What it means to be sovereign

Like many, I’ve been on a journey these past couple of years, learning what it means to be sovereign. I have the Covid crisis to thank for that: it has helped me remember who I am, blessed with an equal right to health, freedom and happiness as everyone else on the Earth. This is what we hope to empower as part of World Council for Health’s mission, which aims to decentralise responsibility and control of health to us all as individuals.

One person blazing a trail in this respect is Ruth Skölmli. To me, Ruth embodies sovereignty, both in her strength of spirit and the fearless way she navigates life. Her expertise in this area has been invaluable for our team: she has been supporting us in exploring sovereignty, and I am so delighted she joined me for this Tess Talks, as she has so much wisdom to share. If you have ever wondered what sovereignty looks like, this conversation is a golden opportunity to find out.

Ruth is also an innovator in creating sovereign solutions for these challenging times, such as developing a new type of active enterprise to replace the old system of ‘dead speak’ – that is, corporations. Stay tuned as I will invite her back sometime to share this important work.

In the meantime, I hope you enjoy this gentle conversation. And if you decide you’d like to know more, Ruth has a course available on her excellent website, Sovereign Natural Empowerment. She offers this at no charge.

Dr. Kat Lindley is a Croatian-born, American trained board-certified family physician with a direct primary care practice in Texas. Her passion has always been helping people. She became a family physician because she loved the idea of taking care of the whole family and seeing the family grow. Later in her career, she became interested in helping find solutions to the broken healthcare system.

Doctor Lindley is involved with many medical organizations, including American Academy of Physicians and Surgeons, is on the Steering Committee of World Council for Health, and is a passionate advocate for her profession, her patients and veteran healthcare.

In this video, Kat shares her vision for healthcare including the true role of the physician in supporting people’s health and well-being. In her own words: “I realized early on in my career that medicine is more than just the practice of it. Medicine is also an opportunity to become a voice for patients and colleagues. My desire to make a difference led me to working with some amazing individuals with the same goal, to make medicine better for everyone while pursuing the three important tenets of the American way of life: life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. There is a better way and together we will make a difference.”

David, Reaching People’s founder, has 25 years of experience consulting with multinational clients and individuals from all walks of life. Reaching People analyses the elements involved in reaching people, from cognitive dissonance to storytelling.

In this Tess Talks, I had a fascinating discussion with David about the role of behavioural sciences in the state of the world. I learned so much about the barriers that have been put in place to ensure people like me are not being heard about ivermectin and vaccine harms. David also shares practical tips about how to talk to family and friends about what’s going on in a way that overcomes resistance and opens up genuine dialogue (remember that?). If you’ve been struggling to reach people in the propaganda-fuelled world we currently live in, this conversation is for you.

Nickita Starck is a birth doula and the founder of When Push Comes to Shove, a maternity service specialising in birth physiology, education and advocacy for women, midwives and doulas. In this heartening conversation, we explore why childbirth has become so medicalised and what needs to change. Nickita shares what it means to be a doula and how doulas empower women to trust in the extraordinary capacity of their bodies to bring forth new life. I warmly invite you to listen in and bask in Nickita’s wisdom and positivity around pregnancy, childbirth and those precious first days of motherhood.

In this wonderfully enriching conversation with Darren Deojee, we explore the subject of gender and look at why there is so much confusion around this complex topic. In today’s terms, Darren would be called a mentor, masculinity/femininity guide, activist, entrepreneur, strategist and much more by the various people he serves. Once upon a time, he may have been called a medicine man.

I asked Darren why the masculine and feminine have become so imbalanced in our society. His answer was erudite, thought-provoking and deeply enlightening. In this video, Darren shares many gems, including clear insight as to how we heal the imbalance, starting with ourselves.

The first episode of my new series of one-to-one conversations with some of the brightest hearts and minds in healthcare.

This week’s guest is Dr. Anna Forbes, who shares her extensive experience in Integrative Medicine and talks about how other health professionals may be able to move quickly into this field using their existing skillset. As mentioned in my previous announcement, this one is probably of more interest to doctors and other health professionals, however, do tune in if you wish - medical professional or not.

The past couple of years have given me a deep appreciation of how much wisdom, heart, and spirit exists within our global community. There are many brilliant people with inspired ideas about how we can restore our health and be truly empowered. Often, listening to someone share their insight, I wish I could broadcast their words so that everyone could benefit.

I’m delighted to have launched a series of one-to-one conversations between myself and some of the brightest hearts and minds in healthcare. The series is called Tess Talks, where a special guest will join me on a weekly basis to dive deep into what A Better Way really looks like.
