Stuckey Strikes out on Mormons: A Response to Allie Beth Stuckey and Lynn Wilder. Allie Beth Stuckey is a Christian commentator who works for the Blaze, a conservative media outlet. And she interviewed Lynn Wilder, a lady who converted to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with her husband when she was in her 20’s, she eventually taught at Brigham Young University, and 30 years after she joined she left the Church and became an Evangelical. Ultimately Wilder admits to a surprising lack of knowledge surrounding the scriptures and doctrine while she was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ and a professor at BYU, and both her and Stuckey don’t seem to have a good grasp on the subjects they discuss in this interview. I hope that everyone who follows Christ finds the joy and peace that He promises, and I just wish that this interview was a little bit more focused on getting facts about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints correct, as well as inviting others to come and see the Savior of the World for themselves, regardless of the real or perceived denominational disagreements.

The Gaston movie that could have been - Disney at one time was planning on a Beauty and the Beast Prequel, staring Gaston and LaFou. A Response to an “Open Letter on Book Banning”. Have you heard people discussing book bans of late? Because recently a Utah author put out an “Open letter on book banning” that I wanted to highlight. The only two instances I can find when I searched for “Utah banned books” was from last year that listed 9 books pulled from a Utah school district’s libraries, and one from earlier this year that cited 52 restricted books in a different school district. This is why this letter makes me angry. To write a letter because you are concerned about “vitriol and hatred” aimed at certain books, and skip over the literal pornographic nature of said books makes me think that either 1) this letter was written and endorsed with the best of intentions using very limited or biased knowledge on the subject or 2) it was written and endorsed to try and distract from the blatant sexualization of children's books.

When people use the term ‘election denial’ or label someone as an ‘election denier’, what do they mean? In this video I explore the only definition of the term I can find, then review the history of electoral objections in the US. Mike Lee vs Evan McMullin Debate Recap: As a Utah resident I’ve been following the Utah Senate midterm elections with interest, and now that the general election debate has happened, I’d like to recap my thoughts on the most interesting parts of that debate! The debate was spicy, honestly similar to the ads that have been running from both sides. I go over both parties take on federal spending, and then address McMullin’s statements that Lee ‘urged the white house when it lost to find fake electors to overturn the will of the people’ and that ‘that was the most egregious betrayal of our nation’s constitution in its history by a US senator’. So I go and read the relevant portions of text messages between Mike Lee and Marc Meadows (President Trump’s Chief of Staff) that were obtained and published earlier this year. Even if we look on Lee’s actions in the absolute worst light and intentions possible, to say his actions were the most egregious in history is laughable. I go back and cover spending because it doesn’t seem like Lee can do right in McMullin’s eyes. If Lee goes along with spending he is part of the problem, and if he opposes it he is part of the problem. Seems like a catch 22 to me. I also briefly address the third party ads.

The Importance of Curiosity and Investigation: A discussion of Conspiracies - Folding Ideas Response. Folding Ideas put together a video that covered both flat earthers and Qanon believers. But do you know what drives me crazy? He doesn’t seem to have ‘fact checked’ or ‘thought for himself’ on this topic. He talks about people who ‘fixate on co-morbid vaccine conspiracies or bleach treatment conspiracies and start giving their children bleach’, when in reality government entities are now telling us about the negative side effects of the Covid shot, and that as far as I could research I couldn't actually find a single story about anyone drinking or injecting bleach because they heard it would fight Covid. To paraphrase Common Sense Soap Box, ‘there are a lot of insane theories out there, but just because flat earthers are a thing doesn’t mean that every conspiracy theory is insane. And dismissing everything you disagree with as a ‘conspiracy theory’ is just as crazy if not crazier than believing in the most crack-pot theories’.

The Only Reasonable Origin of the Book of Mormon. This video is a super cut of sorts, where I’ve gathered some of the best and most convincing research of the Book of Mormon into one place. I start off and end with the testimony of Elder Holland on the Book of Mormon, and then go into FAIR talks on the various origin theories for the Book of Mormon and why they lack merit, a FAIR talk analyzing the various voices and word choices of different characters within the Book of Mormon, a detailed look into the circumstances and witnesses of the Book of Mormon, and the final logic tree of why I think the only reasonable origin of the Book of Mormon is that it is from God. All these arguments and facts are nice to bolster my testimony, but ultimately I believe the Book of Mormon is the Word of God because I have studied it many times, and continue to get the answers and assurances from God that it is His word, and that by studying the Book of Mormon I have come closer to Christ than from any other book.

Take your issues up with the Old Testament: A discussion of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Polygamy and Priesthood. I feel like there are many who don't grasp how both polygamy and priesthood restrictions based on lineage are not exclusive to the Church of Jesus Christ, but they are the common history of all Christianity. Now I’m not saying I have all the answers to the specifics of why the Lord has commanded or allowed polygamy for his servants or limited the Priesthood and administering it’s ordinances by lineage in either this dispensation or in previous ones, but I am saying that many of the criticism spoken toward the Church of Jesus Christ either are ignorant of Christianity’s roots, or presume God’s intent where He has not clarified. But until He does, I will do my best to follow the light and knowledge I’ve been given, and I hope you can do the same!

