On Wednesday, March 30, 2022, Deputy Christopher Witte arrested Brandy McGowan (W/F, DOB: 09/15/1989) for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

At around 1:30 p.m., on Wednesday, Deputy Witte and Property Crimes Detective Pamela Thomas responded to the Walmart on South US Highway 441 in Summerfield, in reference to McGowan threatening customers and store employees with a brick and a knife. When Deputy Witte and Detective Thomas arrived, they located McGowan in the clothing department, wielding a pocket knife and making incoherent statements. Deputy Witte repeatedly instructed McGowan to drop the knife, but she ignored those commands. Deputy Witte deployed his taser at McGowan, which successfully disarmed her and provided an opportunity to place her in handcuffs.

Through the investigation, it was learned that McGowan entered the business wielding a brick and began threatening customers as she was walking around. She then located a pocket knife for sale and began opening the packaging with a pair of scissors from the store. Once the knife was open, she continued to threaten employees and customers until Deputy Witte and Detective Thomas arrived. After McGowan was arrested, it was discovered that she ingested approximately four grams of methamphetamine earlier in the day. She was first transported to the hospital for evaluation.

Upon her release from the hospital, McGowan was transported to the Marion County Jail, where she remains.

Vancouver, Clark County, Washington --- On Saturday, January 29, 2022 around 2014 hours police responded to Chevron, 9810 NE 117th Avenue, Vancouver,
for an armed robbery that just occurred. The caller reported a 23-24YOA white male reportedly produced a handgun,
pointed the firearm at the clerk’s chest and demanded money. The suspect fled the scene in a stolen dark-colored
Mercedes passenger car with several hundred dollars. Twelve minutes later, the armed robbery suspect was
intercepted by police traveling northbound on I-205. The robbery suspect failed to stop for police and the suspect
eluded officer’s apprehension attempts. The robbery suspect eluded officers for several miles and eventually exited I5 toward the City of Battle Ground, Washington where assisting officers successfully deployed spike strips to
immobilize the vehicle. The robbery suspect then exited the vehicle and fled on foot to avoid apprehension.
As assisting officers established containment, a resident in the Battle Ground area called 911 reporting a lone male,
coincidentally matching the description of the robbery suspect, was pounding on their front door asking for assistance
because he had just been involved in a collision. The female caller told emergency dispatch her husband was an armed
off-duty Vancouver Police Officer and had exited their residence onto the driveway in front of their home in an
attempt to detain the suspect for responding officers. The suspect then became aggressive and engaged in a physical
fight with the off-duty officer while the female caller was still on the phone with emergency dispatch.
The off-duty officer lost control of his firearm and suffered several stab wounds during the struggle with the suspect.
The suspect broke free from the struggle and ran toward the officer’s residence which was occupied by the officer’s
wife, who was still on the phone with emergency dispatch.
The off-duty officer was able to recover his firearm that he lost control of during the struggle then ran after the
suspect who was attempting to enter his home while still in possession of the instrument used to stab him. Within
seconds of responding law enforcement officers arriving on scene, one Clark County Deputy Sheriff fired several
rounds from a rifle striking the off-duty officer.
The off-duty officer/homeowner collapsed on his front porch before responding officers were able to determine he
was the homeowner and not the alleged robbery suspect. The suspect surrendered to police moments later and was
taken into custody without incident. Officers attempted to provide emergency trauma care to the off-duty officer, but
they were unable to stabilize him.
The deceased off-duty Vancouver Police Officer has been identified as 52YOA Donald Sahota.

The Phoenix Police Department has released a Critical Incident Briefing (CIB) video that includes audio, visuals and information related to an officer-involved shooting (OIS) which occurred on March 12, 2022.

This incident occurred in the area of 75th Avenue and Buckeye Road, when Phoenix Police were called about two men refusing to get off a Valley Metro bus. One of those men was later identified as Adam Vespoli.

