INCIDENT VIDEO 1:
This is body-worn camera video from Volusia Sheriff's Office Deputy Brady Bergeron, who was involved in yesterday's November 21- 2020 shooting of an armed suspect who shot and wounded a New Smyrna Beach police officer.

The deceased suspect was identified as Matthew Thomas, 25, of Holly Hill.

Deputy Bergeron, 24, was hired by the Sheriff's Office in April 2019 and has prior law enforcement experience at Daytona Beach PD.

The injured officer from New Smyrna Beach Police Department is Ralph Hunnefeld. Hunnefeld and his fellow NSBPD officers David McCallister and Margaret Deal also returned fire at Thomas.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is conducting the investigation into this shooting.

NSB POLICE OFFICER WOUNDED IN SHOOTING; SUSPECT KILLED WHEN POLICE AND DEPUTY RETURN FIRE

An armed suspect who fled from police this afternoon in Port Orange shot and wounded a New Smyrna Beach police officer before police and a Volusia sheriff’s deputy returned fire, killing him. The NSB police officer was taken to a hospital and is recovering from his injury.

The incident started around 4 p.m. at Nova and Spruce Creek roads, where a Port Orange police officer attempted a traffic stop on a driver of a green Lincoln sedan who took off fleeing recklessly at high speed. Officers followed the car at a distance as it headed toward New Smyrna Beach.

When the car reached the area of Turnbull Street and Industrial Park Avenue, a deputy deployed stop sticks and the car crashed outside a storage facility, where the suspect bailed out and ultimately started firing at police. Around 4:17 p.m., the officer was shot. Moments later, the suspect was shot by return fire.

INCIDENT VIDEO 2 with the same Volusia Sheriff's Deputy Brady Bergeron:
STRANDED MOM FINDS KINDNESS FROM VOLUSIA SHERIFF’S OFFICE

Two Volusia sheriff’s deputies opened their hearts and their wallets early Wednesday to help an Orlando mom who was found at a gas station in New Smyrna Beach with no money for a place to stay, nor a second car seat to travel safely with her two small daughters.

Deputies learned of the family’s plight from an off-duty Seminole sheriff’s deputy who said the woman was observed driving with an infant on her lap and then looking for help at the BP station at State Road 44/County Road 415.

The woman told Volusia deputies she was traveling to the beach for a few days and planned to rent an Airbnb in New Smyrna Beach, using her debit card to pay for it. But she said she had no money because her debit card and ID had been stolen in Orlando. She said she was asking for money to buy gas.

After Deputy Brady Bergeron noticed her car contained only one car seat for a toddler and no seat for her 5-month-old infant, the woman said she had no way to pay for a car seat and no friends or family that could help her.

So Deputy Bergeron went to Wal-Mart and bought a car seat for the baby to travel in. He installed the new car seat and safely adjusted the existing car seat for her 2-year-old sister. Food and water were provided from the BP station.

After determining the family had no place to stay for the night, VSO Sgt. Austin Hairston followed suit and made arrangements for the family to stay at a hotel in Edgewater. Deputies followed the family to the hotel where they helped them check in.

Sheriff Mike Chitwood commended the dedication and generosity of the deputies who stepped in to help a citizen in need. All involved will be receiving letters of commendation.

The NYPD 113th Precinct Release of Body Camera Footage from a Police-Involved Firearm Discharge that Occurred on Oct. 8 2020.
November 20, 2020

The NYPD is releasing today body-worn camera footage from an officer-involved shooting that occurred on Oct. 8, 2020, in the confines of the 113th Precinct.

The video includes available evidence and details leading up to the incident as well as during the incident.

The Suspect Tyran Dent, 24 shot 5 times at the officers and the officers shot a total of 59 times.

The Suspect Tyran Dent was previously involved in a shooting. Dent was wanted for shooting and wounding two men and two women on Merrick Blvd. near Foch Blvd. in Jamaica early on Sept. 20, police said.

“I’ve been in jail and I ain’t going back,” he subsequently wrote on social media, referring to his prison stint on a gun charge.

The NYPD is releasing this video for clear viewing of the totality of the incident.

