BeerandGear
Today #drinkalongwithbeerandgear selection is from Ska Brewing out of Durango Colorado. We've had some of their other brews here on the channel and I figured they might be more accessible to you folks for the drink along.
Modus Mandarina runs 6.8 for the ABVs, the IBUs are 65 and the BME/SRM is 45.
On the nose she is piney, not picking up much of the citrus but she has an odd perfumey note on the end. Initial hit is thin and bitter, oily but not brutal to the palate. Medium fast thru the middle with the flavor profile centered around the mid mouth. Oddly she cleans up on the back, the oily residue is still clinging but the rest of the profile is gone. Weird.
Thanks for coming by and sharing a brewski w Pima, Sancho and I.

I had to. C'mon, like you wouldn't've ? Go watch the video before I taunt you a second time!
On the nose she is lightly beery and pleasant but I didn't pick up the citrus or malts. WGV (Whitbread Golding Variety) is the referenced hop varietal.
The initial hit is interesting, sweet but not overly. Neither Malty nor Bitter this is a well crafted brew. Fast thru the middle, clean and dry on the back end.
A really tasty beer that I was expecting to be a gimmicky product.
4.0 for the ABV, the IBUs are best guess sub 20 and the SRM is a deep rich coppery 24 .

While no longer owned by Italians and having been bought out originally by ABINBEV, thankfully they were saved by Asahi of Japan who continues to brew this tasty treat in the Boot of Europe.
Very light on the nose, not really picking up the citrus, hints at sweetness but not malty.
Initial hit is clean ,crisp with the citrus showing up along w hint of hop skunkiness.
Superfast thru the middle ,clean crisp and desert dry on the backend.
Their web page is flashy but lacks any real info so we'll Best Guess this on
ABV is,5.1, the IBUs have to be somewhere in the 18-20 range and the By My Eye SRM is 2.
I really like the hint of skunk

Today we look at 2 more for the Oktoberfest '21 series. I misspoke they just dont drink the marzens as the dominant brews at the festivals anymore.
These 2 breweries are as solid as they come and the brews are just as expected. One caveat, if you want to drink these be sure to let them warm up a bit, they really pop around 58-60 F.

Another brew from Flagstaff in Az is this session IPA from Grand Canyon Brewing. Trail Hike runs 4.3 ABV , the IBUs are 23 and the SRM is Best Guessed as an 8.
On the nose she is light with a sweet perfume-y floral aroma.
The initial hit varies with the glass but neither was bad. The middle is fast in both and she is dirty and dry on the back end in both the Luigi and the Muffin Top.
This is drinkable and a decent choice for a lunch brew.
The Luigi is the clear winner in this taste off.

* Wednesday( aka Odin's day ) will be when I drop the Oktoberfest's this year
Mother Road Brewing is another local to me brewery. Coming out of Flagstaff I really like the tie in to the Game and Fish dept since I enjoy the outdoors( at least when the weather finally breaks lol)
Running 4.3 ABV ,the IBUs are 19 and the By My Eye SRM is 16
On the nose she is floral and not as rich as I'd've assumed . The initial hit is a bit light for a golden. Good flavor hit up front, she is fast thru the middle and a bit maltier than I expected. On the back end she is clean and dry . All around a nice solid golden good for knocking a few back on a lazy afternoon.
The Luigi vs Teku is a draw on this taster challenge.

A really interesting and well crafted brew. Hitachino Nest Beer White Ale (also listed as as Wit) is a Japanese take on a classic Belgian white. She runs 5.5 for the ABV,13 for the IBUs and she is listed as a 2 for the SRM. Brewed with orange peel, orange juice, coriander and nutmeg this is a trip for the tongue to take. An easy drinker with a great flavor profile she is pleasantly perfumed on the nose. The initial hit is light and dry with the orange and coriander. Fast thru the middle but still no nutmeg and altho she's listed as a belgian she doesn't have that over powering fruitcakey taste. Clean and dry on the back end. This is a very tasty well made brew. This is an easy drinker and good solid choice for summer quaffing.

In this edition of Drink Along w Beer and Gear we look at Boulevards' Gigahop from their Space Camper line of IPAs. Running 5.9 for the ABV and 60 for the IBUs and the EBC/SRM is a 12. Billed as a dual hemisphere brew they use hops from the old world as well as those from down under. On the nose she is interesting with a fruity front overlaying pine. The initial hit is surprisingly well balanced without the expected blitzkrieg of bitterness I usually find in 60 IBU IPAs. Medium fast thru the middle and this is where the bitterness builds. She finishes off dry and dirty on the back end while retaining the bitterness of all 60 IBUs.

One from a previous mixed box that was just wasting away in the queue, I thought it should go out before the season ends. This session sour from Breckenridge comes in at 4.5 for the ABV and 14 for the IBUs. The By My Eye SRM is cloudy yellow 18.
On the nose she is absolutely delicious smelling, fruity and rich with pineapple and guava. Initial hit is sour and acidic, desert dry if you will. The fruit turns over in the blink of an eye into the superfast middle. She is clean an dry on the back end as I expected from the acidity. The flavor profile sit on the sides of the tongue and the interior aspect of the teeth. This would make an excellent lunch brew.

