Psalm 95:5: “All the gods of the heathens are devils...”

1 Chronicles 16:26: “For all the gods of the nations are idols: but the Lord made the heavens.”

1 Corinthians 10:20: “But the things which the heathens sacrifice, they sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God. And I would not that you should be made partakers with devils.”

Pope Gregory XVI, Summo Iugiter Studio, (quoting Pope St. Gregory the Great), May 27, 1832: “‘The holy universal Church teaches that it is not possible to worship God truly except in her and asserts that all who are outside of her will not be saved.’ Official acts of the Church proclaim the same dogma.”

Pope Gregory XVI, Summo Iugiter Studio, #2, May 27, 1832: “Finally some of these misguided people attempt to persuade themselves and others that men are not saved only in the Catholic religion, but that even heretics may attain eternal life.”

Pope Paul III, Bull Sublimis Deus, May 29, 1537: "... man, according to the testimony of the sacred scriptures, has been created to enjoy eternal life and happiness, which none may obtain save through faith in our Lord Jesus Christ... 'Go ye and teach all nations.' He said all, without exception, for all are capable of receiving the doctrines of the faith... By virtue of Our apostolic authority We define and declare by these present letters... that the said Indians and other peoples should be converted to the faith of Jesus Christ by preaching the word of God and by the example of good and holy living."

St. Polycarp, A.D. 135, Letter to the Philippians: "Everyone who does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is an Antichrist; whoever does not confess the testimony of the cross, is of the Devil; and whoever perverts the saying of the Lord for his own desires, and says that there is neither resurrection nor judgment, such a one is the first-born of Satan.”

Pope Paul III, Council of Trent, Sess. 6, Chap. 3 on Justification: "So unless they were born again in Christ they would never be justified...”

Pope Paul III, Council of Trent, Sess. 5, on Original Sin: "… our Catholic faith, ‘without which it is impossible to please God’ [Heb. 11:6]...”

Pope Pius IX, Vatican Council I, Session 2, Profession of Faith, 1870, ex cathedra: "This true Catholic faith, outside of which none can be saved, which I now freely profess and truly hold."

Pope Innocent III, Fourth Lateran Council, Constitution 1, 1215, ex cathedra: "There is indeed one universal Church of the faithful, outside of which nobody at all is saved...”

Pope Eugene IV, Council of Florence, “Athanasian Creed”, 1439: “But it is also necessary for eternal salvation that he faithfully believe in the incarnation of our Lord Jesus Christ...”

Pope Pius VIII, Traditi humilitati #4, May 24, 1829: “Against these experienced sophists the people must be taught that the profession of the Catholic faith is uniquely true, as the apostle proclaims: one Lord, one faith, one baptism... Indeed, no other name than the name of Jesus is given to men, by which they may be saved. He who believes shall be saved; he who does not believe shall be condemned.”

Pope Gregory XVI, Mirari Vos, #13, Aug. 15, 1832: "With the admonition of the apostle, that 'there is one God, one faith, one baptism' (Eph. 4:5), may those fear who contrive the notion that the safe harbor of salvation is open to persons of any religion whatever. They should consider the testimony of Christ Himself that 'those who are not with Christ are against Him,' (Lk. 11:23) and that they disperse unhappily who do not gather with Him. Therefore, 'without a doubt, they will perish forever, unless they hold the Catholic faith whole and inviolate (Athanasian Creed)."

Pope Eugene IV, Council of Florence, "Cantate Domino," 1441, ex cathedra: "The Holy Roman Church firmly believes, professes and preaches that all those who are outside the Catholic Church, not only pagans but also Jews or heretics and schismatics, cannot share in eternal life and will go into the everlasting fire which was prepared for the devil and his angels, unless they are joined to the Church before the end of their lives...and that nobody can be saved, no matter how much he has given away in alms and even if he has shed blood in the name of Christ, unless he has persevered in the bosom and unity of the Catholic Church."

St. John Eudes, Man's Contract With God In Baptism, 17th century: "... that you may have a true faith in those things which God has revealed, it is necessary that you should believe in the Catholic Church, in which alone you can learn with certainty what God has revealed... Certainly those who do not believe in the Catholic Church cannot have divine faith in the mysteries which they believe, but only natural and human faith... 'Without faith it is impossible to please God.'... When, therefore, you observe that those who believe not in the Church, practice some good works, offer many prayers, and lead an austere life, do not believe that they are on this account on the way of salvation, unless they have the true faith; you commit an enormous sin if you believe that they can be saved outside of the Church; that they can have faith without believing in her, or that they can be saved without the faith."

Pope Eugene IV, Council of Florence, Cantate Domino, ex cathedra, 1441: "The Holy Roman Church firmly believes, professes and preaches that all those who are outside the Catholic Church, not only pagans but also Jews or heretics and schismatics, cannot share in eternal life and will go into the everlasting fire which was prepared for the devil and his angels, unless they are joined to the Church before the end of their lives... and that nobody can be saved, no matter how much he has given away in alms and even if he has shed blood in the name of Christ, unless he has persevered in the bosom and unity of the Catholic Church."

Pope Pius VIII, Traditi humilitati, #4, May 24, 1829: "Against these experienced sophists the people must be taught that the profession of the Catholic faith is uniquely true, as the apostle proclaims: one Lord, one faith, one baptism. Jerome used to say it this way: he who eats the Lamb outside this house will perish as did those during the flood who were not with Noah in the ark. Indeed, no other name than the name of Jesus is given to men, by which they may be saved. He who believes shall be saved; he who does not believe shall be condemned."

St. John Eudes, Man's Contract With God In Baptism, 17th century: "What were you before Baptism but the unhappy slave of Satan, and subject like him to eternal punishment? But by Baptism you have been delivered from this unhappy subjection... which procures for yo uthe enjoyment of eternal happiness, if you observe all its conditions. Yes, dear reader, before your Batism you were a member of Satan, and now you are a member of Jesus Christ; you were the child of the Devil, and now you are the child of God.

