Cottonwood, Aizona --- On the evening of April 12, 2024 at about 7:50 PM, a Cottonwood Police Department officer conducted a traffic stop in the 500 block of South 12th Street in Cottonwood for a a vehicle driving without it's lights on and following another vehicle too closely.

During the traffic stop the driver, exited the vehicle despite being ordered by the officer to stay inside the vehicle.
After a short conversation, the driver attacked the officer.

A physical encounter took place between the officer and the suspect with one of the suspect's arms around the officer's neck. Police said that during the struggle, the suspect attempted to take the officer's firearm, during which the officer's magazine came out of his firearm.

The suspect and the officer felt down a nearby embankment where the officer requested backup and attempted to deploy his taser. The taser was ineffective and the suspect rushed at the officer. Officer attempted to deploy the taser again which once again was ineffective.
During the second attack, the suspect grabbed a large rock and struck the officer on the side of the head causing the officer to fall to his back. The officer then used a single shot to stop the attack.

Officers rendered aid to the suspect before he was transported by helicopter to a trauma hospital for medical treatment. However, several days later the suspect subsequently succumbed due to his injury.

The driver was identified as 32-year-old Donovan Jelicich, a resident of Cottonwood.

The officer, a 6 year veteran, sustained multiple injuries to his head and eye and was transported by ambulance to the Verde Valley Medical Center and has since been released. Officer continues with follow-up care as a result of his injuries.

The Seattle police department released body camera of an Officer Involved Shooting that occurred on April 17, 2024.
On Wednesday on April 17, 2024 at 3:14 p.m., the Washington State Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force conducted an arrest operation on a child predator suspect.
The Seattle Police Department task force officers were waiting to arrest the 67-year-old man when he arrived at a DoubleTree Suites Hotel room in Tukwila where he
thought he was meeting two young girls 7 and 11 years old.

One of the officers was grazed by a bullet in their leg during the shootout with the man.
The suspect died at the scene.

The Clark County Sheriff’s Officer released 4 body camera of a deputy-involved in a fatal shooting that occurred on April 13th, 2024.

According police, At 10:10 am., 2024 Clark County Sheriff’s Deputy Cordero spotted a suspicious vehicle near the regal Cinema 99 in the Hazel Dell neighborhood, Vancouver, Washington.
Deputy Cordero observed 2 people, a male (described as bald) and a female (described as having reddish hair) walking away from the vehicle. Deputy Cordero attempted to speak with them but they continue leaving the area.

At 10:38 a.m. Deputies responded to a reported carjacking in Hazel Dell (9200 Block of NE 15th Avenue).
The victim reported that two suspects, a male described as bald and a female, described as having reddish-blonde hair, had stolen his van. The witness also stated that the male suspect was armed with a handgun. The suspects reportedly left the scene in the stolen van.

At 10:55 a.m., Deputies were dispatched to a suspicious circumstance near Goodwill in Salmon Creek, located at 14300 North East 20th Avenue. Witnesses stated that a male and female had attempted to carjack a vehicle with a person inside.
Descriptions of the suspects near Goodwill matched the descriptions of the armed suspects in the Hazel Dell carjacking.
Deputies responded to the scene and set up a containment area to search for the suspects. Deputies located the stolen van from the Hazel Dell carjacking behind the American Legion at 14011 North East 20th Avenue. While discussing their next steps, a bald male walked out from behind a shipping container in the parking lot.

Deputies observed the male suspect later identified as 41-year-old Benjamin Steven Woods of Prineville, Oregon enter the American Legion.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Office has released body camera and surveillance video footage of a Deputy-Involved Shooting that took place on March 19, 2024.

At 9:18 p.m., deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Office Lakewood Station responded to a welfare call at a residence in the 15900 block of Indiana Avenue, Paramount. The victim reported that her ex-boyfriend, identified as 40-year-old Jose Acosta from the city of Bellflower, had violated a protective order by showing up at her residence and demanding entry.

Deputies observed Acosta driving near the victim's residence in an orange Pontiac vehicle. They followed him until he stopped in the number two lane of eastbound Artesia Boulevard at Downey Avenue in the city of Long Beach.

