Went offshore for some local Yellowfin. "One-stop-shop". Footballs for sure, but a little bigger than last year. Sorry about the water spot(s) :/ - These are the two setup's I was using: - Accurate BV2-400 (50# braid, 6' 30# fluorocarbon topshot) paired with a Shimano Terez TZC-80MH-SR. + Accurate BV2-500 (65# braid, to 50' of Izorline mono, to 2.5' of fluorocarbon topshot). paired with a Shimano Terez TZC-80H-SR

Chartered full day trip aboard the Mission Belle out of Point Loma Sportfishing. Skipjack was kinda finicky that day, but we managed to put a few on deck. Sorry about the trolling rod Steve :(

A few of my buddies landed some better grade Yellowtail, and I stopped fishing to record the action. These were not the 8-12lb fish we'd been landing most of the summer, but a better grade which put the "Bass rods" to the test. Having the proper tackle can help ease some of the pain, haha! Levi hooks up on a better grade Yellowtail and instantly learns if you don't use proper technique it can be brutal. He got a little tough love from his friends, but he stuck in there, and eventually landed a YT anyone can be proud of. Good job Levi!!

I got skunked on this trip, but it was still rad recording the lucky few who scored some tasty BFT. The season has just started, good times ahead!!! Music: Black Highway - JR Tundra

The Wham is Ron "Pops" Mays favorite lure - Why? Because it works. And it's all he fishes, for like EVERYTHING. Eliza demonstrates the simplicity of this Calico candy. Rod: Seeker Inshore Pro 808 Reel: Daiwa Lexa 300HG 8.1 Lure: Whammo (Wham) etc. Unknown if this is from the actual mold, or a current knock off of the classic Wham plastic. Would love to hear from people who know the history of this staple plastic.

After a year of fishing the Shimano Tranx 400HG I'm pretty happy with the reel. For what it was meant to do, in my opinion it meets those marks. Go pick one up and have some fun.

Broke out the "Lift pole" today, and took advantage of a wide open Pacific Bonito bite (Sarda Chiliensis Lineolata). This is absolutely funtime fishing!! Sorry about all the laughing, I was hyped :) None of the Bonito I caught in this video went to waste, it was spoken for before I even headed out. When prepared right, it makes a great tuna sammich!

I had an absolute GoPro fail during this trip, so almost none of the footage was useable. I did manage to get some cell phone video though. This is my buddy Paul landing one of his several football Yellow's for the trip. It was a great time. Captain TARO always gives 100% effort to find the fish. Paul landed this fish using a 200g Shimano Flat-Fall Butterfly jig.

September 10-12th, 2017 aboard the Ocean Odyssey. On day two we found the football Yellowfin, all you wanted (up to legal limits of course). Fun time catching fun fish. A special thank you goes out to Albert Bracamonte for putting this charter together. We know it's a lot of work, and we appreciate you. If you have any questions, leave them in the comments below and I'll do my best to answer them in a timely manner. Coltsniper Stick 120S PINK https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B4t... When fishing for Calico Bass I prefer to remove the treble hooks that come with the Shimano Coltsniper stick bait and replace them with VMC inline hooks. I may lose a few fish by doing this, but it makes releasing short bass very easy, and it's safer, at least for me. A shaking bass has an uncanny ability to put one of those trebles into your hand!

Got my hands on the new Shimano TRANX 400HG-A. After a morning of casting various size lures and jigs, here's my first impression of the reel.

I was contacted by another Tuber with a great idea for protecting the side plate on a kayak, or any other situation (like fishing off the rocks) where dropping the side plate would be bad, really bad. The link is below:

Just a heads up. Since you bring up something that some may have concerns with, especially kayakers. Here is a simple way to prevent the sideplate from falling falling off. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=psY9n...

My buddies nine year old son Stevie puts in work with the bass gear to land several football Yellowfin tuna aboard the Liberty. The bite was fickle this year, and the fish were pretty line shy. Bass rods and reels, and light line in the 15-20# range was the ticket to get consistently bit. This video was narrated by Stevie's dad. Father and son putting them on the deck.

My first narrated video. My wife says I sound like a robot. Whatever, doesn't compute. I worked my butt off for the two fish I landed. You have to keep at it, don't get frustrated. At the end of the day, it's just fishing.

P.S - GoPro battery life sucks.

A coworker set up a private charter aboard the MISSION BELLE out of Point Loma Sportfishing, San Diego, in search of some of the Yellowfin tuna that are moving through the area. The fish were FICKLE!! We could have thrown rocks at them and had a better chance of putting some on the deck. In the end we boated 7 nice YF in the 25-35 pound range. Fun times with great people. Thanks' fella's for an epic day on the water - TIGHT LINES!!

SHORT CLIP I don't normally post rock fishing content because... well it's kinda boring. The fish taste GREAT, but it's not much to watch. Don't get me wrong though, it's a relaxing day on the water, with great scenery and friends. Fun time taco fishing!

*I already know I'm going to catch hell for the size of that rockfish. The IGFA world record for a Starry Rockfish is 2 pounds 4 ounces. The biggest one I've ever seen was about a pound So although the fish is small, it's within the normal range. We were fishing at a depth of 300 feet, even with a release clip, the barotrauma would make mortality sketchy. I kept the fish, and ate it that night.*

Just a short clip of some Bonito shenanigans. We were hauling north back towards the Coronado Islands, and the Bonito were biting, but rather than stop, some elbow grease and sideline encouragement was all that was needed to bag'em. FUNx3!

Just a montage of video and photos of this year's epic fishing. Hope you all had a great season, and got on the water as much as possible. 2016 is right around the corner, hope to see you all out there!! Tight lines my friends!!