When you had been presented to the Church to receive Baptism, you were treated as a person in the possession of the Devil, for the priest pronounced over you the exorcism of the Church, commanding the wicked spirit to depart from you, and to give place to the Holy Ghost.

... Baptism imprints on your soul a spiritual character... This character is a proof that from this time you do not belong to yourself, but that you are the property of Jesus Christ, who has purchased you by the infinite price of His blood and of His death.

... Baptism enables you to enter the society of Jesus Christ, and of all the faithful who compose the house or family of God... By this ceremony you are likewise taught that, in order to be united to Jesus Christ, and to have eternall life, it is necessary to be a member of the Church, and to persevere therein to the end, believing all that she teaches, obeying all that she commands."

John 10:14: "I am the good shepherd. I know mine and mine know me..."

John 10:16: "And I have other sheep which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one flock, one shepherd."

John 10:27: "My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me."

St. Robert Bellermine, De Gratia el Libero Arbitrio, Book 2, Chap. 8: "They take a third argument from Romans chapter 10. How will they invoke Him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe without a preacher? How will they preach unless they are sent? The beginning of salvation is faith; for from it arises invocation, and from invocation salvation. For whoever shall invoke the name of the Lord will be saved. But many do not have sufficient help by which they can believe, since the Gospel has not yet been preached to them; and many more never once had this help, since the preaching of the Gospel had not yet reached them.

I respond: This argument only proves that the help by which men can immediately be converted and believe is not available to all. Nevertheless, it does not absolutely prove that sufficient help to salvation has been lacking to anyone. For the gentiles to whom the Gospel has not yet been preached are able to know through creatures that God exists. From that they are enabled by God, through prevenient grace, to be moved to believe concerning God that He exists, and that He rewards those who seek Him. From such faith they can be moved, with God directing and aiding them, to pray and to give alms, and in that way to obtain from God the greater light of faith, which God either through Himself, or through angels, or through men, will easily communicate to them.

This is how St. Thomas responds (in question 14 De Veritate, A. 11, Ad 1). He cites the example of Cornelius, who, from faith in one God, was praying and giving alms, and in that way he won the grace of hearing the faith of Christ through angelic admonition and apostolic preaching, and even of receiving sacred baptism itself.

... for those to whom the Lord was speaking already knew and believed that there was one God, but they did not believe Jesus to be the Son of God, the true Messiah promised in the Law. Wherefore they were able, from faith in one God, to pray for and obtain the faith by which they could believe that Jesus was the Son of God and the Christ."

Romans 6:4: "We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life."

Galatians 3:27: "For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ."

1 Peter 3:20-21: "... in the days of Noe while the ark was being constructed, into which a few, that is, eight souls, came safely through water, the antitype of which - that is, baptism - now saves us too..."

St. Augustine, Against Julian, Book 5, Chap. 4: "... never be it said that a man predestined to life would be permitted to end his life without the sacrament of the Mediator [Baptism]. Because of these men, our Lord says: 'This is the will of him who sent me, the Father, that I should lose nothing of what He has given me.'"

St. Robert Bellarmine, The Eternal Happiness of the Saints, pp. 129-130: "But the heretics of our own time have endeavored to enter by another way, for they have taken away those narrow barriers which relate not so much to the understanding as to action. The Christian faith teaches that all sins are to be avoided, that we shall have to give an account of even every idle word, that the Kingdom of Heaven can be acquired by good works as a crown of justice and a reward of labor, that celibacy is to be observed by priests... These and other points which make the gate narrow, the heretics have so taken away as to make it very wide, for they assert that faith alone is necessary for salvation, so that a Christian could not perish though covered with every sin provided only he believed... These and other doctrines of faith being taken away, the heretics made the gate of salvation very wide for themselves, but they opened a way that leads to destruction, and through it they brought to perdition together with themselves, an immense multitude of foolish men."

St. Robert Bellarmine, The Eternal Happiness of the Saints, pp. 100-101: "St. Theresa of Avilon mentions in her life having seen in purgatory the souls of many persons of remarkable virtue. Some in a secular others in a religious state, of her own nunnery and of several other orders, and she says 'but amongst all the souls I've seen I've not known anyone to have escaped purgatory except three: Fr. Peter of Alcantara, Fr. Peter Evagnes, a religious man of the order of St. Dominic, and a Carmalite friar.' "

St. Robert Bellarmine, The Eternal Happiness of the Saints, p. 50: "Affliction is everywhere to be found, everywhere to be met with at home, on a journey, in the forum... for in all places the wicked oppress the good."

St. Robert Bellarmine, The Eternal Happiness of the Saints, p. 128: "The Christian faith proposes many things to be believed which are so beyond all understanding that it is most difficult to give our consent to them, and yet we are commanded to believe them so firmly that we should be prepared, if necessary, to die a thousand times rather than deny one article of faith."

St. Robert Bellarmine, The Eternal Happiness of the Saints, p. 133: "But Christian hope teaches us that everyone provided he be baptized in Christ, and observe His commandments, will have the spirit of adoption from God."

St. Robert Bellarmine, The Eternal Happiness of the Saints, p. 75: "For all those enter from the four quarters of the glode, who being baptized in the name of the Three Divine Persons, have persevered in the end in faith, hope, and charity."

St. Robert Bellarmine, The Eternal Happiness of the Saints, p. 234: "[the Church is] Nothing more than an assembly of the faithful."