As deputies prepared to conduct a traffic stop, Acosta suddenly put his vehicle in reverse, accelerating backward and crashing into the front end of the deputy's patrol vehicle. The collision was severe, rendering both vehicles inoperable.

Upon exiting his vehicle, Acosta was observed by deputies wielding a knife in his right hand. Despite orders to drop the weapon, he refused and charged toward the deputies, prompting a deputy-involved shooting.

Acosta sustained gunshot wounds to the torso and was provided aid by deputies until the arrival of Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A knife with an approximate three-inch blade was recovered at the scene. One deputy sustained non-life-threatening injuries during the collision and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. No other individuals were injured in the incident.

The Gilbert Police Department released body camera, phone recording footage, picture, 911 calls and details about an officer-involved shooting that occurred in Gilbert on Sunday, January 21, 2024.

Gilbert, Arizona --- On Sunday, January 21, the Gilbert Police Department’s dispatch center received two related emergency calls. The first call came in at 1:59 PM, when the caller reported he had just concluded a concerning phone call with a male coworker.

The caller reported to dispatchers that his coworker, identified as 40-year-old Brett Shanahan, had recently learned he was going to be going through a divorce and told him he was on his way to the home of his wife’s divorce attorney in Gilbert.

The caller stated Shanahan was armed and wearing a ballistic vest. Before the call concluded, the caller expressed concerns for both public and officer safety due to concerning statements about “taking care of business”.

Brett Joseph Shanahan joined the United States Marine Corps in 2008 and spent over 11-years active duty. During his time in service, he deployed twice to Afghanistan with Operation Enduring Freedom as a motor transport operator. Upon return from his deployments, Brett was hand picked to be the driver for the base General, Colonel and Sargeant major. He then spent 3-years overseas in Okinawa, Japan where he was a Chief of Operations in which he led over 80 Marines. He ended his service as a Drill Instructor on Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, where he trained over 2,000 recruits into Marines.

At 2:07 PM, a second 9-1-1 call came in where the caller reported that a family friend had just shown up to their home near the 800 block of West Sun Coast Drive in Gilbert. The caller individual identified the individual as Brett Shanahan and stated Shanahan was looking for her husband, an attorney representing Shanahan’s wife in divorce proceedings. Sonora, CA --- On February 27th, 2024 at around 11:05 p.m., Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Deputy Alex Zanini conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of Merrel road and Harper road.

The vehicle was a white pickup truck with multiple vehicle code violations,
including an obscured license plate and a non-fonctioning left brake light.

The driver did not have any form of legal identification. The passenger also said he did not have an ID. The driver gave deputy Zanini a name, but a check of that name resulted in an expired California driver's license.
After the incident, it was determined the driver gave deputy Zanini an alias and the driver did not have a California driver's license.

Using the driver's name, deputy Zanini ran a computer check on local database which provided a photo, but the match was inconclusive.

Deputy Zanini also asked dispatch to pull a Calphoto to try to identify him.
Calphoto is a DWM database utilised by law enforcement.

With the driver identity unconfirmed, deputy Zanini asked the driver to exit the vehicle.
The driver consented to a search, and the deputy Zanini found a vial in his pocket containing a white residue.

Deputy Zanini had developed probable cause to search the pickup truck for controlled substance and forms of identification to verify the driver identity.
The driver consented to the search of the pickup truck.

In post-incident deputy Zanini statement, deputy Zanini said that he believed that the nearest backup to his location was approximately twenty minutes away.
For deputy safety, he wanted to secure the passenger later identified as 42-year-old Shawn Karr before conducting a search of the pickup truck.

GPS data obtained after the incident showed the nerest backup for deputy Zanini was approximately 25 miles away, near East Sonora.
On the winding rural roads, it takes approximately 40 minutes to cover that distance at normal driving speed..