The bus was stopped at the intersection of 75th Avenue and Buckeye Road. A patrol officer arrived and parked his Police vehicle at the front of the bus. The officer boarded the bus and instructed both men to get off. Mr. Vespoli left the bus first. The officer's body warn camera stops recording before the 2nd subject gets off the bus. Bus surveillance footage captured the 2nd subject leaving the bus.

At about the same time, the bus camera facing forward shows Mr. Vespoli walking over to the patrol Tahoe in front of the bus. He opens the driver's side door, gets in and closes the door. The officer noticed this and ran out to stop Mr. Vespoli from stealing the police vehicle. As the officer left the bus, his body worn camera fell off of his uniform, so he was unable to reactivate it.

Once the officer got to the curb, he stepped on the running board of the Tahoe. With his service weapon drawn, he extended his arm into the driver window of the police Tahoe.

Mr. Vespoli began to drive, with the officer still standing on the running board. That is when the officer-involved shooting occurred. As the officer broke free from the vehicle, the Tahoe came into contact with the right side of his body.

After the shooting the vehicle continued to drive east and struck a tree on the opposite side of the road.

The bus driver picked up the officer's body worn camera and brought it over to him. The officer then put it back on his body and reactivate it. The officer began lifesaving measures on Mr. Vespoli until the arrival the Phoenix Fire Department. Mr. Vespoli was transported to a local hospital where he died from his wounds.

Vespoli’s father Mike says his son Adam was addicted to heroin. Adam was seeking treatment. He left Mike a voicemail early Saturday morning saying he was arrested overnight for sleeping beneath an underpass. He was calling to ask his dad for a ride to the clinic.

The San Jose police Department released body camera (4), police helicopter air support footage, information about an officer involved in fatal shooting of an armed, wanted felon that attempted two carjackings before being killed in a shootout with officers on January 2021.

San Jose Police Chief Anthony identifying the gunman as 32-year-old Robert Seth Carter.

The incident began when a police helicopter located a stolen Toyota Camry in the area of Story Road and King Road at about 6 p.m. Wednesday. When ground units approached the Camry, the driver sped away, driving erratically and at times going in the opposing traffic lanes on surface streets.

While patrol vehicles did not pursue the Camry, the police helicopter followed it as it traveled onto northbound Interstate 280 and then onto northbound Interstate 880, exiting onto The Alameda and into the city of Santa Clara. As seen from the police helicopter, the driver Carter, then pulled up to a vehicle on Monroe Street, pointed a gun at the driver who ran away, and tried to take off in the new vehicle, Mata said. Carter was unable operate the vehicle for an unknown reason; he returned to the stolen Camry and drove off, back into the city of San Jose.

everal blocks away at the intersection of Park Ave. and W. Hedding St., the Camry crashed into another vehicle occupied by two people. Carter was able to extricate himself out of the passenger window of the disabled Camry which burst into flames, and fled on foot heading north on Park Ave. holding a handgun and carrying a backpack. Mata said he approached a vehicle traveling south on Park Ave. and pointed a gun at the driver, just as a police officer was approaching from the opposite direction.

Mata said Carter fired a round in the direction of the passing vehicle and the approaching officer, but no one was hit. The officer returned fire at Carter, who continued running through a parking lot in the direction of W. Hedding. A second officer heading east on Hedding in a patrol vehicle saw Carter running, pulled up and got out of the vehicle to confront him.

Mata said video evidence shows Carter pointed his gun directly at the second officer who opened fire.

“Carter pointed his gun at the officer. The officer fired his weapon at Carter, striking him at least once,” said Mata.

After being shot, the still-armed Carter was able to move to the front yard of a home at W. Hedding and Burrell Court where three other officers arrived. Carter continued to point his gun in the direction of the officer who had shot him and the three other officer opened fire on Carter who was hit several more times.

Carter fell to the ground and the handgun was still next to his hand; a police K-9 arrived and the dog latched onto Carter’s leg, pulling him away from the handgun, Mata said.

Police then handcuffed Carter and began to provide first aid until medics arrived. He was taken to a hospital where he died of his injuries.