All NYPD patrol officers are equipped with body-worn cameras. The benefits of cameras are clear: transparency into police activity, de-escalation of police encounters and accountability for police officers, through an independent account of interactions between the police and the citizens they serve. Body-worn cameras serve as a vital part of ongoing efforts to increase trust between the police and all New Yorkers.

Soon after he shot three people, a panicked 17-year-old Kyle Rittenhouse told a friend he expected to go to jail for life, but that if he had not fired, he would "probably be dead."

The account comes from a newly released video of a Kenosha detective questioning Dominick Black, the 19-year-old charged with buying Rittenhouse the rifle he used to kill two people and injure a third.

“The dude’s sweating like a pig. He’s just freaking out. His face is white,” Black said of Rittenhouse.

“He’s like, ‘I’m going to jail for the rest of my life. I’m done.’ He’s just scared. I'm just trying to calm him down."

Rittenhouse was charged with two counts of homicide and faces four other charges in connection with the Aug. 25 Kenosha protest shootings that killed Joseph Rosenbaum, 36, and Anthony Huber, 26, and injured Gaige Grosskreutz, 26.

He was released Friday afternoon from the Kenosha County Jail after his attorney posted the $2 million bail. His legal team has said he acted in self-defense.

Black faces charges of intentionally providing a dangerous weapon to a minor, resulting in death. He was bound over for trial earlier this week.

Black and Rittenhouse told police they had were in Kenosha to protect a car lot during the unrest that followed the police shooting of Jacob Blake. Both were armed.

Detective Ben Antaramian questioned Black for about an hour the morning of Aug. 26 at the police station in Antioch, Illinois, where Rittenhouse had turned himself in.

The video adds more detail to documents released last month by Antioch police that described Black's initial account to police there after the shooting. Rittenhouse's sister also was questioned that night. A video of Rittenhouse's interview has not yet been released.

911 received another call, this time from Sarver asking for police to come to his house.

“Um, we just need police bad… It’s just really bad,” Sarver told the 911 operator. “What’s going on is really bad.”

Two officers arrived on scene and walked towards the residence. Before reaching the front door, a man, later identified as Paul Sarver emerged from behind a parked vehicle in the driveway. Sarver walked towards the driver officer in the roadway. Sarver told the officer he had a gun and simultaneously pointed the item at the officer. Both Officers fired at Sarver. Striking him.

The San Leandro Police Department released body camera (3) of an officer involved shooting that occurred on October 24, 2020, about 9:15PM, San Leandro Police Officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a Silver Sedan for traffic violations in the area of 148th Avenue and Wake Avenue. The sedan failed to stop, and a pursuit ensued.

The pursuit continued for several blocks and ended when the Sedan stopped near the intersection of 137th Avenue and School Street. The driver of the sedan immediately ran away on foot and fled into backyard of a residence in the 1700 block of 137th Avenue.

A firearm was discovered during the search of the sedan. Additional San Leandro Police Officers responded to area and, after an exhaustive search, the driver of the sedan was not located. Subsequently, the search for the driver was cancelled.
Acting on the belief that the driver of sedan was still hiding somewhere in the 1700 block of 137th Avenue, two uniformed police officers got an undercover police vehicle and began driving through the neighborhood in an effort to locate the driver.

About 11:55PM, the officers were parked on 137th Avenue just east of Bancroft Avenue when unbeknownst to them an unrelated silver vehicle pulled up behind them and suddenly stopped. As the officers began to exit the undercover vehicle to contact the driver of this uninvolved vehicle, the driver, later identified as John Berry 43, years old, who was still seated in the driver’s seat raised a firearm above the dashboard and in the direction of the officers.

Both officers immediately saw the driver raise the firearm in their direction and used their service weapons striking Berry man multiple times in his upper torso. Officers provided first aid to Berry until the arrival of paramedics. He was later transported to a local hospital where he was listed in critical condition.
As with all officer involved shootings, the department will be conducting a complete multi-level review. The officers involved were placed on administrative leave which is standard protocol in any officer involved shooting.
No officers sustained any injuries and a semi-automatic firearm was recovered at the scene.

The Alameda County District Attorney’s Office will also conduct an independent investigation of the incident, as they do with all officer involved shootings that result in injury or death.

