we reconcile the sever consequences that heretics like Nestorius faced in the history of the Church – sometimes with penalties as severe as death?

Well, the first thing to understand is that heresy, the kind that goes down in the history books, wasn’t a mere intellectual error. In the case of Nestorius, there were several gatherings and councils in which Patriarchs and bishops gathered to debate and discuss whatever controversy was at large.

And they did so with the intention of coming to an agreement about what the truth of the matter is – which is where we get doctrines and dogmas from.

After it’s all said and done, those who had proposed the wrong solution, the heretical one, are given the opportunity to accept the new dogma and this is what distinguishes them from people who have simply made an error to those who persist in heresy.

And in Nestorius’ case, he chose to persist in it. And it’s this audacious persistence that is the true revelation of how evil heresy is.

Heresy, at this point, becomes a rejection of truth and a rejection of your community. It’s the obstinate insistence that you and you alone are right and that instead of committing yourself to being reformed in the image of God through his Church, you want God and his Church to be conformed to your image and your ideas.

Sign of the Cross:
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

The Apostles' Creed:
I believe in God, the Father almighty creator of heaven and earth and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell. On the third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God, the Father almighty. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

The Our Father:
Our Father, who art in heaven hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Hail Mary:
Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, And blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, Pray for us sinners, Now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Glory Be:
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Oh My Jesus:
O my Jesus, forgive us of our sins. Save us from the fires of hell. Lead all souls into heaven, especially those in most need of thy mercy. Amen.

Hail Holy Queen:
Hail Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy, our Life, our Sweetness, and our hope. To thee we cry, poor banished children of Eve. To thee we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this vale of tears. Turn then most gracious advocate, Thine eyes of mercy toward us, and after this, our exile, show unto us, the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus. O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary. Pray for us O Holy Mother of God, That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ. Amen.
