I purchased Evonne as a project vehicle a year ago. In this video, I share the car's current condition and performance level.

My tuning was done by Drew (genius!) at Mid-Tennessee Diesel +1-615-601-1728, [email protected] .

A couple quick notes on performance:

1. Because I've done data logging, I know that the boost gauge understates boost by 3-4 psi.

2. Because 0-60 is accomplished in approximately 6.6 seconds, it corresponds to about 280 hp with a 4,000 lb curb weight. This would correspond with approximately 470 lb-ft of torque. So, my claims of 300 hp and 500 lb-ft are a bit high.

I hope this video gives a good fee for how Evonne looks and drives today. There's still more work to be done, but the performance is mostly where it's going to be.

Last winter I upgraded my workshop so that I'd have a section with a higher
roof. The higher roof was for THIS! I want to be able to pick up vehicles for
maintenance without running into overhead space limitations. This summer I
finally intalled the two-post lift, an Atlas 9KBP. In this video I show the
installation process and some hopeful tips and tricks I had to figure out
along the way. Most importantly: When installing these lifts, plan on getting
a hand, as this is not a one-man job! Subscribe to our Substack for FREE,

I show how I fit a Mishimoto J-line intercooler onto my e320 CDI and got it to
fit behind the bumper cover. Evonne the Turbodiesel now has an awesome
intercooler that will maximize air density at the intake manifold and keep
those EGTs nice and low. Subscribe to our Substack for FREE, where all of our

We cover a comparison between the ECS Tuning Kaunas hybrid and the stock turbo
from the OM648 engine in Evonne the Turbodiesel. The installation of a
combination boost / EGT gauge is also covered. ECS Tuning Kaunas (in
Lithuania) recently posted a great video showing the assembly, testing, and
adjustment of the same model of hybrid turbo. Stock turbocharge... Get your

I show Evonne's current condition. She's running strong and sounds like a
beast, now! I summarize the mechanical modifications that were made and I show
how the engine and transmission control units were tuned. I don't have
performance measurements, yet, as the car's electronics are still adapting and
I want to stop the intercooler from rubbing on the bumper cover. If you are
interested in buying a Stage 2 setup like Evonne has, or if you'd like to
pursue a Stage 3 setup at a great price, get in touch with "Mr. T" at ECU

Title: How I moved my W211 without a key, and a timelapse of my workshop
extension's construction! I had to move Evonne, my W211 turbodiesel, without
connecting the battery or putting the key into the ignition. I show you how I
did it. We also had an extension built onto The Art of Diesel's polebarn
workshop. This video contains a timelapse of its one-day construction process.
Concrete and overhead doors were still in the works. Subscribe to our

Evonne is the name of my 2005 E320 CDI with the amazing OM648 engine, the best
turbodiesel that Mercedes ever built. Before I go crazy with modifications I
need to take care of the basics! Checking on the exhaust and differential,
plus changing the oil, and replacing a stuck thermostat. Subscribe to our

In this 2018 vintage video I show how to remove the injector return lines on
an OM642 Mercedes turbo diesel. This is the 3.0 V6 used in many Mercedes
vehicles from 2007 onwards, including my R320 CDI. Check out and join our

I bought the 2005 E320 CDI that I was considering in Florida and drove it home
to Ohio. I talked the owner down from $5,500 to $4,500, as many interior
components will need to be replaced and some exterior work is needed. That
said, the vehicle is a good solid machine that is easily worth the cost and
will be well worth the efforts that I will put into it. Check out the video
and let me know if you think I got a good deal! Please join our Substack where
we will share more technical details! <https://artofdiesel.substack.com/>

I published a book eight years ago on my diesel modification of a Suburban.
Another gentleman owns it today and brought it by to show it off just over a
year ago. I thought it would be cool to let people know that the Suburban is
alive, well, and being put to good use! The book could use some updates, but
it is still available on Amazon: [https://www.amazon.com/Art-Diesel-

I share how I figured out how to disconnect front and rear driveshaft CV
joints on my 2007 R320 CDI. The job is tougher than it looks, because Mercedes
doesn't build in a capability to push them out from the back side and I had to
get creative! Check out and join our Substack for more detailed content!

I share the basic approach for replacing the timing chain on a Mercedes-Benz OM642 engine without taking more apart than you really need to. I also share tips on the tools used and what I'll do differently next time I do this.