St. Robert Bellarmine, The Eternal Happiness of the Saints, p. 93: "Thus, St. Augustine clearly proves that Christians are true Israelites. Not according to the flesh but according to the spirit, and that thereby they are heirs of the land of promise which is in Heaven. Wherefore the gates of the heavenly Jerusalem have inscribed on them the names of the 12 tribes of Israel, because the gate by which we enter the land of promise is the inheritance of the sons of God, who alone are true and sincere Christians, the children of the blessed Apostles."

Galatians 6:16: "And whosoever shall follow this rule, peace on them, and mercy, and upon the Israel of God."

St. Robert Bellarmine, The Eternal Happiness of the Saints, p. 145: "The gate which on one side appears most narrow, on account of the perfection of virtue required, on the other is very wide and easy to enter, by reason of the omnipotence, truth, and mercy of God, if we be truly desirous of entering it."

St. Robert Bellarmine, The Eternal Happiness of the Saints, p. 164: "[Judgment day] We shall also see with feelings of pleasure, the crimes and torments of the damned in which the sanctity of the good and the justice of God will wonderfully shine forth, for then the just will wash their hands in the blood of the wicked, as the prophet says."

Pope Boniface VIII, Unam Sanctam, Nov. 18, 1302, ex cathedra: “With Faith urging us we are forced to believe and to hold the one, holy, Catholic Church and that, apostolic, and we firmly believe and simply confess this Church outside of which there is no salvation nor remission of sin… Furthermore, we declare, say, define, and proclaim to every human creature that they by absolute necessity for salvation are entirely subject to the Roman Pontiff.”

Pope Julius III, Council of Trent, On the Sacraments of Baptism and Penance, Sess. 14, Chap. 2, ex cathedra: “But in fact this sacrament [Penance] is seen to differ in many respects from baptism. For, apart from the fact that the matter and form, by which the essence of a sacrament is constituted, are totally distinct, there is certainly no doubt that the minister of baptism need not be a judge, since the Church exercises judgment on no one who has not previously entered it by the gate of baptism. For what have I to do with those who are without (1 Cor. 5:12), says the Apostle. It is otherwise with those of the household of the faith, whom Christ the Lord by the laver of baptism has once made ‘members of his own body’ (1 Cor. 12:13).”

Pope Eugene IV, Council of Florence, Sess. 8, Nov. 22, 1439: "Holy baptism, which is the gateway to the spiritual life, holds the first place among all the sacraments; through it we are made members of Christ and of the body of the Church. And since death entered the universe through the first man, 'unless we are born again of water and the Spirit, we cannot,' as the Truth says, 'enter into the kingdom of heaven' [John 3:5]. The matter of this sacrament is real and natural water. The form is: I baptize you in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy Spirit."

Pope Pius XII, Mystici Corporis Christi, #22, June 29, 1943: "Actually only those are to be included as members of the Church who have received the laver of regeneration and profess the true faith..."

Fr. Joachim Salaverri and Fr. Michaele Nicolau, On The Church Of Christ, On Holy Scripture, Imprimatur 1955, p. 419: “Baptism is not necessary for catechumens in order to be catechumens, conceded; in order for them to be subjects and members of the Church, denied.”

Fr. Joachim Salaverri and Fr. Michaele Nicolau, On The Church Of Christ, On Holy Scripture, Imprimatur 1955, p. 412: “That all and only the baptized are members of the Church is implicitly defined in the Council of Trent.”

Amleto Giovanni Cicognani, Canon Law, Imprimatur 1934, pp. 562-563: “ By divine law, the unbaptized are not subject to ecclesiastical laws… Catechumens are not held to the laws of the Church, for the simple reason that they have not yet received the sacrament of baptism and therefore have no juridic personality in the Church.”

Dr. Ludwig Ott, Fundamentals of Catholic Dogma, Membership in the Church, p. 309: “3. Among the members of the Church are not to be counted: a) The unbaptized… Catechumens are not to be counted among the members of the Church… The Church claims no jurisdiction over them (D 895).  The Fathers draw a sharp line of separation between Catechumens and ‘the faithful.’”

St. Robert Bellarmine, De Justificatione, Book I, Chap. 9 “… catechumens believe that the Church is holy, and nevertheless they know themselves to not yet be part of it…”

Latin: “Catechumeni enim credunt Ecclesiam sanctam, et tamen sciunt, se nondum partem ejus esse…”

St. Robert Bellarmine, De Ecclesia Militante, Chap. III, On the Unbaptized: “… it is certain that catechumens are not in the Church in actuality and properly… Catechumens do not have the right to any of the sacraments, nor to the other things which are common to the universal Church.”

“… certum est, catechumenos non esse in Ecclesia actu et proprie… catechumeni non habent jus ad ulla sacramenta, neque ad alia, quae sunt communia universae Ecclesiae.”

Msgr. Van Noort, Dogmatic Theology, Vol. 2, Christ’s Church, Imprimatur 1956, pp. 240-241: “Those who have not received baptism of water are not members of the Church… the Church does not have power of ‘government’ over catechumens…”

Pope Paul III, Council of Trent, Sess. 7, Can. 5 on the Sacrament of Baptism, March 3, 1547: "If anyone should say that baptism is optional, that is, not necessary for salvation: let him be anathema."

Pope Eugene IV, Council of Florence, Cantate Domino, 1441: "... that the unity of this ecclesiastical body is of such importance that only for those who abide in it do the Church's sacraments contribute to salvation and do fasts, almsgiving and other works of piety and practices of the Christian militia produce eternal rewards; and that nobody can be saved, no matter how much he has given away in alms and even if he has shed blood in the name of Christ, unless he has persevered in the bosom and unity of the Catholic Church."

Pope Clement V, The Council of Vienne, 1311-1312: "Moreover, one baptism regenerating all baptized in Christ - just as 'one God and one faith' [Eph. 4:5], is to be faithfully confessed by all, which, celebrated in water in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, we believe to be the perfect remedy for salvation for both adults and children."

