The Japanese Air Self-Defense Force (JASDF) announces the creation of its new Space Operations Group (SOG).

Commanded by Colonel Kazuki Tamai, the SOG consists of its headquarters (supporting the group commander), the Space Operations Control Squadron (in charge of space command and control) and the Space Operations Squadron (established in 2020) which will fully integrate Space Situational Awareness (SSA).

The Japanese Ministry of Defense/Self-Defense Forces will continue to cooperate with the armed forces of the USA and armed forces of partner nations.