OFFICER-INVOLVED SHOOTING: January 13, 2022
Shortly after 12:00 P.M. on January 13, 2022, officers from the Southwest Policing District responded to a call of multiple windows being broken out at the historic Meux Home Museum located at R Street and Tulare Street. The 9-1-1 caller reported that the male suspect was pacing around outside the museum holding a six-inch knife.
Two officers arrived at the location and found the man at the front doorway. As officers called out to him, the man began yelling profanities at the officers and walked aggressively towards them. The officers attempted to calm him down, but the man did not cooperate with the officers’ attempts to de-escalate the situation. The male continued to yell profanities and challenge the officers, then suddenly attempted to assault one of them. That officer deployed a TASER and the man pulled the TASER darts out after the darts struck him. He then grabbed a hammer and raised it above his head and charged at the officers.

Both officers fired their weapons and immediately called for EMS personnel. Officers rendered medical aid until paramedics arrived.
The suspect in the case, 26-year-old Edgar Morfin Mendoza, was shot by the officers and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The Phoenix Police Department released body cam, 911 call and information related to an officer-involved shooting (OIS) which occurred on February 11, 2022.

This incident occurred in the area of 54th Avenue and Elwood street at 2:10 a.m., when a 911 call was made and a man, later identified as 36-year-old Morris Jones, reported his wife had been shot by intruders during a robbery.

“It's a gunshot wound. We had an intruder," Morris told the 911 operator.

Officers would later discover Jones had shot and killed his ex-girlfriend, Shatifah Lobley inside the home.

At about 2:15 a.m., the first officer arrived at the house and approached Jones, who was standing in the threshold of the front doorway. Jones waved his arm repeatedly, motioning the officer to come inside while saying, “Come on, come on." When the officer neared the front door, Jones raised a handgun that he had concealed by his side and shot the officer multiple times. The officer turned and ran down the street while notifying other officers he had been shot and needed help.

The next officer on scene arrived just as Jones shot the first officer. That second officer fired his duty weapon at Jones, striking him once as Jones went back into the house and closed the door.

Over the next few minutes, multiple officers arrived on scene and set up a perimeter around the house. At about 2:28 a.m., Jones went outside to a small fenced-in side-yard area and shot into the air, in the direction of the police helicopter overhead.

At about 2:32 a.m., Jones got into a vehicle in the garage, on the backside of the house. The garage door opened, and Jones tried to drive away. A police vehicle parked at the back of the house prevented Jones from leaving. Squealing could be heard from Jones' vehicle as he drove into the police vehicle.

After the unsuccessful attempt to leave, Jones closed the garage door and went back inside the house.

At about 2:36 a.m., Lobley's brother came out of the front door holding a baby. Officers did not know his involvement in the incident, so they instructed him to put the baby down and walk backwards toward the officers. He followed their directions and was detained.

As two officers placed handcuffs on Lobley's brother, another group of officers moved toward the front of the house to rescue the baby. As the officers reached the front door, Jones shot multiple times, striking several officers.

Lobley's brother and several other officers nearby were struck by bullet fragments that ricocheted off the ground.

During this round of shots, Jones was inside the house at the top of the stairs, which are directly inside the open front door.

At about 2:49 a.m., Morris again fired from inside the house. One officer returned fire.

Officers from the Special Assignments Unit (SAU) arrived on scene and developed a plan using armored vehicles and shields to rescue the baby. This occurred at about 3:30 a.m.

At about 3:39 a.m., Jones shot at and struck the armored vehicle while SAU officers were inside it, causing damage to one of the tires.

SAU negotiators had been talking with Jones over the phone to get him to come out of the house and surrender. Jones did not stay on the phone. The negotiators sent text messages and left voicemails as well.

SAU officers launched gas rounds into the house to encourage Jones to come out. When there was no response, the officers eventually entered the residence and located Jones inside, dead, from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. They also located the adult female victim, Shatifah Lobley, dead from a gunshot wound.

Detectives later determined Jones used a handgun when he shot the officer who initially approached the front door.