Sparks, Washoe County, Nevada --- On March 29th, 2024, at approximately 1:39 p.m. a Sparks police officer initiated a traffic stop in the 1700 block of Greenbrae drive on a Ford Expedition with no license plates.
As the officer approached the driver's side window of the vehicle, the driver produced a handgun and shot through the window at the officer, striking our officer in the shoulder.
The vehicle then fled the scene and crashed into another vehicle at the intersection of Greenbrae and Rock boulevard.
At that time, the driver abandoned the vehicle and fled that scene on foot. Officers in dispatch received information of a subject jumping fences in the 1400 blocks of Greenbrae drive And prospect avenue officers from Spark's police, Reno Police and the Washoe county sheriff's office began checking the area on foot.

Further information reported that the subject had entered an occupied residence and was driven out of the residence by that resident.

Officers checked another address that the subject was reported to have entered.
An elderly female resident, answered the door and dropped to the floor. At which time the subject began firing at officers from inside the home, striking a Washoe county deputy.
The deputy and the female were pulled from the scene by other officers while they were taking fire.
At the same time, a second Sparks police officer was struck by gunfire from the subject, and he was able to self evacuate from the area.

The subject involved in this incident exited that residence and entered a different home occupied by a different elderly female resident.

The subject entered the backyard of that resident and began firing towards officers in the area.

Burlington, Vermont --- On Tuesday, January 23rd, 2024, around 3:38 p.m., the Burlington Police Department received a call from an individual stating that a male had threatened them with what appeared to be a pistol, claiming he would shoot them while pointing it at them and another individual.

Responding to the call, two officers encountered an individual matching the suspect's description.

During their interaction with the suspect, an officer asked the suspect if they had any weapons on him. In response, the suspect swiftly reached into his pocket and retrieved an object resembling a firearm.

Reacting to the perceived threat, both officers drew their firearms and issued commands for the suspect to drop the weapon. The suspect complied, dropping the firearm, which was later determined to be a pepper ball gun resembling a firearm.
Subsequently, the suspect was handcuffed without resistance and detained.

Police did not say if he was charged with anything.

Bakersfield, CA --- On March 10, 2024, Kern County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a domestic violence report in the 200 block of East Beardsley Avenue, Bakersfield.

The caller, the suspect's wife, reported domestic abuse and mentioned that her husband was armed with both a gun and an axe before she sought refuge across the street.

Deputies arrived at the scene around 1:13 p.m. Dispatchers managed to contact the victim by 1:20 p.m.

Upon arrival, deputies found the suspect in the front yard of his residence, holding a rifle and an axe. Despite repeated announcements over the public address system for over 20 minutes, urging the suspect to drop his weapons, he did not comply. The Mobile Evaluation Team was dispatched but did not arrive before the officer-involved shooting took place. Additionally, a call was made for the SWAT team, including the crisis negotiation team, but the shooting occurred during their response.

Deputies provided medical aid until further medical personnel arrived on scene.

The footage available is from a body camera that provided the clearest view of the scene, not from the deputy involved in the shooting. Deputy Nicholas Rocha, positioned tactically in a nearby residence, was the one who fired the shot, but his body camera's view was obstructed.

The suspect, Cole Jackson Hughes, aged 53, received medical attention at the scene and was then transported to the hospital for treatment of his injuries. He was arrested for charges including domestic battery, felony resisting, and brandishing a firearm. Unfortunately, Hughes succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased the following day, March 11th.

Hughes’ wife, Lynn Hughes said about the rifle,
“It was an empty pellet gun,”

According to the Houston Police Department and Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, at approximately 8:09 p.m., on March 11, 2024, Houston police officers were assisting a multi-jurisdictional task force surveilling a black SUV.

Officers observed the driver of that vehicle, Roosevelt Jamie Overton, Jr, commit an aggravated
robbery at a liquor store at 26834 North Freeway.
The investigation determined that Overton has been identified as a suspect in more than 20 robbery cases across Harris, Fort Bend, and Montgomery County.

As Overton attempted to leave the scene in the black SUV, officers used their vehicles to block his, preventing him
from driving away.

Overton exited the SUV, and officers gave him commands to show his hands.
Overton fled on foot with a gun in his hand.
Officers pursued him, giving Overton commands to stop and drop his weapon.
He did not comply.

Overton ran into a bayou tributary, still refusing to drop his gun.

