Lecture delivered at Seattle Pacific University. Part of a lecture series on Orthodox Christianity.

In the mid-80's, a massive influx of Evangelical Christians from the Campus Crusade for Christ movement flooded the Antiochian Orthodox Archdiocese. Several thousand of these courageous men and women now make an integral part of the Orthodox Church here in America. They brought with them a love for evangelism, the study of scripture, and youth ministry, and have been instrumental in making Orthodox Christianity understandable to Americans. Their influence continues to have a profound impact today at many evangelical universities, such as Biola University here in California. This is their story.

Presbytera Irene Matta MTh presents the Orthodox Christian Faith which has existed by the grace of the Holy Spirit, from Pentecost until today. The Orthodox Christian Church, present in Eastern hemisphere from apostolic times has arrived in America, The History of the Renaissance has been so perverted by western "historians" using Charlemagne's re-write of events, that we spend time here giving origins of Renaissance of arts and letters in the flight of Eastern Empire emigres from imminent fall of Constantinople by the Turks (1453 a.d) Please contact us at Orthodox Mission, POBox 2395 Santa Maria CA 93457 for free information and times of classes on " What is Orthodox Christianity" Call 805-361-0433 for more information.

Understanding the teachings of Prophets and of Christ Himself the God-Man, requires that our contemporary western minds step away from the pagan view of the three-tiered worldview taught in all churches by Augustine of Hippo. The Frankish papacy has infected their own and "reformed" churches (Calvinism, etc) with the closed universe which imagines that heaven is "far away" in the future of "Beatific Vision". The Apostles were taught the worldview of the Hebrew Prophets from Genesis onwards, in which God the Creator interacts with mercy in the lives of Mankind His creatures and all of His Creation visible and invisible. Satan wars against the freedom given to Mankind by God, and ensnares us all with the fear of Death and the power of Death. Christ sets us free (Gal. 5:) "for freedom Christ has set us free"! We are able to once again freely choose to obey God (or not) in His gentle, and Life-giving commands which guide us in the wholeness of our human person seen perfectly in Christ Jesus, the God-Man!

Judith Irene Matta discusses the human person's hunger for Truth in order to set ourselves and our lives aright. 30 minute version of the June program for Santa Maria CA television. Archbishop Lazar presents a different talk here on the correct understanding of the salvation of our entire person, Body and soul. Contact Orthodox Christian Mission P O Box 2395, Santa Maria, CA 93457 for copies of DVD or booklets and information about the Holy Orthodox Faith of the Apostles passed down to us by the grace and power of the All-Holy Spirit.

This video features the Very Reverend Fr. Raphael Barberg of St. James the Apostle Orthodox Church in Westminster, Maryland. In this interview, Fr. Raphael explains the teachings of the Orthodox Church from its ancient past (as the "Original" Church) to its role in Christianity today. Highly recommended for all interested in Christianity and Church history.

FIRST CHANT: 0:00-2:49
(Megalynarion to the Thetokos)

Speechless be the lips of the impious
who refuse to reverence
thy revered icon which is known
by the name Directress,
and which hath been depicted
for us by the Apostle Luke the Evangelist.

SECOND CHANT: 2:50-5:50
(Psalm 140(141))

Lord, I have cried unto Thee, hearken unto me, hearken unto me, O Lord. Lord, I have cried unto Thee, hearken unto me; attend to the voice of my supplication, when I cry unto Thee: Hearken unto me, O Lord.

Let my prayer be set forth as incense before Thee, the lifting up of my hands as an evening sacrifice. Hearken unto me, O Lord.

THIRD CHANT: 5:50-6:12
(Psalm 141(142))

Bring my soul out of prison, that I may praise thy name:

FOURTH CHANT: 6:13-7:45
(Vesper, Tone 6 Sunday of the 318 Nicaea Fathers)

O Christ, Prossessor of victory over Hades, You ascended the Cross so that You might raise those who sit in darkness with You. O Free among the dead, overflowing with life from Your own light. O Almighty Savior, have mercy on us.

FIFTH CHANT: 7:46-11:48
(The Songs of Ascent - Vesper, Tone 5 Sunday)

When I am troubled I sing to Thee like David, O my Savior: Deliver my soul from a deceitful tongue. Blessed is the life of those who dwell in the desert places, Divine love giveth them wings. By the Holy Spirit all things are unshaken, both visible and invisible; for He hath sovereign power, being undeniably one of the Trinit Lift up thyself to the mountains, O my soul; go thither from whence cometh our help. Let Thy right hand hover over me, O Christ, and guard me from every misfortune. Let us sing to the Holy Spirit, as we contemplate God: Thou art God, life, love, light, and intellect, Thou art goodness, and Thou reignest unto the ages.
Filled with great joy at the words of those who say unto me: 'Let us go into the courts of the Lord', I offer up my prayers. Fearful things are accomplished in the house of David; for a fire is found there, burning every shameful thought. To the Holy Spirit belongeth the lordship of life, for from Him every living being hath its breath, as also from the Father together with the Son.

SIXTH CHANT: 11:49-17:24
(Eothinon XI, Mode pl. IV)

Glory to Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Showing yourself to your Disciples after the Resurrection, O Saviour, you entrusted to Simon the pasturing of the sheep, as repayment for love, demanding the care of shepherding. And therefore he said: If you are my friend Peter, shepherd my lambs, shepherd my sheep. But he at once showing his affection, inquired about the other Disciple. At their intercessions, O Christ, guard your flock from wolves that ravage it.

SEVENTH CHANT: 17:25-20:51
(Thrice Holy hymn - "Trisagion")

Holy God, Holy Mighty, Holy Immortal, Have mercy on us.

EIGHTH CHANT: 20:52-24:04
(Psalm 17(18):2-3)

I will love thee, O Lord, my strength. The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer.

NINTH CHANT: 24:05-27:22
("Axion Estin" hymn)

It is truly right to bless thee, O Theotokos,
thou the ever blessed, and most pure, and the Mother of our God.
Thou the more honorable than the cherubim,
and beyond compare more glorious than the seraphim,
who without corruption gavest birth to God the Word,
thou the true Theotokos, we magnify thee.

TENTH CHANT: 27:23-32:55
