I bikepacked 9,000 miles through 48 Syed in 46 weeks.

#bikepacking #bikepackingamerica #usabiketour

I bikepacked 9,000 miles through the lower 48 states in 46 weeks on a fat tire bike. I experienced everything one could imagine and more. I pedaled through sub-freezing temperatures, hail, wind, rain, tornadoes, sandstorms, and triple digit heat. I saw deserts, cities, mountains, rivers, and oceans. I was hit by two trucks, destroyed two cameras, went through two sets of tires, chased by dogs and moose, relieved myself on a rattlesnake, and lost my low gears. I met many people, made new friends, and discovered new and unfamiliar places. But most of all, I found something I've been searching for my whole life, myself.

Bicycle touring through 48 states in 46 weeks was the most epic challenge I’ve accomplished to date, and I can't wait to see what's next on my journey.

In leave Morrisville and head south toward the Delaware border where I’m supposed to be complete.
When I first departed and headed another way out of Harper’s Ferry, I bikepacked in Maryland and forgot something ai couldn’t do without. Frustrated I biked all the way back and never filmed, I guess I was in a panic it being the start of a long journey. After arriving at the Delaware border and falsely celebrating, I bike on the short distance to the Maryland border.

I’ve included a trip highlight reel in the second half of the video I’m sure you don’t want to miss.

I leave my friend Greg’s house and navigate my way across the island till I got to Long Beach.

I took the boardwalk south to Atlantic Beach and took the bridge over the intercoastal to Rockaway Beach where I picked up the Ferry to Pier 11. I fed the birds, enjoyed a hotdog and took the ferry to Belford, New Jersey where I stealth camped 15 yard of the bicycle trail.

I woke up sick and rode to a hotel in Middletown where I would rest up. I left the hotel in very cold conditions with high headwinds mixed either rain. I would stay at a hotel in East Windsor on Christmas Eve before heading out on Christmas Day.

I leave East Windsor and make my way over to the South Riverwalk Park in Trenton. After the trail ended, I pedaled over to the Lower Trenton Bridge where I would cross over into Morrisville, Pennsylvania.

I wake up at a stealth camp north of Jewett City and head south. I stop in Norwich to dry my sleeping bag and continue my journey toward the ferry.

I arrive in New London and get a room for the night. I leave early and pedal to the other side of town to the docks where ai find the ferry that will take me to Long Island.

After arriving in New York, I pedal the island until I meet up with Greg, a friend I met in New Hampshire. He a mutual friend of Alexes, and he’s been a friend since. We go to dinner and I crash overnight.

I leave Brattleboro and head back into New Hampshire. I spend the night in a forest packed with snow as my back worsens.

A snow storm is coming in and I get a room in Gardner, Massachusetts to wait it out.

After the storm I ride south through Rutland and Worcester and find myself at the Rhode Island State Line late in the evening. I find a place to stealth camp behind a Walmart in Putnam, Connecticut and get a good nights rest.

I leave Putnam and ride east to Plainfield and stealth camp behind a Walmart in Lisbon.

I leave Sandwich and pedal to Moultonborough where I pick up a repair kit to fix my top tube bag. The strap broke and it was no longer working. The repair needles wouldn’t work with the fabric so I cancelled the idea and moved on.

I pedaled through Center Harbor and on to Laconia where I pulled my back completely out getting on Bob. Before I could get a hotel, Alex came to the rescue and put me up four more days till I healed.

Alex took me back to Laconia and we parted ways once more. I headed south to Concord where I had a room waiting with Chinese across the street.

After a nights rest I pedaled my way to Hillsboro and had lunch and stayed overnight in Keene.

The following morning, with everything on, I made my way to the Vermont State line and had lunch in Brattleboro.

I fly into Manchester, NH and meet up with my friend Alex Vonspeed who lives in Sandwich. I’ll take some time off the bike and heal.

Alex and I visit Club Motorsports where we take the Porsche around the track and I’m introduced to the local racing community.

We visit a private car collection in Laconia and wind up at a locals post and beam barn for a Friendsgiving.

Somewhere along the way I manage to pedal to Maine and back.

I leave the Ohio state line and bikepack through the night and camp outside of Cincinnati.

I wake up early rushing for the bike shop and flight. After crossing the bridge and arriving in Covington, Kentucky, I was hit by a speeding van coming out of an alley.

My camera was cracked up but still working. I let the guy off the hook and rushed to the Trek bicycle shot in Ft. Wright to get Bob shipped and I took an Uber to the airport and left on a flight for New Hampshire.

I leave out of Flora, Indiana and head south through small towns and heavy headwinds on my way to Converse to pick up the Converse Junction Trail.

I take the trail south and into the night. At 2:30 a.m. I decided to tent along the trail. I woke up to a weather alert and high winds. A storm was on the way with 50 mph winds and possible tornadoes. I decided to get into a Muncie as fast as possible.

After the storm passed I once again headed south towards Richmond where I headed east to the Ohio State Line.

I wake up in New Buffalo still wet from the Calumet Trail. I went to the laundromat and washed my clothes and bag. I then entered into Indiana and made my way south.

I bicycled to Rochester passing through Plymouth where I was forced to reroute to Michigan Road South.

Leaving Rochester at 3:15 a.m., I pedaled to the Nickelback Trail where I found a field to tent up for the night.

The following morning I took the trail south to Denver for lunch after crashing along the way.

I had lunch with locals in Denver and after my spirits were better I headed to Flora where I got a room and rested for the night.

I leave my friends in Des Moines and ride bike trails through Cedar Rapids passing through small towns along the way.

My high gear chainring slips under pressure, but as long as I have momentum it works for the moment.

I stay at a hotel in Dubuque before touring the city before crossing the Mississippi River and arriving at the Wisconsin State Line.

Jesse and I headed out to the Appalachian Trail to social distance during the start of the pandemic.
We knew we wouldn’t make it to Bland, VA., but we were going to try.

We made it to Franklin, NC when we were informed by “Ms. Janet “ (Trail Angel) that we had made it as far as possible and that traveling home was nearly impossible and that leaving at that moment was the only hope. She was correct, I barely made it on a plane and then only to a friends.

I finally mage it home after two weeks. It was a great time!