Officers from multiple agencies discharged their duty weapons, striking Overton.
Officers provided first aid, but Overton was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The Civilian Office of Police Accountability (COPA) which has the responsibility to review every police shooting involving Chicago Police officers, released body camera, surveillance video, 911 call, citizen cell phone recording of a recent fatal officer-involved shooting near 3800 W. Ferdinand Street on March 21, 2024.

According to the Civilian Office of Police Accountability, the Chicago Police Department Preliminary reports indicate that this incident began on March 21, 2024 near 3800 West Ferdinand Street when five Chicago Police officers assigned to an 11th District tactical unit engaged in a traffic stop of Dexter Reed, Jr. for allegedly not wearing a seatbelt.

Upon stopping Reed, multiple officers surrounded his vehicle while giving verbal commands. When Mr. Reed did not comply with these commands, officers pointed their firearms at Reed and ultimately there was an exchange of gunfire which left Reed dead and an officer shot in the forearm. COPA said, Review of video footage and initial reports appears to confirm that Reed fired first, striking the officer and four officers returned fire.

COPA said, Available preliminary evidence also confirms that officers returned fire approximately 96 times over a period of 41 seconds, including after Reed exited his vehicle and fell to the ground. Mr. Reed was struck by gunfire multiple times and was transported to the hospital and later pronounced deceased. A gun was recovered on the front passenger seat of Reed’s vehicle.

According to public records, Reed was arrested in June 2023 on misdemeanor theft charges, accused of stealing a $950 designer shirt from a Saks Fifth Avenue store on the Magnificent Mile in Chicago. In July, he was arrested again on weapons charges, after police and prosecutors said he brought a loaded gun to the WindY City Smokeout festival, despite not having a concealed carry license or valid FOID card.

Police says that on December 23, 2023 at approximately 10:30 PM, Tulsa Police responded to a domestic disturbance near 31 street and in Mingo involving a 29-year-old female suspect Taylor Torres who brandished and fired a firearm while taking hostages inside a residence.
Upon arrival, Officers established a perimeter and attempted to negotiate with Torres. Torres made threats of suicide and harm to others, including the hostages inside the residence police said.
Due to the imminent danger to the hostages, Officers entered the residence.
Once inside the residence, officers could hear an infant crying. The officers determined Torres and the hostages were in the bedroom. After officers breached the bedroom door they determined Torres was in the closet while the 4 hostages, including a one years old and a 7 years old, were next to a bed within the shooting range of Torres.

During the encounter, Torres began a countdown as if preparing to shoot prompting an officer with a shield to placed himself between Torres and the hostages to discharge their weapon. At the exact same time, Torres shot herself in the head, according to police.

The hostages were evacuated from the room and officers attempted to render aid but Taylor Torres was already dead.
No hostages or Officers were injured.

All of the evidence in the case was submitted to the Tulsa County District Attorney's Office. After reviewing the facts of the incident, the District Attorney's Office ruled the shooting by the Officer to be justified.

According to police, on January 16, 2024 at 3.01 p.m., NYPD 73 Precinct patrol officers responded to a 911 call at 1969 Bergen Street, Apartment 2B. This call for assistance was in regards to an assault in progress. This call for help was made by the female occupant of that apartment.This victim informed 911 that she was being physically assaulted by her son. She complained of a head injury. One sergeant and three police officers responded to the scene and immediately identified the perpetrator. He was Melvin Butler, male, 39 years old.
Officers informed Mr. Butler that he was under arrest and asked him to place his hands behind his back. At this time, Butler resists and a violent struggle ensues. At some point, Butler grabs hold of an officer's service weapon and shots are fired.

During the struggle, while Butler Possessed officer Brennan's firearm, officer Acevedo discharged 3 shots, officer Lafaille discharged 3 shots, and Sergeant Groth discharged one shots at Butler.

Ballistics evidence recovered from the scene revealed that Butler discharged 2 shots from officer Brennan's firearm

One officer was shot in the left hand, another officer was shot in the left thigh. Both officers were being treated at KCH and are recovering from their wounds. Butler himself was shot multiple times and he was treated for his injuries.

Butler was arrested and charged with:
Attemped murder in the first degree (police officer),
Assault in the second degree,
Robbery in the third degree,
Criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree,
and related charges.