This is a response video on incomparable world views, specifically discussing expressive individualism, Johnny Harris’ video “Why I Left the Mormon Church”, and the world view of Christianity in general, and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints specifically. Johnny embraced the worldview of expressive individualism that put him at odds with the Christian faith. Then he moved from a place of being a religious majority to a minority, and he decided that a year’s worth of prayer and study was sufficient to get an answer from God. The biggest issue in my mind is that Johnny seems to believe that ‘self expression and self actualization’ can and should trump and be at odds with Obedience to God. To me it is obvious that if there is a God Who is our Heavenly Father, obedience to His commandments would be the only way to truly achieve self actualization.

Death Penalty Deep Dive. Should we have the death penalty? It’s a question that many people have passionate opinions about, but funny enough, I don’t. So I decided to dig into the subject to see if I stand distinctly on one side or the other. Once you get passed that strictly moral layer though, I think there are some other arguments for or against the death penalty, questions about how much it costs, if it deters crime or not, and how prevalent it is, exonerations, and other such things. I take a look at data from the NAACP, the Death Penalty Information Project, and the Innocence Project on things like death row and other things. I also make references to Joe Rogan, Kamala Harris, Julius Jones, and Actual Justice Warrior. Ultimately, I still don’t have an answer on if I support or oppose the death penalty or capital punishment.

Everything scary is right wing, apparently. Have you heard the idea that 'right wing extremism is more dangerous than left wing extremism', or 'right wing extremists are more violent than left wing extremists'? When I hear claims like this, they are usually referring to the Murder and Extremism report produced by the Anti-Defamation League every year. So what do I make of the ADL report detailing the ratio of left to right wing extremism murders? I think it's a blatantly biased organization producing a blatantly biased report. It’s quite possible that right wing extremism is responsible for more homicides than left wing extremism, but I have no confidence in the ADL’s data and conclusions based on it’s obvious omissions other tenuous inclusions.

What's the first thing that comes to mind when I say "mental health week"? For Utah State University, the apparent answer is "intersectionality", followed closely by "discrimination, oppression, marginalization", and identity politics. They even go so far as pole dancing for mental health week. The jokes write themselves, and you can't tell parody apart from reality. The good news is apparently everyone agrees that mental illness is connected to activism, intersectionality, and universities. The bad news is a significant portion of the local university's mental health week was actually just ideological indoctrination sessions.

Why people leave their faith for politics. It can sometimes feel that way when someone you looked up to for their faith walks away. It’s hard, and it hurts. As I’ve pondered on the subject, I’ve noticed is that many people who are leaving their faith these days do so either in the name of inherently political reasons, or they seem to replace their religious faith with political activism shortly after. I just hope that they can know and name why they have moved away from their faith, instead of incorrectly concluding that it has been their faith that moved away from them.

The Utah State Board of Education has a draft document called Gender Identity Guidance for Utah Public Education up for public comment until this Monday, but personally, I think even these suggestions are out of line, and are taking activist positions in the name of benefiting all students. The road to hell is paved in good intentions, and I’m not in favor of these paving stones outlined in this document.

Civil Rights Hijackers include Al Sharpton and Joy Reid in this episode of Divisive Definitions. I take a look at race hustlers who have used recent events, specifically Kim Potter’s shooting of Daunte Wright, as evidence of ‘systemic racism’ or part of some larger racial narrative. This racializing of tragedies has happened recently with Micheal Brown, Breonna Taylor, Rayshard Brooks, Jacob Blake, Kyle Rittenhouse, Daunte Wright, Ma'kia Bryant, and Gabby Petito to name a few. Now you might be saying – ‘this is easy to take shots at people’s statements now that the facts are all out.’ But I disagree – the easy thing is to be a race hustler and try to push an agenda off of a tragedy, the hard thing to do is to bite your tongue, wait for the facts to come out, and be reliable and reasonable.

A Lesson on Morality: Jasnah and Kyle. There are many questions about the morality and circumstances regarding self defense and provocation, so with the Rittenhouse trial just ended, I wanted to take a look at an example of self defense in a novel, specifically The Lesson in the Way of Kings, where Jasnah gives Shallan a harsh but thought provoking moral conundrum. Knowing Better Endorses CES Letter? Knowing better did a deep dive a little bit ago on my Church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. But I raised my eyebrows when he fully endorsed the CES letter as an ‘epic take down’. So I show some passages from Jeremy Runnell’s CES Letter, as well as parts from a Faithful Reply to the CES Letter. All religions have these leaps of faith, and I’m not trying to condemn Jeremy or anyone for having a different level of certainty in a given subject. But when the CES letter throws objectively false claims and quotes out of context in with legitimate leaps of faith, it makes me highly suspicious that the points raised aren’t sincere.