It remains important to note that we are in the early stages of this investigation and more information will bring additional clarity to what happened.

The Phoenix Police Department released a Critical Incident Briefing (CIB) video that includes audio, visuals and information related to an officer-involved shooting which occurred in the overnight hours of October 22, 2020 near 35th Avenue and Washington Avenue.

Around 1:00 a.m. a security guard called 911 and reported seeing a man, later identified as 21-year-old Carlos A. Rodriguez, arguing with a woman in an apartment complex parking lot. During the argument, the security heard gunfire and believed Rodriguez shot at him and another security guard. The guard was able to get a detailed description of the vehicle before it fled from the apartment complex parking lot.

While the 911 call was being dispatched, officers from the Cactus Park Precinct Neighborhood Enforcement Team (NET) reported hearing gunfire and seeing a silver vehicle leaving the apartment complex at a high rate of speed. The vehicle matched the description given by the security guard.

The NET officers were in a marked police Tahoe. They tried using emergency lights and sirens to stop Rodriguez, but he took off, leading officers on a short pursuit.

The vehicle ran into a car at the intersection of 35th Avenue and McDowell Road, but continued driving south on 35th Avenue despite tire damage. Rodriguez lost control of the car as it turned onto Washington Street from 35th Avenue, crashing into the curb and a fence.

As officers drove up to the vehicle, the woman ran out from the passenger side, screaming for help. Officers saw Rodriguez run from the car, armed with a rifle. Rodriguez shot at the officers and one officer returned fire, striking Rodriguez, which resulted in non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers approached Rodriguez with a ballistic shield since he was still within arm’s length of the rifle.

As the officers began their approach the suspect continued to move toward the rifle, so officers used a stunt bag to keep him away from the rifle. This less lethal shotgun is equipped with stunbag projectiles.

Once officers arrived, the man was hand-cuffed, and officers rendered medical aid by placing a tourniquet on the suspect’s left leg. Phoenix Fire Personnel transported Rodriguez to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Rodriguez had outstanding Felony warrants and once released from the hospital will be booked for aggravated assault on a police officer, possession of a weapon by a prohibited person, and unlawful flight from pursuing law enforcement.

The woman seen running from the vehicle knows the suspect. She was not injured.

There were no additional community members or officers injured during this incident.

The officer involved in this shooting is assigned to the Cactus Park Precinct Neighborhood Enforcement Team and has been with the department for four years.

The Tucson Police Department released multiple body camera of fatal officer-involved shooting that occurred on October 28 afternoon on Tucson’s South Side.

On October 28, 2020, just before 3:30 p.m., officers from Operations Division South were dispatched to 1550 W. Valencia Road for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located the victim near his vehicle. While speaking with him, officers learned the victim was attempting to pull out of the parking lot when he was confronted by a male armed with a handgun. During the confrontation, the suspect fired his weapon striking the victim’s vehicle and fled from the area. Responding officers began searching the area for the suspect. During their search, officers were flagged down by a second victim at 6441 S. Midvale Park Road. The second victim advised officers that the armed male approached him and pointed a handgun at him before running towards the Santa Cruz Riverbed.

As the search for the suspect continued towards the riverbed, officers heard two gunshots fired in their direction. Officers then saw the suspect in the riverbed with a handgun. Officers gave numerous commands to the suspect to drop the weapon and he responded by pointing the handgun in the direction of officers. One of the officers at the scene then discharged his weapon striking the suspect. A team of officers entered the riverbed and approached the suspect. Upon contact, the suspect was found with gunshot trauma and declared deceased. The suspect has been identified as 35-year-old Charles Robert Arviso. Next of kin has been notified.

Detectives with the Tucson Police Violent Crimes Unit and sergeants with the department’s Office of Professional Standards Unit are investigating the incident. The Violent Crimes Unit is conducting the criminal portion of the investigation, while the Office of Professional Standards Unit conducts a separate, but parallel administrative investigation to examine the actions of department personnel. This is standard protocol in all officer-involved shootings.