Melvin Butler, age 39 has six prior arrests in New York City and one prior arrest in North Carolina. He has a history of resisting arrest and of domestic violence.

In addition, in 2004 he was convicted for attempted murder for which he served 15 years in prison.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department newly released dashcam, air unit footage, surveillance camera, picture and audio recording about an officer involved in fatal shooting of 45-year-old Anthony Graziano and her daughter Savannah Malon Graziano 15 years old that occurred on September 27, 2022 during a pursuit.

On September 27th, 2022, an Amber alert out of Fontana was issued for 15 year old Savannah Graziano.

The Amber alert was issued out of concern, she was taken by her father, 45 year old Anthony Graziano, before the Amber alert was issued, Mr. Graziano killed his wife outside of a school in Fontana.
Mr. Graziano also shot at a father and child near the schoo on Monday, September 26th, 2022, at approximately 07:30 am.

San Bernardino county sheriff’s deputies were looking for Savannah after reports that she had been abducted by her father, Anthony Graziano.
After a 911 call from a gas station clerck who reconised Savannah Graziano from an Amber alert picture, deputies located and chased Graziano until Graziano’s truck became disabled. A shootout occurred and both Anthony and Savanna Graziano were fatally shot.

The Flagler County Sheriff's Office released Body Camera of a reckless driver convicted felon arrest for DUI.
On Saturday, March 24, around 7:43 p.m., Flagler County Sheriff's Office Communications received several calls reporting a reckless driver in a green Kia Soul.

The first witness observed the driver at the drive-through of McDonald's on Old Kings Road, noting erratic behavior and signs of convulsions. The driver left the parking lot, swerving onto Palm Coast Parkway.

A second caller described a "neon car" driving recklessly in parking lots and running all over curbs driven by a white male covered in tattoos.

With assistance from the Real-Time Crime Center, deputies located the vehicle speeding south on Kingswood Drive before turning into the Microtel Inn.

During a traffic stop, deputies encountered Nicholas LeBlanc, 40, of Palm Coast, a convicted felon. LeBlanc denied drug use but exhibited unusual behavior and failed field sobriety tests. He was arrested for Driving Under the Influence.

A search of his vehicle uncovered a prescription pill bottle containing a white powdery substance, identified as fentanyl. LeBlanc faces charges of Possession of Fentanyl alongside DUI and was taken to the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility. He declined further testing and is held on $5,000 bond.

LeBlanc's criminal history in Flagler County dates to 2009, including a one-year prison term in 2015 for Grand Theft and Cocaine Possession, and a three-year sentence in 2021 for Burglary, Methamphetamine Possession, and Felonious Firearm Possession following a reportedly accidental shooting that severely injured a woman. He was released on November 29, 2023.

On January 27th, 2024 The Lathrop Police Department responded to a domestic violence call on Shadywood Avenue in Lathrop California at around 12:25 p.m.

Police says the man, identified as 40-year-old Juan Valdez driving a Nissan Sedan, drove southbound on I-5 from Roth Road until his car stopped working and he pulled over just south of Lathrop Road. After exiting his vehicle, the suspect made an attempt to carjack a vehicle and held onto it while the driver drove away. Then he tried to open the passenger door and an officer Involved Shooting Occurred.

Valdez was later released from the hospital and he's booked into the San Joaquin County Jail and charged with multiple felonies including:
felony carjacking felony,
false imprisonment,
felony evasion,
resisting arrests and
committing a felony while out on release from custody on a prior felony.

The El Paso Police Department released body camera footage from an officer-involved shooting that happened at a car wash in El Paso Texas on March 5, 2024.

Police did not provide much information other than the incident began at around 1:08 a.m. when a supervisor while on active Patrol
approached a vehicle parked at a car wash located on the 5800 block of Donathan. The officer made contact with a male subject identified as Michael Anthony Estrada who was seated in the driver's seat of the vehicle.

The officer tells the man, who is sitting in his car, to get out of his car and to relax. The officer also asks the man to tell him what he had in his hand several times and then asks him to see his hand several more times. At one point, the man, who identified himself as Michael Estrada, said he had a gun.

The man also asked the officer several times, “Do you want to go home tonight?”