Pope Clement V, The Council of Vienne, 1311-1312: "... one is the universal Church... outside of which absolutely no one is saved, one is the Lord, one is the Faith and one is the baptism of all."

Pope St. Leo the Great, Council of Chalcedon, 451: “In other words, the Spirit of Sanctification and the Blood of Redemption and the water of Baptism. These three are one and remain indivisible. None of them is separable from its link with the others.”

Pope Eugene IV, The Council of Florence, Exultate Deo, Nov. 22, 1439: "And since death entered the universe through the first man, 'unless we are born again of water and the Spirit, we cannot,' as the Truth says, 'enter into the kingdom of heaven' [John 3:5]. The matter of this sacrament is real and natural water."

St. Alphonsus, Sermons of St. Alphonsus Liguori, p. 219, c. 1760: “See also the special love which God has shown you in bringing you into life in a Christian country, and in the bosom of the Catholic or true Church. How many are born among the pagans, among the Jews, among the Mohammedans and heretics, and all are lost.”

St. Alphonsus, Moral Theology, Volume V, Book 6, n. 96: : ”Baptism of blowing supplies the place of the true river of baptism “with respect to the remission of the guilt, but not with respect to the character to be imprinted, nor with respect to the full liability of the punishment to be removed: it is called of blowing because it is made through the impulse of the Holy Spirit, who is called a blowing.”

St. Thomas Aquinas, Summa Theologiae, Pt. III, Q. 68, A. 2, Reply to Obj. 2: “If therefore a catechumen has the desire for baptism..., then such a one departing [or dying] does not immediately attain eternal life but will suffer punishment for past sins. Nevertheless he himself will be saved in this way as though through fire, as stated in 1 Cor. III.” (“non statim pervenit ad vitam aeternam”) - (“pro peccatis praeteritis”)

Titus 3:5: “He saved us… through the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Ghost.”

Pope Eugene IV, Council of Florence, Exultate Deo, Nov. 22, 1439: "Holy baptism... The effect of this sacrament is the remission of every fault, original and actual, and also of every punishment which is owed for the fault itself. Therefore to the baptized no satisfaction is to be enjoined for past sins; but dying, before they commit any fault, they immediately attain the kingdom of heaven and the Vision of God." (“statim ad regnum caelorum et Dei visionem perveniunt.”) - (“pro peccatis praeteritis”)

Council of Trent, Decree on Justification, Sess. 6, Chap. 3: “... SO UNLESS THEY WERE BORN AGAIN IN CHRIST, THEY WOULD NEVER BE JUSTIFIED, since by that new birth through the merit of His passion the grace by which they become just is bestowed upon them."

Pope St. Siricius, Decree to Himerius, A.D. 385: “Therefore just as we say that the holy paschal observance is in no way to be diminished, we also say that to infants who will not yet be able to speak on account of their age or to those who in any necessity will need the holy stream of baptism, we wish succor to be brought with all celerity, lest it should tend to the perdition of our souls if the saving font be denied to those desiring it and every single one of them exiting this world lose both the Kingdom and life.

Whoever should fall into the peril of shipwreck, the incursion of an enemy, the uncertainty of a siege or the desperation of any bodily sickness, and should beg to be relieved by the unique help of faith, let them obtain the rewards of the much sought-after regeneration in the same moment of time in which they beg for it. Let the previous error in this matter be enough; [but] now let all priests maintain the aforesaid rule, who do not want to be torn from the solidity of the apostolic rock upon which Christ constructed His universal Church.”

Ephesians 2:8: "For by grace you have been saved through the faith..."

Pope Eugene IV, Council of Florence, Exultate Deo, Sess. 8, Nov. 22 1439: "All these sacraments are made up of three elements: namely, things as the matter, words as the form, and the person of the minister who confers the sacrament with the intention of doing what the Church does. If any of these is lacking, the sacrament is not effected."

Pope Eugene IV, Council of Florence, Exultate Deo, Sess. The matter of this sacrament is real and natural water."

Pope Paul III, The Council of Trent, Can. 2 on the Sacrament of Baptism, Sess. 7, 1547: "If anyone should say that real and natural water is not necessary for baptism, and on that account should distort those words of Our Lord Jesus Christ: 'Unless a man be born again of water and the Holy Spirit' [John 3:5], into some metaphor: let him be anathema."

Pope Paul III, The Council of Trent, Can. 5 on the Sacrament of Baptism, Sess. 7, 1547: "If anyone should say that baptism is optional, that is, not necessary for salvation: let him be anathema."

Pope Paul III, Council of Trent, Chap. 7 on Justification, Session 6, 1547: "... the instrumental cause [of Justification] is the Sacrament of Baptism, which is the 'Sacrament of Faith,' without faith no one is ever justified... This Faith, in accordance with Apostolic Tradition, catechumens beg of the Church before the Sacrament of Baptism, when they ask for 'faith which bestows life eternal,' (Rit. Rom., Ordo Baptismi)."

Pope Pius XII, Mystici Corporis Christi, #22, June 29, 1943: “Actually only those are to be included as members of the Church who have received the laver of regeneration [baptism] and profess the true faith…”

St. Gregory Nazianzen, #22, Oration on Holy Baptism, Jan 6, 381: “But then you say ‘is God not merciful since He knows our thoughts and searches out our desires? Will He not take the desire of baptism instead of baptism?’. You are speaking in riddles if what you mean is that because of God's mercy the unenlightened is enlightened in His sight, and he is within the kingdom of heaven who merely desires to attain it.”

St. Gregory Nazianzen, #23, Oration on Holy Baptism, Jan 6, 381: “... If you were able to judge a man who intends to commit murder, solely by his intention and without any act of murder, then you could likewise reckon as baptized one who desired Baptism, without having received Baptism. But, since you cannot do the former, how can you do the latter? I cannot see it. If you prefer, we will put it like this: if in your opinion desire has equal power with actual Baptism, then make the same judgment in regard to glory. You will then be satisfied to long for glory, as if that longing itself were glory. Do you suffer any damage by not attaining the actual glory, as long as you have a desire for it?”