The officer who discharged his weapon has been identified as Officer John Knowlton, a 19-year-veteran of the Tucson Police Department.
Additional details will be released as they become available. Thankfully, no officers or other community members were injured during this incident. Details are limited at this time as detectives continue their investigation.

The Phoenix Police Department released a Critical Incident Briefing (CIB) video that includes audio, visuals and information related to an officer-involved shooting (OIS) which occurred on the night of October 20, 2020 at about 8:45 p.m. in the area of Indian School Road & 22nd Street.

The incident began when a woman called 911 and said that she barricaded herself in her room out of fear that her son, Emmett Cocreham (44 years old), would hurt and kill her. During the call, the woman said police have responded to her house several times in the past regarding the actions of her two adult sons. The other son being George Cocreham (43 years old).

Before officers arrived, the woman warned the 911 operator that her sons would try to attack the officers. Upon arrival to the house, the responding officers learned both of her sons were inside and could hear one of them yelling incoherently. At this point, officers could see two men through the window, with at least one of them armed, so they called for more units.

Additional officers arrived and positioned themselves behind the house in the alley. They saw both brothers enter the backyard, yelling at each other. Officers observed one of the men, later identified as George, armed with a rifle. Emmett appeared to be unarmed. Officers began to give commands to them both, but they ignored officers and continued arguing with each other. At this point, the rifle from George was never pointed at anyone, and both men re-entered the house out of view from any of the officers. A short time later, Emmett again entered the backyard yelling while pacing on the patio. He again ignored officers’ commands to come speak to them. Officers saw George open the back door and point the rifle at Emmett and at the officers in the alley. Two officers fired their weapons at George. Evidence indicates George also fired one round from his rifle. Both George and Emmett were struck during the shootings.

Officers extracted both men to Phoenix Fire. Fire personnel pronounced Emmett deceased on scene. George died at the hospital.

One rifle and a bb gun resembling a handgun were recovered at the scene.

The involved officers are assigned to the Mountain View Precinct. Both officers are 27 years old and both have 4 years of service.

There were no injuries to officers or any other community members.

This incident is the subject of both an internal and a criminal investigation, which will be reviewed by the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office. Conclusions about whether the actions of the officers are consistent with department policy and the law will not be made until all facts are known and the investigation is complete.

Henderson Police Department Investigating Armed Robbery/Kidnapping Resulting in an Officer-Involved Shooting:

On October 15, 2020, at 6:10 pm, Henderson Police Officers responded to the area of East Lake Mead Parkway and Boulder Highway to investigate the report of a kidnapping/armed robbery, which ultimately ended in an officer discharging his firearm, striking the suspect seven times.
During the initial news briefing, it was reported that the suspect exited his vehicle with a firearm in his hand, which resulted in the officer-involved shooting. Through the course of the investigation, it was determined that the suspect did not exit the vehicle armed with a firearm. This handgun was recovered and impounded by investigators.
Based upon these findings, the suspect, David Flores Jr., has been charged with the following offenses:

Attempt Robbery w/a Deadly Weapon
Assault on a Protected Person w/a Deadly Weapon
Driver Disobeying a Peace Officer/Endangering other Persons/Property
Possession of a Gun with an Altered/Removed Serial Number
Ex-Felon Possession of a Firearm
Flores was transported to an area hospital where he remains in stable condition expected to survive. His booking photo is not available at this time.
These are the details known at this point in the investigation. However, it is important to reiterate that the investigation is still ongoing. We will continue to investigate all the facts and circumstances surrounding this incident diligently and will provide any significant updates as they become available.
The department is preparing a Critical Incident Community Briefing that will provide the details related to this incident. We expect this to be completed and released in the next week.

Waukegan police have released body camera and dashboard camera footage from a fatal police shooting that left a Black man dead and a Black woman injured.

19-year-old Marcellis Stinnette was killed in the Oct. 20 shooting, while his girlfriend Tafara Williams suffered serious injuries.

According to Waukegan officials, the officer who fired the shots in the incident did not have his body camera activated when he opened fire, but turned the camera on shortly after the shooting. That footage, along with body camera footage from other officers and the dashboard footage from the officer’s vehicle, was released Wednesday after it was first shown to the Stinnette and Williams families.