The officer is then shown firing his weapon multiple times.

Police said that Patrol supervisor notified shots were fired and requested emergency
backup. Responding units arrived within minutes and took the suspect into custody.
Fire Medical Services declared estra dead at the scene, police said.

The patrol supervisor involved is a 12-year and 11-month veteran police
Sergeant.

The mother of Estrada said the police told her they found a gun in his car.

The Harris County Sheriff's Office released bodycamera of 3 officers which 2 were involved in an officer involved in a fatal shooting that occurred on March 2nd 2024.

According to police, at approximately 9:40 a.m. Harris County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to the 9800 block of Fleming Springs Drive in East Harris County regarding an auto theft investigation. Deputies met with a complainant who directed them to a residence where he had tracked his stolen vehicle. Deputies knocked on the door of the home attempting to contact the residence when they heard a suspect flee on foot. Two deputies located a Hispanic male matching the suspect's description walking in the 1700 block of Sun Point Court and talking on a cell phone as they approached a suspect later identified as Nathanael Isaac Pinon 18 years old. Deputy saw an extended magazine sticking out from the front of Pinon's waistband.
Both deputies verbally commanded Pinon to stop using his cell phone. Pinon faced the deputies and reached for the firearm in his front waistband. The deputies verbally commanded the suspect to stop reaching for his weapon and Pinon did not comply with their commands. Both deputies discharged their Duty weapons striking Pinon multiple times. He was pronounced deceased at the scene by EMS. Deputies recovered a 9mm caliber firearm that contained an extended magazine from Mr Pinon's waistband.

According to LAPD, On February 20, 2024, at around 8:40 p.m., Central Division patrol officers responded to a radio call for an “Assault with a Deadly Weapon” suspect at an apartment in the 400 block of East 5th Street. The caller said that the suspect, later identified as 42-year-old Anthony Franks, threatened his neighbor with a gun.

Once officers arrived at the location, the Person Reporting (PR) informed the officers that Franks pointed a gun at her. During this brief interaction, Franks emerged from the doorway of his apartment with what appeared to be a pistol (later determined to be a Projectile Launcher). Franks pointed and fired the weapon at the officers and the PR, which resulted in an Officer-Involved Shooting.

After a brief standoff, telephone contact was made with Franks and he was taken into custody without further incident. police said.

A weapon (in the appearance of a semi-automatic pistol) capable of firing .50 caliber rubber balls and a jar of .50 caliber rubber balls were recovered at scene. Additionally, a Smith & Wesson 9mm semi-automatic handgun was also recovered from Franks’ apartment.

All items were booked as evidence.

police said no officers or other community members were injured during this incident.

Franks was arrested and booked for assault with a deadly weapon upon a police officer, not
a firearm, as well as for two outstanding felony warrants. On February 23rd 2024 the Los Angeles County District
Attorney's Office filed the following charges against Franks.
One count of assault with a deadly weapon, one count of possession of a firearm by a felon
and one count of unlawful possession of ammunition. Additionally Frank's existing
probation was revoked.

Wilmington, Del.--- Delaware DOJ released body cameras, surveillance videos of a fatal officer involved shooting that occurred last year on March 6, 2023.

According to New Castle County Police, undercover police officer arranged on Instagram to buy two chocolate bars infused with psychedelic mushrooms from Andrew Edelmann, a 22-year old for $50 each. The two agreed to meet in the parking lot of a 7-11 store on Maryland Avenue in Wilmington at approximately 7:30 p.m. on March 6th 2023.

Additionally, officers were aware of the vehicle he would be operating. Officers located Edelmann inside his vehicle, a Hyundai Santa Fe, in the parking lot of the 7-11 convenience store on Maryland Avenue and attempted to stop and detain him pursuant to the active drug investigation. Officers attempted to apprehend Edelmann, however, he ignored their commands. As Edelmann attempted to evade apprehension, he accelerated his vehicle and drove in the direction of officers.