St. Gregory Nazianzen: “Others are not in a position to receive it, perhaps on account of infancy or some perfectly involuntary circumstance through which they are prevented from receiving it, even if they wish. [They will not be glorified.]"

Nicene Creed: “We believe (I believe) in one God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, and of all things visible and invisible. And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God, and born of the Father before all ages. (God of God) light of light, true God of true God. Begotten not made, consubstantial to the Father, by whom all things were made. Who for us men and for our salvation came down from heaven. And was incarnate of the Holy Ghost and of the Virgin Mary and was made man; was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate, suffered and was buried; and the third day rose again according to the Scriptures. And ascended into heaven, sits at the right hand of the Father, and shall come again with glory to judge the living and the dead, of whose Kingdom there shall be no end. And (I believe) in the Holy Ghost, the Lord and Giver of life, who proceeds from the Father (and the Son), who together with the Father and the Son is to be adored and glorified, who spoke by the Prophets. And one holy, catholic, and apostolic Church. We confess (I confess) one baptism for the remission of sins. And we look for (I look for) the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen.”

Pope Clement V, The Council of Vienne, 13 January, 1311-1312: “All are faithfully to profess that there is one baptism which regenerates all those baptized in Christ, just as there is one God and one faith’. We believe that when baptism is administered in water in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy Spirit, it is a perfect means of salvation for both adults and children. “

Roman Breviary, May 9th, concerning St. Gregory Nazianzen: “In the opinion of learned and holy men, there is nothing to be found in his writings which is not conformable to true piety and Catholic faith or which anyone could reasonably call into question.”

Pope Boniface VIII, Unam Sanctam, Nov. 18, 1302, ex cathedra: "With Faith urging us we are forced to believe and to hold the one, holy, Catholic Church and that, apostolic, and we firmly believe and simply confess this Church outside of which there is no salvation nor remission of sin…"

St. Gregory Nazianzen: “What have you to say about those who are still children and conscious neither of the loss nor of the grace? Are we to baptize them too? Certainly, if any danger presses, for it is better that they be unconsciously sanctified than that they should depart unsealed and uninitiated.”

Romans 6:4-5: “For we are buried together with him by baptism into death; that as Christ is risen from the dead by the glory of the Father, so we also may walk in newness of life. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection.“

Act 8:36-38: “And as they went on their way, they came to a certain water; and the eunuch said: See, here is water: what doth hinder me from being baptized? And Philip said: If thou believest with all thy heart, thou mayest. And he answering, said: I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. And he commanded the chariot to stand still; and they went down into the water, both Philip and the eunuch: and he baptized him.”

James 2:21: “Was not our father Abraham justified by works when he offered up Isaac on the altar?”

James 2:24: “You see that a person is justified by works and not by faith alone.”

Genesis 22:10-12: “Then Abraham reached out his hand and took the knife to slaughter his son [Isaac]. But the angel of the LORD called him from heaven and said, ‘Abraham, Abraham!’ And he said, ‘Here I am.’ He said. ‘Do not lay your hand on the boy or do anything to him, for now I know that you fear God, seeing you have not withheld your son, your only son, from me.’”

Genesis 22:1: “After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, ‘Abraham!’ And he said, ‘Here I am.’”

Genesis 22:!6-17: “By myself I have sworn, declares the Lord, because you have done this and have not withheld your son, your only son, I will surely bless you, and I will surely multiply your offspring as the stars of heaven and as the sand that is on the seashore. And your offspring shall possess the gate of his enemies.”

James 2:21-24: “Was not our father Abraham justified by works when he offered up Isaac on the altar? [Genesis chapter 22] You see that faith was active along with his works, and faith was completed by his works; and the Scripture was fulfilled that says, ‘Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness’ [Genesis 15:6] – and he was called a friend of God. You see that a person is justified by works and not by faith alone.”

Matthew 19:16-17: "And behold, a man came up to him, saying, 'Teacher, what good deed must I do to have eternal life?' And he said to him, 'Why do you ask me about what is good? There is only one who is good, God. If you would enter life, keep the commandments.'"

Mark 10:17-22: “ And when he was gone forth into the way, a certain man running up and kneeling before him, asked him, Good Master, what shall I do that I may receive life everlasting? And Jesus said to him, Why callest thou me good? None is good but one, that is God. Thou knowest the commandments: Do not commit adultery, do not kill, do not steal, bear not false witness, do no fraud, honour thy father and mother. But he answering, said to him: Master, all these things I have observed from my youth. And Jesus looking on him, loved him, and said to him: One thing is wanting unto thee: go, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me. Who being struck sad at that saying, went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions.”

[18] "None is good": Of himself entirely and essentially, but God alone; men may be good also, but only by participation of God's goodness.

Luke 18:18-22: “And a certain ruler asked him, saying: Good master, what shall I do to possess everlasting life? And Jesus said to him: Why dost thou call me good? None is good but God alone. Thou knowest the commandments: Thou shalt not kill: Thou shalt not commit adultery: Thou shalt not steal: Thou shalt not bear false witness: Honour thy father and mother. Who said: All these things have I kept from my youth. Which when Jesus had heard, he said to him: Yet one thing is wanting to thee: sell all whatever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me.”

Romans 2:6-8: "He will render to each one according to his works: to those who with endurance in well-doing seek for glory and honor and immortality, he will give eternal life; but for those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, there will be wrath and fury."

Romans 2:13: “For it is not the hearers of the law who are righteous before God, but the doers of the law who will be justified.”

