Volodymyr Oleksandrovych Zelenskyy[a] (also romanized as Zelensky or Zelenskiy;[b] born 25 January 1978) is a Ukrainian politician who has been serving as the sixth president of Ukraine since 2019. He was formerly a comedian and actor.
Born to a Ukrainian Jewish family, Zelenskyy grew up as a native Russian speaker in Kryvyi Rih, a major city of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast in central Ukraine. Prior to his acting career, he obtained a degree in law from the Kyiv National Economic University. He then pursued a career in comedy and created the production company Kvartal 95, which produced films, cartoons, and TV shows including the TV series Servant of the People, in which Zelenskyy played a fictional Ukrainian president. The series aired from 2015 to 2019 and was immensely popular. A political party with the same name as the TV show was created in March 2018 by employees of Kvartal 95.
The strangest thing has happened to footage captured by Israeli authorities during the October 7th Hamas attack — it’s disappeared! It turns out that before an investigation could be launched into the failings of the IDF on that day, key video that had been captured was deleted from the pertinent hard drives. But the question is, why? Who deleted the footage and what was the purpose?

Arctic weather enfolded swathes of Russia on Tuesday (December 5), with temperatures in the wilds of Siberia falling to minus 58 degrees Celsius (minus 72 degrees Fahrenheit).
Yakutsk, one of the world's coldest cities which lies some 5,000 km (3,100 miles) east of Moscow, was covered in freezing clouds and fog, drone footage showed.
"I specially came here to Yakutsk to experience such weather - so I am lucky as in December you don't usually get it," said Danila, whose beard, hat and scarf were caked in ice.
"I am actually not that cold as I prepared properly," he said. "If I had not got the right clothes, I would be frozen in minutes."
He said that the extreme temperatures made his coat much stiffer, while his phone lost charge within minutes. Two pairs of gloves were essential, as well as layers of clothes.
Temperatures in parts of the Sakha Republic, a vast region a little smaller than India that is located in the northeastern part of Siberia, went below minus 55 overnight.
In Oymyakon, a settlement in Sakha, the temperature was minus 58 C on Tuesday. Weather forecasters said that would feel like minus 63 C given the humidity and wind.

Tag der Menschenrechte, 599 Strafanzeigen bei der Bundesanwaltschaft eingereicht, die sich gegen die Verantwortlichen für die gesetzliche Einführung einer Impfpflicht in Gesundheitsberufen und bei Angehörigen der Bundeswehr richten. Der Vorwurf lautet, dass die Einführung einer Impfpflicht den Tod unschuldiger Menschen in Kauf nimmt, was einen Verstoß gegen die Allgemeine Erklärung der Menschenrechte und den § 7 des Völkerstrafgesetzbuchs darstellt. Ralf Ludwig bittet zahlreich zu diesem zeitgeschichtlichen Event am 10. Dezember zu erscheinen, um der juristischen Aufarbeitung der Corona-Verbrechen das gebührende Gewicht und damit den Durchbruch zu verleihen.

Advances and applications of nanophotonic biosensors
Nanophotonic devices, which control light in subwavelength volumes and enhance light–matter interactions, have opened up exciting prospects for biosensing. Numerous nanophotonic biosensors have emerged to address the limitations of the current bioanalytical methods in terms of sensitivity, throughput, ease-of-use and miniaturization. In this Review, we provide an overview of the recent developments of label-free nanophotonic biosensors using evanescent-field-based sensing with plasmon resonances in metals and Mie resonances in dielectrics. We highlight the prospects of achieving an improved sensor performance and added functionalities by leveraging nanostructures and on-chip and optoelectronic integration, as well as microfluidics, biochemistry and data science toolkits. We also discuss open challenges in nanophotonic biosensing, such as reducing the overall cost and handling of complex biological samples, and provide an outlook for future opportunities to improve these technologies and thereby increase their impact in terms of improving health and safety.