An officer in close proximity to the Santa Fe, discharged their weapon striking both Edelmann and a 21-year-old female passenger Aida Pabon. Edelmann and the female passenger were both transported to Christiana Hospital where Edelmann was pronounced deceased. The 21-year-old female passenger Aida Pabon was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. Pabon later said doctors placed a rod in her left leg where she was shot.
Officers recovered illegal drugs from inside of the vehicle and a loaded assault style rifle from the driver’s side floorboard.

Investigators of The Delaware Department of Justice Division of Civil Rights and Public Trust conclude that the corporal who opened fire reasonably believed that he and his colleagues were in danger of death of being seriously hurt.

investigators wrote. “Corporal Nicholson’s use of deadly force was a justified and reasonable response to the real threat of death or serious physical injury posed to him and his fellow officers by the actions of Edelmann,”
“Any subjective perceptions of harm became objective facts when Edelmann nearly ran over Corporal Nicholson with a Hyundai SUV and struck two police vehicles in a matter of seconds,” they added.

When police arrived, Edelmann’s vehicle was backed into a handicap parking spot. Several police vehicles converged on the scene, but the officer in the truck was unable to entirely block Edelmann’s vehicle, leaving a gap of several feet.

Nicholson, wearing a police uniform, exited the truck with his gun drawn and immediately began shouting commands at Edelmann, standing directly in the path of Edelmann’s vehicle, according to the report. Investigators said Edelmann accelerated his SUV in an apparent attempt to flee.

Nicholson fired eight shots. Edelmann was struck by five rounds, while Pabon was hit in the left knee.

LOS ANGELES, Pacoima --- On February 16, 2024, approximately at 7:50 a.m., officers from the Foothill Division responded to a report of a Restraining Order Violation at a residence in the 13200 block of Paxton Street.

The caller, identified as the Person Reporting (PR), indicated that she had a restraining order against her husband, who was present at the location.

Upon arrival, officers were directed by a witness to a rear house on the property, where they met with the PR who confirmed the presence of the suspect, later identified as 52-year-old Pete Garcia. Despite officers' requests, Garcia refused to exit the location.

After verbal communication attempts failed, officers initiated entry. A physical struggle ensued as they attempted to detain Garcia. During the struggle, Garcia produced a pistol from his waistband and aimed it at the officers. In response, one of the officers deployed a Taser, prompting Garcia to discharge one round from his pistol at the officers, leading to an Officer-Involved Shooting. Fortunately, Garcia was not hit by gunfire and was successfully apprehended without further incident.

Following the incident, Garcia was transported to a local hospital by Fire Department ambulance for treatment of unrelated medical issues. He was subsequently booked and charged with Attempted Murder on a Police Officer and is currently held on $2,080,000 bail.

The firearm possessed by Garcia was identified as a Polymer pistol (Ghost Gun), which was recovered at the scene and submitted as evidence.

One officer involved in the shooting sustained an injury to his left hand during the incident. He was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment and later released. It was determined that the officer's injury was likely caused by a round fired by Garcia, which struck a metal bed frame and caused fragments to impale the officer's hand.

Fortunately, no other members of the community were injured during the altercation.

The caller had a valid restraining
order against Garcia.
He was subsequently arrested and booked
for attempt murder on a peace officer.

On February 21st, 2024, the Los Angeles county district
attorney's office filed the following charges against Garcia.
One count of attempt murder on a peace officer, two counts of assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer, one
count of resisting an executive officer.
One count of Felon with a firearm with an
enhancement.
And one count of possession of a
firearm in violation of a restraining order.

The Bakersfield Police Department released multiple body cameras, pictures and details about an Officer Involved Shooting that occurred on January 18th, 2024.

On January 18th, 2024, at around 2:24 a.m., the Bakersfield Police Department received a ShotSpotter activation for one round fired in the 1300 block of Chester Avenue. Officers were dispatched at 2:25 AM,
and the first officer arrived on scene at 2:28 AM.
Once on scene, officers contacted a male subject in the area.
The subject told officers he heard two shots, and it sounded as if it came
from north of their location.

Officers began checking the area and
located a man in the driver's seat of a white pickup truck parked on the east side of 1301 Chester Avenue.

Officers observed a man later identified as Esmeraldo Martinez Vivanco who was in possession of a scoped rifle.