Romans 6:16: “Do you not know that if you present yourselves to anyone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin, which leads to death, or of obedience, which leads to justification?”

Romans 8:12-13: “So then, brothers, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. For if you live according to the flesh you are going to die, but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the flesh, you will live.”

Romans 8:16-17: “The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs- heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him.” (“if indeed” = “if perhaps”, “provided that” – It’s conditional.)

Galatians 5:19-21: “Now the works of the flesh are evident: fornication, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, wraths, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.”

Galatians 3:26-27: “For in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God through the faith. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ.”

Romans 8:12-13: “So then, brothers, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. For if you live according to the flesh you will die, but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.”

Ephesians 5:5-11: “For you may be sure of this, that everyone who is a fornicator or impure, or who is covetous (that is, an idolater), has no inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God. Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience. Therefore do not become partakers with them; for at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light (for the fruit of light is found in all that is good and right and true), and try to discern what is pleasing to the Lord. Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them.”

1 Corinthians 6:9-11: “Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, no adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.”

1 Corinthians 10:7-8 “Do not be idolaters as some of them were; as it is written, ‘The people sat down to eat and drink and rose up to play.’ We must not commit fornication as some of them did...”

2 Peter 2:20-22: “For if, after they have escaped the defilements of the world through the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and overcome, the last state has become worse for them than the first. For it would have been better for them never to have known the way of righteousness than after knowing it to turn back from the holy commandment delivered to them. What the true proverb says has happened to them: ‘The dog returns to its own vomit, and pig, that was washed, returns to wallow in the mud.’”

2 Peter 1:3-4: ‘His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence, by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of concupiscence.”

Nice ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Pope Eugene IV, Council of Florence, Sess. 11, Feb. 4, 1442, ex cathedra: "The Holy Roman Church firmly believes, professes and preaches that all those who are outside the Catholic Church, not only pagans but also Jews or heretics and schismatics, cannot share in eternal life and will go into the everlasting fire which was prepared for the devil and his angels, unless they are joined to the Church before the end of their lives... and that nobody can be saved, no matter how much he has given away in alms and even if he has shed blood in the name of Christ, unless he has persevered in the bosom and unity of the Catholic Church."

Pope Paul III, The Council of Trent, On Original Sin, Session 5: "By one man sin entered into the world, and by sin death... so that in them there may be washed away by regeneration, what they have contracted by generation, 'For unless a man be born again of water and the Holy Ghost, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God' [John 3:5]."

Pope Gregory XVI, Mirari Vos, #13, Aug. 15, 1832: "With the admonition of the apostle that 'there is one God, one faith, one baptism' (Eph. 4:5) may those fear who contrive the notion that the safe harbor of salvation is open to persons of any religion whatever.

Pope Paul III, Sublimis Deus, May 29, 1537: "...man, according to the testimony of the sacred scriptures, has been created to enjoy eternal life and happiness, which none may obtain save through faith in our Lord Jesus Christ...

Ephesians 1:4-13: "... even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world... In love he predestined us for adoption to himself as sons through Jesus Christ... In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace... In him we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of him who works in all things according to the counsel of his will... In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him..."

Acts 4:12: "Neither is there salvation in any other. For there is no other name under heaven given to men, whereby we must be saved."

Pope Eugene IV, The Council of Florence, Nov. 22, 1439: “Holy baptism, which is the gateway to the spiritual life, holds the first place among all the sacraments; through it we are made members of Christ and of the body of the Church. And since death entered the universe through the first man, ‘unless we are born again of water and the Spirit, we cannot,’ as the Truth says, ‘enter into the kingdom of heaven’ [John 3:5]. The matter of this sacrament is real and natural water.”

Pope Gregory II, 731: "You ask for advice on the lawfulness of making offerings for the dead. The teaching of the Church is this - that every man should make offerings for those who died as true Christians [Catholics]... But he is not allowed to do so for those who die in a state of sin even if they were Christians."

Pope St. Gregory the Great, Morals on Job, Book 34: "They [the saints] pray for their enemies at that time when they are able to convert their hearts to fruitful penitence...And this is now the reason for holy men not praying for unbelieving and ungodly men who are dead; for they [i.e. holy men] are unwilling that the merit of their prayer should be set aside, in that presence of the righteous Judge, in behalf of those whom they know to be already consigned to eternal punishment."

MHFM: "This video also contains an important discussion of objections that are raised on this point."

Bible quotes are from the Douay-Rheims.

Genesis 38:8-10: "Juda, therefore said to Onan his son: Go in to thy brother's wife and marry her [Thamar], that thou mayst raise seed to thy brother. He knowing that the children should not be his, when he went in to his brother's wife, spilled his seed upon the ground, lest children should be born in his brother's name. And therefore the Lord slew him, because he did a detestable thing."

Deuteronomy 25:5: "When brethren dwell together, and one of them dieth without children, the wife of the deceased shall not marry to another: but his brother shall take her, and raise up seed for his brother."

Deuteronomy 25:7-10: "But if he will not take his brother's wife, who by law belongeth to him, the woman shall go to the gate of the city, and call upon the ancients, and say: My husband's brother refuseth to raise up his brother's name in Israel: and will not take me to wife. And they shall cause him to be sent for forthwith, and shall ask him. If he answer: I will not take her to wife: The woman shall come to him before the ancients, and shall take off his shoe from his foot, and spit in his face, and say: So shall it be done to the man that will not build up his brother's house: And his name shall be called in Israel, the house of the unshod. "

Genesis 2:24: "Wherefore a man shall leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they shall be two in one flesh."

Pope Pius XI. Casti Connubii, On Christian Marriage, #54-56, Dec. 31, 1930: "But no reason, however grave, may be put forward by which anything intrinsically against nature may become conformable to nature and morally good. Since, therefore, the conjugal act is destined primarily by nature for the begetting of children, those who in exercising it deliberately frustrate its natural power and purpose sin against nature and commit a deed which is shameful and intrinsically vicious.

