To celebrate Independence Day, today's film is America. Almost a decade after his controversial film about the Civil War, Birth Of A Nation, D. W. Griffith turned his attention to the American Revolutionary War. This was supposed to be his comeback film, but it turned out to be a box office bomb. Even though his career continued, his films became less and less popular.

To celebrate Valentine's Day, today's film is Girl Shy. This was Harold Lloyd's sixth feature film and the first one he independently produced after he split with his long-time producer Hal Roach.

Today's film is Detour. Based on Martin M. Goldsmith's 1939 novel, the film was released by the Producers Releasing Corporation which was one of the smaller studios known as Poverty Row and was shot in just 14 days on a budget of $100,000. While it did well on release, the film has since been praised as one of the finest in film noir.