Each subsequent volley of gunfire from Jones was with a rifle. Both weapons were located inside the home next to Jones' body.

The warrant, in this case, was for an aggravated robbery charge filed Friday, three days before Lockett was killed. According to court documents, the alleged robbery happened back in November. In those documents, investigators laid out the evidence.

Someone who claims he knew Lockett from high school told police Lockett and another man tried to rob him in a parking lot and it ended with shots fired.

Four officers responded by discharging their duty weapons towards the suspect, striking him,” HPD Assistant Chief Belinda Null, said in HPD’s released video.

"Our Crime Suppression Team pulled up in front of the residence before they could get out of the car. The suspect began to fire upon them multiple times, the four officers returned fire," said Houston Police Chief Troy Finner.

Charion Lockett, 27, was a college graduate and had a master's in criminal justice. His family says he dreamed of going to law school.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office released body camera, surveillance video of an Officer involved Shooting that occurred on 11200 Lem Turner Road, Jacksonville, Florida on January 08-2022.

At about 1 a.m. Saturday January 08-2022, officers stopped a car with five people inside for a red light violation, and the car pulled into the parking lot of Big Chief Tire Shop on Lem Turner Road. JSO Chief of Investigations T.K. Waters said.

Waters said that during the stop, they smelled marijuana inside the car and noticed the man in the front passenger seat was wearing “body armor,” which made the officers suspicious.

The man later identified as Teronnie Wade, 27, refused to get out of the car when asked by officers, who then pulled him from the car, according to Waters. Then officers noticed Wade had a gun and a magazine that was “sticking out pretty far,” Waters said.

When the officers attempted to handcuff Wade, he swung at officers and ran away. While fleeing, he fired shots at police, who returned fire, Waters said.

The shootout continued as Wade ran, stretching into the middle of Lem Turner Road — until Wade was wounded, Waters said.

According to Anne Maxwell of I-TEAM News4Jax article: "Teronnie Wade, 27, is a convicted felon who was out on bond awaiting trial in a 2020 case, according to Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office records.

Wade was awaiting trial on charges from a traffic stop in 2020 in which he was also a passenger. According to an arrest report, Wade was found in possession of a handgun, 22 bags of cocaine and the synthetic drug Flakka, a street drug similar to bath salts.

Wade originally received a bond of nearly $130,000 that was later lowered to $50,000. When he didn’t show for a court date in October, a bench warrant was issued for his arrest.

Previously, court records show, Wade was sentenced to a year in jail in 2014 after pleading guilty to grand theft auto. In 2017, according to court records, he was sentenced to three years in prison after pleading guilty to having a gun as a convicted felon."

The Daytona Beach Police Department released body camera picture and details about an Officer-Involved in a Fatal shooting that occurred just yesterday February 9, 2022.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) is now investigating a fatal shooting this evening (February 9, 2022) involving officers with the Daytona Beach Police Department (DBPD).

None of the DBPD officers involved were hurt, but a man wanted on an open warrant succumbed to his injuries shortly after he was transported to Halifax Health Medical Center for treatment of multiple gunshot wounds following tonight’s incident at the intersection of U.S. 1/Ridgewood Avenue and Beville Road, which sits near the city borders of Daytona Beach and South Daytona.

Around 8:00 p.m., several DBPD officers were monitoring that man – who was wanted in connection to a shooting in the Fairway Estates neighborhood earlier this month – when he walked out of a residence and into the passenger seat of a white 4-door sedan.

Officers followed the vehicle as it left the home and performed a traffic stop near the U.S. 1/Beville intersection in order to take him into custody, boxing the vehicle in so that it could not leave and sending in a K-9 unit when he refused to leave the vehicle peacefully.

As the K-9 attempted to pull him out of the vehicle, the man appeared to reach for a firearm located inside the car, leading to the officers opening fire.

UPDATE (02/10/2022): The man who was fatally wounded in this incident has been identified as 36-year-old Randy D. Lansang, an Ormond Beach resident. Body camera video of the incident is also posted below.