Small wonder, therefore, if Holy Writ bears witness that the Divine Majesty regards with greatest detestation this horrible crime and at times has punished it with death. As St. Augustine notes, “Intercourse even with one’s legitimate wife is unlawful and wicked where the conception of the offspring is prevented. Onan, the son of Juda, did this and the Lord killed him for it"

... the Catholic Church, to whom God has entrusted the defense of the integrity and purity of morals, standing erect in the midst of the moral ruin which surrounds her, in order that she may preserve the chastity of the nuptial union from being defiled by this foul stain, raises her voice in token of her divine ambassadorship and through Our mouth proclaims anew: any use whatsoever of matrimony exercised in such a way that the act is deliberately frustrated in its natural power to generate life is an offense against the law of God and of nature, and those who indulge in such are branded with the guilt of a grave sin."

Charles D. Provan, The Bible and Birth Control: "When God told Jeremiah not to have children in Palestine due to the upcoming invasion of the Babylonian army, He instructed him not to get married, which makes no sense if God allows deliberately non-procreative sex in marriage."

Exodus 23:25-26: "And you shall serve the Lord your God, that I may bless your bread and your waters, and may take away sickness from the midst of thee. There shall not be one fruitless nor barren in thy land: I will fill the number of thy days."

Hosea 9:11: "As for Ephraim, their glory hath flown away like a bird from the birth, and from the womb, and from the conception."

Genesis 20:18: "For the Lord had closed up every womb of the house of Abimelech on account of Sara, Abraham's wife."

Genesis 29:31: "And the Lord seeing that he despised Lia, opened her womb, but her sister remained barren."

Genesis 30:1-2: "And Rachel, seeing herself without children, envied her sister, and said to her husband: Give me children, otherwise I shall die. And Jacob being angry with her, answered: Am I as God, who hath deprived thee of the fruit of thy womb?"

Genesis 30:22: "The Lord also remembering Rachel, heard her, and opened her womb."

Deuteronomy 1:10: "... for the Lord your God hath multiplied you..."

1 Samuel 2:21: "And the Lord visited Anna, and she conceived, and bore three sons and two daughters..."

1 Chronicles 25:5: "... and God gave to Heman fourteen sons and three daughters."

St. Robert Bellarmine, De Romano Pontifice, Book 2, Chap. 30: "... for men are not bound, or able to read hearts; but when they see that someone is a heretic by his external works, they judge him to be a heretic pure and simple, and condemn his as a heretic."

NOTORIOUS IN LAW - Refers to when a sentence has been passed by a canonical judge or the offender has confessed in court (i.e. a declaration/process).

NOTORIOUS IN FACT - No declaration or process required. It refers to when the offending action is publicly known and its sinful or imputable character is also publicly known.

Woywod and Smith, A Practical Commentary On The Code Of Canon Law, Imprimatur 1957, p. 448: “… an offense is notorious by notoriety of fact, if it is publicly known and committed under such circumstances that it cannot be concealed by any subterfuge, nor excused by any excuse admitted in law (i.e., both the fact of the offence and the imputability or criminal liability must be publicly known)...”

Rev. Eric F. Mackenzie, The Delict Of Heresy, Catholic University of America, Imprimatur 1932, p. 44: “A delinquent guilty of the simple delict of heresy (who therefore has not continued in rebellious disregard of canonical warnings and punishments, nor joined any non-Catholic sect), incurs ecclesiastical excommunication in its simplest form.”

Rev. Eric F. Mackenzie, The Delict Of Heresy, Catholic University of America, Imprimatur 1932, p. 45: “All sentenced heretics are notorious at least with notoriety of law. Some simple heretics and some heretics who join a non-Catholic sect may be notorious in fact, but the rest, representing perhaps the ordinary case, will be only occult delinquents.”

St. Robert Bellarmine, De Romano Pontifice, Book 2, Chap. 30: “… a manifestly heretical Pope automatically ceases to be Pope and head just as he automatically ceases to be a Christian and a member of the Church, and that for this reason he may be judged and punished by the Church. This is the teaching of all the ancient Fathers who teach that manifest heretics immediately lose all jurisdiction…”

Pope Leo XIII, Satis Cognitum, #9, June 29, 1896: "No one who merely disbelieves in all (these heresies) can for that reason regard himself as a Catholic or call himself one. For there may be or arise some other heresies, which are not set out in this work of ours, and, if anyone holds to a single one of these he is not a Catholic."

Pope Innocent III, Eius exemplo, Dec. 18, 1208: "By the heart we believe and by the mouth we confess the one Church, not of heretics, but the Holy Roman, Catholic, and Apostolic Church outside of which we believe that no one is saved."

Pope Leo XIII, Satis Cognitum, #9, June 29, 1896: "The practice of the Church has always been the same, and that with the consenting judgment [i.e. consensus] of the holy fathers who certainly were accustomed to hold as having no part of Catholic communion and as banished from the Church whoever had departed in even the least way from the doctrine proposed by the authentic magisterium."

Pope Pius XII, Mystici Corporis Christi, #22, June 29, 1943: "Actually only those are to be included as members of the Church who have received the laver of regeneration and profess the true faith..."

Pope Leo XIII, Satis Cognitum, #15, June 29, 1896: "No one, therefore, unless in communion with Peter can share in his authority, since it is absurd to imagine that he who is outside the Church can command in the Church."

Pope Pius XII, Mystici Corporis Christi, #23, June 29, 1943: "For not every offense, although it may be a grave evil, is such as by its very own nature to sever a man from the Body of the Church, as does schism or heresy or apostasy."

