Monsters is one of the most vulnerable songs I've ever written. I was hesitant to share this part of myself, but perhaps it's a song someone needs to hear, just as I needed to write it. Sex is a tricky thing, convoluted by emotion and lust. It's something we learn to navigate, and typically at a young age where perhaps we don't have a good sense of boundaries or self-worth. Perhaps you said yes when you weren't ready. Perhaps you said no, or nothing at all. Maybe it was an act of self-destruction. Maybe the relationship was complicated. Maybe what happened was black and white, or maybe it was more obscure. Maybe there was blame, or maybe there wasn't-- there doesn't always have to be. Regardless, you get to feel however you feel. This song is how I feel, released from my body and relinquished to my art.