After observing Vivanco was armed, officers moved away from the truck,creating more distance between them and
Esmeraldo Martinez Vivanco.

Once officers were in positions of
cover, they began communicating about how to safely contact Vivanco.
While officers were formulating a plan, Vivanco began firing his weapon at officers, and the officers returned fire.

Seven officers fired their weapons over
the course of the encounter with Vivanco.

The Bakersfield Polce Deartment bomb
Squad and Unmanned Aircraft Systems Unit and armored vehicles from the Kern County Sheriff's Office were called to the scene to access Vivanco's vehicle safely, no explosive device was found.

The rifle and 24 fired shell casings were located inside of Vivanco's vehicle.

Vivanco sustained fatal injuries and
was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Vivanco had multiple aliases, including
Alejandro Avalos.

No officers or other citizens were
struck by gunfire

At approximately 1:00 am on Saturday, June 24, 2023, near 5th street and Idaho, Boise Police Department was investigating a situation involving individuals and a vehicle involved in what officers believed were gang activity and/or narcotics sales. Officers identified the owner of the vehicle as Mario Garza, 26.
Boise Police officer's observed Garza And 22 years old Payton Wasson next to a vehicle in a parking lot at the corner of 5th street and Idaho street.
Wasson and Garza walked away from the vehicle to a nearby bar.
With Wasson and Garza away, Corporal Holland approach the vehicle and observed and photographed a handgun in plain view under the front passenger seat.

A firearm located in the vehicle of a parolee constitues a parole violation.

Officer observed Wasson and Garza in the bar area of downtown Boise.
Officer note that Wasson is wearing clothing consistent with gang affiliations and is involved in suspected drug deals.

Wasson and Garza Were observed by law enforcement entering the bar.
During this time Garza’s Probation and Parole Officer requested BPD conduct a search of Garza’s vehicle and person.
Officers planned to detain Garza and Wasson when they returned to the vehicle.

After approximately an hour, Wasson and Garza returned to the vehicle accompanied by a woman.
Corporal Holland saw Wasson retrieve property from the vehicle as well as something off the floorboard, which Wasson placed in his waistband.
Wasson and his aquaintences walked toward the corner of 5th street and Idaho street.

At approximately 2:12 am, officers attempted to contact Garza and Wasson but Wasson fled on foot toward the 5th street and pulled out a firearm from his waistband.

Officer observes Wasson threaten bystander with firearm.

When the foot chase initiated, nearby officers on the main street responded to the radio call and ran to 5th street.

On Tuesday, March 12th, 2024, deputies from the Flagler County Sheriff's Office apprehended three individuals for stealing nearly $2,000 worth of merchandise from Bath & Body Works and TJ Maxx.

According to authorities, at around 2:30 p.m. on the aforementioned date, deputies were dispatched to the Palm Coast Landing shopping area following reports of three suspects, wearing surgical masks, shoplifting from the mentioned stores in Palm Coast's Town Center. Upon arrival, Master Deputy Jackson observed two females matching the suspects' descriptions hastily exiting the stores, each carrying sizable shopping bags.

Upon activating his emergency lights, the two suspects, identified as Amanda Wright, 36, and Tiara Gailyard, 29, both residents of Jacksonville, were seen attempting to enter a white Toyota Sedan, driven by Gerald Jenkins, 28, also from Jacksonville. M/D Jackson approached the driver's side and instructed Jenkins to halt the vehicle. However, Jenkins ignored the commands, reversing the vehicle dangerously, nearly striking M/D Jackson and a nearby witness's vehicle. Additionally, the vehicle's license plate was concealed with a surgical mask.

Despite efforts by deputies to deploy StopSticks near Amoco on Highway 100 East at I-95, the vehicle swerved to avoid them, ultimately ending up in a water retention area beside the gas station. All three suspects were promptly apprehended after being extracted from the partially submerged vehicle.

A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed stolen property from the targeted businesses, as well as merchandise and bags from numerous other retailers. Additionally, a metal magnetic device utilized for removing anti-theft devices at retail stores was discovered. The total value of stolen merchandise from the Palm Coast retail stores amounted to just over $1,836, which included 50 candles from Bath & Body Works.