St. Robert Bellarmine, On The Roman Pontiff, Book 2, Chap. 30: “… it would be the most miserable condition of the Church, if it were compelled to recognize a wolf, manifestly prowling, for a shepherd.”

Pope Paul IV, Cum ex Apostolatus Officio, Feb. 15, 1559: "...lest it may befall Us to see the abomination of desolation, which was spoken of by the prophet Daniel, in the holy place... We enact, determine, decree and define that if ever at any time it shall appear that any Bishop... prior to his promotion or his elevation as Cardinal or Roman Pontiff, has deviated from the Catholic Faith or fallen into some heresy... the promotion or elevation, even if it shall have been uncontested and by the unanimous assent of all the Cardinals, shall be null, void and worthless..."

MHFM: "This video shows how the term ‘the Bible’ comes from a Catholic saint and bishop. It also exposes a number of very interesting facts about how Martin Luther rejected numerous books of the New Testament. It also discusses numerous problems with the false Protestant doctrine of sola scriptura."

St Thomas Aquinas, Summa Theologiae, Pt. I, Q. 114, A. 4: "Augustine says: Often by means of the magic art miracles are wrought like those which are wrought by the servants of God. I answer that... if we take a miracle in the strict sense, the demons cannot work miracles, nor can any creature, but God alone: since in the strict sense a miracle is something done outside the order of the entire created nature, under which order every power of a creature is contained.

But sometimes miracle may be take in a wide sense, for whatever exceeds human power and experience. And thus demons can work miracles, that is, things which rouse man's astonishment, by reason of their being beyond his power and outside his sphere of knowledge.

It is to noted, however, that although these works of demons which appear marvelous to us are not real miracles, they are sometimes nevertheless something real. Thus the magicians of Pharaoh by the demons' power produces real serpents and frogs."

St Thomas Aquinas, Summa Theologiae, Pt. I, Q. 110, A. 4, Reply to Obj. 2: "So when the demons do anything of their own natural power, these things are called miracles not in an absolute sense, but in reference to ourselves. In this way the magicians work miracles through the demons; and these are said to be done by private contracts..."

St. Athanasius, On The Incarnation, #47, 4th century: "... the magic esteemed among them? That before the Word sojourned among us this was strong and active among Egyptians, and Chaldees, and Indians, and inspired awe in those who saw it; but that by the presence of the Truth, and the Appearing of the Word, it also has been thoroughly confuted, and brought wholly to nought."

St. Athanasius, On The Incarnation, #48, 4th century: "... in the very presence of the deceit of demons and the imposture of oracles and the marvels of magic, let him use the Sign of the Cross which is laughed at among them, and he shall see how by its means demons fly, oracles cease, all magic and witchcraft is brought to nought."

St. John Eudes, Man's Contract With God In Baptism, 17th century: "... those who hold communication with him [i.e. the Devil]; such as sorcerers, magicians, or those who cure diseases, extinguish fires, and do other similar acts by his operation."

St. Alphonsis, The History Of Heresies, Chap. 1, 18th century: "He [Simon] was called Magus or the Magician because he made use of spells to deceive the multitude; and hence he acquired among his countrymen the estraordinary name of 'The Great Power of God' (Acts 8:10)."

Francis X. Talbot, Saint Among Savages: The Life Of St. Isaac Jogues, Ignatius Press, 2002, pp. 116-117: "The deadliest obstacles, the missionaries found, to their efforts to Christianize the Hurons were the multitudinous forms of superstition, sorcery and devil worship... Controlling, and an essential part of this system of preternatural influences were the sorcerers...

All of the sorcerers claimed a preternatural origin and boasted of being in communication with the spirits. The missionaries discovered that many of their practices were trickery and charlatanism, but attributed others to the direct intervention of the devil.

The cabins and huts where they held their seances were oftentimes violently shaken; they themselves would stuff live coals into their mouths without being burned or would thrust their arms into boiling water without being scalded. The rites and ceremonies they conducted were so indecent and revolting that they surpassed unaided human intervention."

1 John 5:19: "We know that we are of God, and the whole world lies in the power of the evil one."

I am a Catholic. The sedevacantist position is the true position. The website https://vaticancatholic.com contains critical information about the one true religion, its necessity for salvation, and what one must do to be saved.

Pope Innocent III, Eius exemplo, Dec. 18, 1208: "By the heart we believe and by the mouth we confess the one Church, not of heretics, but the Holy Roman, Catholic, and Apostolic Church outside of which we believe that no one is saved."

Pope Eugene IV, Council of Florence, Cantate Domino, 1441, ex cathedra: "The Holy Roman Church firmly believes, professes and preaches that all those who are outside the Catholic Church, not only pagans but also Jews or heretics and schismatics, cannot share in eternal life and will go into the everlasting fire which was prepared for the devil and his angels, unless they are joined to the Church before the end of their lives; that the unity of this ecclesiastical body is of such importance that only those who abide in it do the Church's sacraments contribute to salvation and do fasts, almsgiving and other works of piety and practices of the Christian militia productive of eternal rewards; and that nobody can be saved, no matter how much he has given away in alms and even if he has shed blood in the name of Christ, unless he has persevered in the bosom and unity of the Catholic Church." "But it is necessary for eternal salvation that he faithfully believe also in the incarnation of our Lord Jesus Christ...the Son of God is God and man...- This is the Catholic faith; unless each one believes this faithfully and firmly, he cannot be saved."

Pope Pius IX, Vatican Council I, Session 2, Profession of Faith, 1870: "This true Catholic faith, outside of which none can be saved, which I now freely profess and truly hold..."

Pope Gregory XVI, Mirari Vos (# 13), Aug. 15, 1832: "With the admonition of the apostle that 'there is one God, one faith, one baptism' (Eph. 4:5) may those fear who contrive the notion that the safe harbor of salvation is open to persons of any religion whatever.