Todays Drink Along brew is Four Peaks Peach Golden Ale. She has a nice beer nose with hints of peach. Initial hit is peach exploding into the mouth. Not overly sweet with the flavor centered on the tongue. She runs a long lazy middle with a dirty dry finish. Not the best peach we've seen this season but nothing to turn down either. Running 4.5 ABV, 9 is the IBUs the By My Eye SRM is a 13.

Just a quick look at a book I ordered off kickstarter for the girls. I liked the art and the story is pretty straight forward about sharing.
Nice fit and finish, colors pop nicely and the style is unique.
All solid brews coming out of this box ranging from 4.25 to 3.75.
A really nice way to spend a lazy late summer afternoon with these low ABV (4.2) low IBU (18) summer slammers. SRM ranged between a sunny hazy 18 to a richer gold 25. Delicious brews all around rated at the end of course by my palate. Be the Big 3 folks

Breckenridge was one of my go to breweries but sadly they are on the No Go To list since they were bought out by global giant AB-INBEV.
On the nose she is sweet and fruity like strawberry quik or Frankberry cereal. Initial Hit is vacant and dry. The berry flavor kicks in quickly, yields to the melon and then the berry takes back the profile. She coats the mouth nicely with the flavor centered mid tongue and palate. She is a very dry brew with a super fast middle and a clean, arid finish. Not bad but a bit sweet for me. She runs 4.8 for the ABV, 23 IBUs and the By My Eye SRM is 33.
*Pay no attention to the gibberish in the middle that's was the review for POTUS Puddinhead *46

*This is probably a bad can but I only had a sample of 1 so if yours was different let me now below in the comments.
San Tan Brewing brings us today's "Drink Along With Beer and Gear " selection. Pebble Head Stoney Hazy IPA is billed as having the flavors of Stone fruits, Tangerine and Passion fruit. The nose is fruity without being overly hoppy altho it has an odd chemical tang. ( think vinyl pool float ) Initial hit is juicy even with that pool float flavor. She is running 6.5 for the ABV, 30 is the IBUs and the SRM is a By My Eye 35. She comes in fast with the juicy flavors that are predominantly targeted on the tip of the tongue. She fills the mouth nicely and is fast thru the vacant middle before the flavors re-emerge at the back of the throat. Not particularly dirty, dry on the finish with that odd chemical pool toy taste all the way through. A decent if chemically tainted version of the style.

A special Sunday edition. aka I had a bug up my ass and decided to have a few cocktails while cooking.
Enjoy !
* Castoreum aka Beaver Anal Gland extract
Spoetzel Brewing AKA the Brewhaus of Shiners' various beers and ales give us this weeks beer. A lime and salt lager that has been a minor rage this season. Much like the Mexican lagers that are salted and limed and so popular, everyone else seems to have jumped into the fray.
This lager runs 4.0 for the ABV, 20 is the IBU count and the SRM BME (by my eye) is a nice pale straw 6.
The nose is nice, lager backbone with a citrus lime kick.
The initial hit is thin and fast as American and Mexican lagers tend to be.
Super fast middle that coats the entire mouth and leaves a clingy residue thats off putting. On the back end she is dirty and dry , it has that residual cling in there.
meh ok but not great.

Summer Love from Victory Brewings' Seasonal Favorites series is up this week. Victory has some good brews in their lines and this one is no slouch. Billed as a Golden Ale she runs 5.2 ABV ,best guess of 25 for the IBUs and the( By My Eye) BME/ SRM is a solid sunny/lemony 8. With no real history of this brew on their page I imagine they were trying to break into the "Lightly Hopped" craze from a couple of years back. Unfortunately this one is a miss for me. With Simcoe and Tettnang being the hop blend they said they were shooting for a "Lemony-Piney" angle.
On the nose she is hop forward with the pine from the Tettnang overlying the lemony-citrus of the simcoe, pleasant and appealing to the the sniffer. On the initial hit she is piney/hoppy with a nice solid mouth fill and then the piney disappears. Medium thru the middle with a solid blonde ale flavor. The pine comes back on the finish at the very back end. She is dry and dirty when all is said and done. A very interesting brew and if hop fade is what they were designing they did a great job. Not bad but not going into the rotation.

The last brew from the Sam Adams Sips of Summer box, this is the Lemon Radler. Radlers are named for cyclists (German) and is usually a 50/50 mix of Lager and Fruit Soda. This one says lemon juice so maybe more a corona-esque take but we'll see if she's up to snuff.
Running 4.5 ABV the IBUs are 8 and the SRM is a 6.
On the nose she is heavy on the lemon with not real beer aroma, no surprise there. The initial hit is lemony and slightly tart with a good mouth fill. She's thin and very fast thru the middle with the lemon oils making her a dirty girl. She finishes surprisingly crisp and dirty on the back end. Not a bad brew but I'm not much of a fan of the style.

Ran across a vid for free Inmarsat Isatphone listed for $345 free with the code melkphone from her video.
Something to consider if you're shtf prepping. The satphone would be for long distance stuff the walkies would still be used but for close range and in group comms. My walkies are billed as 35M Line Of Sight but thats just what theyre billed as.
