We all feel like a small piece of a very big puzzle from time to time. It's true! During the reign of King Josiah of the Old Testament, a prophetess named Huldah was instrumental in doing her part to help the wayward nation of Israel move back toward honoring God's law. Her name might not be well-known, but her part was important in purifying Israel under King Josiah. You might have a small part in this time in history, but it is nevertheless important. Speak truth.

Covenants are binding. If a person or group or entity intrudes into a covenant they aren't a part of, it's not only pretense, but it will be judged, if not by the concerned parties, by God, Himself. However, we witness God's character when we see that He holds up His end of the bargain even when we don't, and the blessings of His covenants reach past our lack of merit with His great mercy.

We have no business intruding into a covenant that we are not part of. But Christ offers His covenant to us and we can agree to it. We often think of having a choice as being able to choose between something good or bad. But sometimes we are faced with two awful choices. It is then that we must admit we still have a choice to make. And the immediate, convenient choice isn't necessarily the best one in the long run. What you do is up to you.
*Note: It was Patrick Henry, not Nathan Hale, who said "Give me liberty or give me death". Nathan Hale said, "I regret that I have but one life to give for my country".

No one wants to be a coward, and God disapproves of that trait; but sometimes it's hard to be brave. If we consider the difference between fear and cowardice it will show us that "courage is fear holding on a minute longer". Perhaps giving in to peer pressure by conforming to beliefs or actions we'd do well do step carefully past is more cowardly than simply feeling fearful.

Turbulent times often lead people to think more seriously about spiritual things. We wonder about an afterlife and if there is something we each can do to affect our own. For those who are asking the questions, "How can I go to heaven? How can I be forgiven? How can I be saved?", this video is for you.

A faithful restoration requires time and painstaking effort to remove what doesn't belong and to regain what was originally intended. A renovation results in something that may not look at all like the original, but a restoration most certainly will. Our nation and our earth seem to be undergoing a restoration. While it can feel quite unsettled, the results will be amazing! Pray and hold on.

Storms come to different parts of the world in various seasons, and they bring with them both good and bad. It helps if we anticipate when one will hit so that we can be prepared. However, sometimes there's no warning; which makes it even more important for us to think about things ahead of time so we can take swift action. No matter the type of storm, we'll do well to remember the words from You'll Never Walk Alone from Rodgers and Hammerstein's 1945 musical, Carousel: "When you walk through a storm hold your head up high and don't be afraid of the dark . . ."

The phrase "red herring" describes something used to distract, confuse, or lead us down a false trail. Living in a distractible society during times of uncertainty contributes to the ease at which we are misled. It is up to us to focus on the most important thing or things and sharpen our skills at recognizing when an event or news item happens at a time that serves to distract us from something even more important than that convenient distraction. Watch out for red herrings!

Our status or the hardship or ease of the times in which we live doesn't need to determine our goodness, though it might affect the form that goodness takes. During Israel's slavery in Egypt, the Pharaoh instructed the Hebrew midwives to kill the male newborns. They didn't, because they had more respect for God than even a high positioned Pharaoh. Their actions are one of the reasons Moses survived infancy to become one of the greatest leaders of all time.

Human nature tends to always side with the same groups whether they identify as oppressed, peace officers, legal systems, or any number of organizations. It seems better, though, to take a stand on the side of truth; and if that truth leads us from one side to a different side or somewhere in-between, then we follow it. The law is important, yet we must ask whether that law aligns itself with the law of nature and nature's God or something else. The struggle is real! So we finally must join with nothing other than right and righteousness according to God, Himself. And that is the best place to stand.

There is a reason that God looks at the heart. A brave heart, courage, determination, and perseverance are all more important that physical stature or perceived stature in culture or society. We must remember that and stand firm on principle and righteousness regardless of how we might appear to others. God, Himself, chose to send His only Son first, as a baby in a manger.

Looking for something fun to read during the holidays? Here it is!

There is a vibrational quality to music that affects our bodies. That resonance doesn't act only on an individual basis; but as we make music with others, it connects and unifies us. I believe there are healing properties to music as yet undiscovered. Make music. It's good for you!

I began to notice this a few years ago, and it has increased exponentially since then: People from varying nations and locations, from all walks of life and life experiences are searching for and discovering Jesus! They talk about it on social media, announce their baptisms, and express their newfound or rediscovered Christianity with gratefulness. I admire these people who are finding a new path, the best path, and willing to take it. It is during times of hardship that we are drawn to the Source of help and direction, our Creator. And that is what is happening. It's amazing to watch. Micah 4

There's nothing like the scent of fresh-baked bread! Yet we're facing a near-future with food shortages due to supply chain trouble, farmers coerced into destroying their crops, and the very real possibility of being banned from grocery stores depending on our health choices. Where do we go to get food? There are some great small family farm and alternative supply options. If you look in the Bible, you will find that God provides us food through plants we don't usually think of as food, through animals, and fish. Food is from God's hand, and we often forget that. But we're also reminded that "man cannot live by bread alone". Knowing the Provider is a great way to eat and drink the more important things of life.

Money might not lead to a happier life, but it can lead to a more comfortable life. People can be tempted to look the other way when they find something at work that is illegal or immoral, they might sell their vote or voice, they might do any number of wrong things just to acquire money. Bribery takes many forms. Yet money is low in the ladder of important things when all is said and done. Character and honoring God and our own moral standards rate above money. At the end of the day, we answer for our own actions. Following orders is a poor excuse for poor behavior. When we do something that goes against our own beliefs, we loose a bit of our soul. Be strong! Don't sell out.

Many things in life we can let go of; after all, there aren't many things worth the time, effort, or sacrifice to argue over. And, frankly, everyone should be allowed their own opinions anyway. But there are some things - some intangible things like life and liberty that are worth it. Sometimes those important "stand your ground" kind of things are referred to as "a hill I'm willing to die on". In a battle, some quadrants or towns or pieces of land are important to winning the war. While they might seem small, if yielded, they could very well lead to catastrophe. Each one of us decides what is important enough to not yield, no matter the sacrifice. If a person doesn't conclude there is anything in life worth their sacrifice, that can tell them something about their own character. Or lack of it. Think. Pray. Decide what is important enough to be your hill you're willing to die on.

An existential crisis has to do with questioning meaning in one's life. While we might not be experiencing quite that just now, most people are questioning whether things we've always believed to be true actually are. It's important to question, to research, to get to the bottom of something, to evaluate, and so on. Those who are threatened by questions might call names, try to stop you or silence you, or much worse. But truth is one of the most important things in life. The truth will set us free. Question away!

It might be hard to tell who will be a good leader, but we eventually discover it through their actions and the results that come from them. Not everyone is made of leadership material, but every one of us can positively affect our lives by choosing a righteous leader. Be careful who you follow!

If something is repeated often enough or if we think something often enough, we can sometimes grow to believe we actually remember it. This can happen on an individual basis, but there can also be mass false memories. It is best for us to explore and research to determine whether what we think we remember is actually the way it happened or whether what we recall someone saying was truly what that person said. Leaning on what someone else says isn't always as dependable as it might seem.