In one of the videos released, taken from the dashboard of the officer who fired the shots at the vehicle, the car is shown speeding away from the police cruiser on the night of the shooting. After a brief pursuit, the vehicle comes to a stop on the grass on a side street, then is seen reversing.

The officer is heard yelling at the driver to stop, then gunshots are heard before the footage stops.

Another video shows the officer’s body-worn camera, which was turned on after the shots were fired.

“You almost tried to run me over!” the officer is heard shouting at Williams.

Williams can be heard shouting “he got shot, he got shot” while the officer’s body camera continues to roll.

According to Waukegan Mayor Sam Cunningham, the officer who fired the shots did not have his body camera activated at the time of the shooting.

“This was a breach of Waukegan Police Department policies, and one of the reasons for the officer’s termination,” Cunningham said.

The family was shown the footage early Wednesday, and held a press conference to discuss what the videos displayed.

“What you are going to see is an officer who’s overreacting to a situation, who’s acting aggressively, who’s going out of bounds,” Stinnette family attorney Kevin O’Connor said. “They waited over eight minutes to even get help. He could have survived if they would have been acting appropriately and helped him out. They threw him away like he was nothing.”

The Waukegan Police Department turned the case over to Illinois State Police. ISP’s findings will be shared with the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office, who will have final determination on whether charges will be filed in the case.

Police say Williams was driving the vehicle and Stinnette was a passenger that fled a traffic stop conducted by an officer late on Oct. 20. A short time later, their vehicle was spotted by another officer, who is shown on dashboard footage pursuing the vehicle.

Authorities said that Williams’ vehicle came to a stop, then began to reverse toward the officer, and that’s when he opened fire.

According to Williams’ account of the incident, officers on the scene waited eight minutes to call for medical assistance despite Stinnette suffering multiple gunshot wounds. He later died from his injuries.

Dashcam footage from the police car shows him being chased through the streets with the patrol vehicle - at one point even ramming him in a bid to stop him.

However, he drives off as he fires his weapons at pursuing officers.

The chase then came to a dramatic end when officers collided head-on with the Camaro Azevedo was driving in a residential street.

An uninvolved motorist’s SUV was also struck during the incident but the female driver was able to flee to safety as police took up positions behind their patrol cars.

Azevedo reportedly pointed his gun at officers and began maneuvering the Camaro towards police, who opened fire.

SWAT officers approached the suspect and fired. Azevedo died at the scene.

Azevedo was reportedly barred from legally possessing a handgun.

He has been described as being 'in prison or in jail all the time' and as someone who had a past that included abusing drugs and fleeing from the police, people who knew him told the Seattle Times. He apparently was previously engaged and also the father to a three-year-old girl.

Court records indicate Azevedo's rap sheet also includes a 2010 hit-and-run incident as well as a pursuit in 2010 with police in which he drove the wrong way on a street before ramming a car.
The following year, he was involved in a car and foot chase in which he assaulted an officer before he was Tased and put into custody, according to records.

The San Bernardino Police Department Released information included the 9-1-1 audio from the original female caller and the Body Worn Camera video from the solo involved officer regarding an incident that occurred on October 22, 2020 a little after 11 p.m in San Bernardino. Please Subscribe!

The San Bernardino Police Department responded to a call late Thursday because a man was allegedly jumping on vehicles outside of a convenience store in the parking lot of King Tut Liquor in the 200 block of East Street, in the California city Sgt. John Echevarria said.

The suspect, Mark Matthew Bender Jr., 35, did not listen to officers who approached him and attempted to enter the store.

“The responding officer identified himself and ordered the suspect to show his hands. The suspect clearly ignored the officer and walked away from him, saying he was going to the store,” Sgt. John Echevarria said in a Friday statement. “The officer noticed several patrons and employees inside of the convenience store and attempted to detain the suspect before he entered, to prevent him from harming anyone inside.

Sgt. John Echevarria said Bender had “retrieved a weapon from his pocket” during the struggle.

“When the officer saw that he had a weapon, he defended himself with his firearm,” Echevarria said, adding that detectives at the scene found a handgun Bender drew from his pocket before he was shot.

Bender was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Echevarria said Friday that an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
