AUTO FANATICA - Car review on the Volkswagen Touran

This is Volkswagen's facelift of the Touran which otherwise has not changed too much since then, other than more electronic extras. It's still far behind luxury MPVs and even imports in terms of spec, but the basic components are very well designed and durable.

Being cheaper than alot of it's decent rivals is very helpful in the new market but in the used market they hold their value a little too well. This mainly because of the perceived quality. This is not misplaced as they are certainly better built than french offerings.

Car enthusiasts will not think much of the Touran but small families that think A-B will probably find it perfect for them. Flat-floor folding and removal seating add to the flexibility of the VW Touran.

It appears I am obsessed with the Mercedes Viano..... This was supposed to be a video on the Volkswagen T6 Caravelle.

Anyway. This time we take a look at the SWB T6 Caravelle. Although no match for the Viano W639 (in my opinion) it was still much better than other vans in it's class. It would make a great VIP shuttle or a family MPV. As usual I've gone over the interior in a lot of detail as I notice not many reviewers do this. I'm often frustrated about how little I can find out about the interior of vehicles through online car reviews.

The German van\mpvs still rule the roost for the moment but users are opting for Ford Transit custom is larger numbers due to price and spec. The T6 still feels better put together for the moment but pricing is still an issue.

Hopefully this video is useful to some. As always, any feedback on my videos is good. Friends and family have been very supportive since I started the channel and I hope to continue making new content every week for all of you.

AUTO FANATICA - Car review on the BMW Z3

A 2 seat convertible with a retro 90s vibe and good value in the used market. I didn't think much of them before driving this one. I did desperately want an E30 325i for my first car until I got the insurance quotes....... but other than that I have not really had much interest in the BMW range. This car changed all that.

I remember laughing when the Z3 was to become a Bond car and not in a good way. I'm not laughing now I've enjoyed a drive in one myself. I found it a quite enjoyable experience.

At a mere £2995 this is low budget for a cabriolet. Provided you have space to store something like this, anyone with around the UK average income bracket should be able to enjoy a weekend car!

This one has the 1.9 litre 4 cylinder petrol engine with a 5 speed manual transmission. This provides around 138bhp which was reasonable for the time but certainly not high performance.

I had great fun with this BMW convertible and look forward to checking out the BMW Z4 at some point.

Auto Fanatica | Honda Odyssey MK3 - IMPORT TO THE UK

The Honda Odyssey is well known across the world. But not in UK. Most UK drivers have no idea what it is. I get asked questions about it EVERYWHERE I go in it. What is it? Where can I get one?

This 7 seat MPV drives like a car but carries people and luggage like something much larger. It's really no surprise it was so popular elsewhere in the world. UK owners car only get them through Japanese import.

I still don't understand this, the Honda accord got a 2.0 Diesel in Europe. Why didn't we in the UK get an Odyssey with the same engine. I'm certain they would have sold well.

To my knowledge, there are only 3 Odyssey MK3s in Inverness, I own 2 of them and a friend of mine own the other one. It is actually thanks to him that I discovered the Odyssey.

I cannot recommend these enough to those looking for a practical 7 seat that is effortless to drive. Now I understand those that need semi-off-road capability or good towing capacity won't even consider this.

This review is on the Toyota Porte. A small unusual car with a massive electric sliding passenger door. This is a special edition model that has a set of alloys, full bodykit and unique badging. NOTE. This is a slightly shorter version based on feedback of the porte video.

AUTO FANATICA | VOLVO XC90 | REVIEW 2019

Like old stereo equipment, the XC90 is reassuringly heavy. Volvo have a reputation for cars being like a tank but in a good way. The question is, is it the best 7 seat?

As a 7 seat it is reasonably good but the lack of leg room for 3rd row passengers leaves something to be desired and the complexity of the seat mechanism is less than ideal. With the seats up there is some luggage space (more than most UK spec MPV\SUV models) but still less than is needed for a true practical family vehicle. I see far too many of these on UK roads with roof boxes which proves my point.

The turbo diesel D5 engine is capable for both fully loaded and pulling trailers despite it's small cylinder capacity. The cost to run seems to be about average for something like this, returning around the 30s in mpg.

Repair costs are high but it appears things don't break too often. Just be ready when they do.

Pros: Rugged, durable, good build quality, reasonable performance for class

Cons: Expensive repairs, poor styling, 3rd row cramped, lack of luggage capacity with 3rd row up

The MK2 Nissan Cube was a real surprise to me. I had not expected it to be as good as it is. Great on fuel, practical, drives well and has adequate power for it's size and weight.

This Cube is the 2005 1.5 VVT with a 4 speed CVT auto transmission. There is also a 1.4 VVT model but I have not looked at it yet.

In this video I take a look at the Audi A6 Avant 3.0 Bi Turbo Quattro. An incredible car that I could find very little fault with. Top Car Inverness motor dealer was happy to let me film a review of this impressive piece of German automotive engineering. Here's a link to their website.

AUTO FANATICA - Car review on the Volkswagen Amarok

This is VW's first attempt at a modern pickup to fight with the Mitsubishi warrior, Nissan Navara \ mercedes X class, Toyota Hilux and Ford Ranger. VW have made a pretty good job here and if you are familiar with VW products, you will feel at home too as it shares many interior components with other models from the VW range.

Does it stack up well against other UK Pickups? The Amarok is not the worst pickup truck out there. The Ford Ranger still appears to be the clear UK winner. The worst thing I found was the noisy cabin but other than that I found it just fine.

In this video I take a look at the Nissan Elgrand E51 from a U.K customer's perspective. The U.K imports many of these every year from Japan but I didn't find many videos talking about import cars the way I wanted to see them.

This is an re-upload of my very first video with some improvements in Audio and Video quality plus a few touches.

We are back in Kingussie to finally review the Cube and Porte that were brought in recently.

I also got a look at some of the cars I'm hoping to look at soon including a Legacy E tune and an Elgrand E51 XL.

This is part of my new ON THE ROAD series covering travel to collect cars and interesting events or other things that don't really count as a review. I had a plan to do another series (CAR TALK) too where I discuss things in an open format, possibly with guests. My first VLOG on the 4th week of April. Alot of new things coming up we take a look at;

My new Odyssey just in
Toyota Porte fresh import

I also talk about the upcoming review of a Nissan Cube that's been in the UK for a few months.

Cars are courtesy of DR KURUMA, our local import dealer. Check out his facebook page;

Keep an eye out for more videos coming soon!

I didn't have any exiting imports to cover this week so I decided to look at our spare car for the taxi company. It has served us very well needing only standard maintenance and a couple of suspension springs.

Check out some of our other videos on the Elgrands and there will be upcoming videos on cars fresh in from Japan shortly.

After looking over the Elgrand E51 I thought it would be a good idea to take a look at my own Elgrand E50. This is more of a comparison video than a stand alone. Japanese imports offer great value in the UK market and with the post diesel revolution under way, petrol cars and becoming popular again.

This is by far the worst van I've ever owned. Bad design, poor build quality and horrific road noise. I wouldn't buy another one.

I've loved cars all my life and they've been a hobby of mine since I can remember. Because of this I guess it's no surprise I want to talk about cars and make videos about them. As a result I started making car review videos.

I intend to make content around reviews, mods and upgrades I do, fan cars, events and some of my own, constantly changing collection. Another form of content I am fascinated with is how these vehicles came to be; their history, designers and what else was going on in society and worldwide during this era.

What we drive is not only utility. It is also a work of art, a reflection of the time in which it was designed and says something about who the owner is. Vehicle ownership tells a story that's often interesting and compelling to tell.

I feel I can help tell some of these stories to others.
