Power windows for a squarebody were not an option until the later 70s. At this time, GM changed the door structure (and other stuff) to accommodate this change. In this video I use 80-series doors to put 70-series power window motors into my 1973 GMC Jimmy K5 Blazer. This video shows how I wired it without using the factory wiring harness and made it BETTER.

I am trying to put 1981+ C10 doors with power windows and locks on my 1973 K5 Blazer but they don't quite match up. I go over some of the differences that I have encountered in making this swap.

We all love the center console in our K5 Blazers, but the cupholder situation has never been good. You either get stuck with seatbelt receptacles or cupholders barely adequate for a can of soda. Mod your console easily using these stainless cupholders that you can buy off amazon.

I am finally able to get the first frame rail attached to the side of the 2002 frame. This rail should tie in nicely with the rest of the 1972 tube frame that I'm going to build.

The rear suspension is mostly together, so now we need to tackle the front suspension. There are going to be big issues to deal with like the steering rack, motor mounts, and even clearance with the frame rails.

We continue our quest in narrowing the rear suspension from our 2002 Corvette Z06. We have to shorten it 7" to have the same track width as our 1972 C3 corvette.

The C5 corvette is quite a bit wider than the C3 or C2 corvette so its time to chop!
Fiberglass leaf spring is cut. Sway bar is cut. The axleshafts will need to be sent out, however.

Our 1973 GMC Jimmy gets its firewall coated with Tamco's Sublime Green Metallic Pearl. This is a basecoat/clearcoat system that is designed to look like a tri-coat. This makes the paint easier to spray for beginners.

In this video, I take some basic measurements and lay out a plan to fit the C5 chassis under the '72.

The backhoe won our first challenge with our Z06 corvette. How will the backhoe do against the '72?

We open up the two torque boxes on either side of our 1973 GMC Jimmy. This K5 Blazer build is getting interesting. This project has dueling rats' nests on either side. It looks like we'll be doing more rust repair in the near future.

If you've ever wondered how c5 corvettes are made, this video continues the documentation of a deconstruction. The hardtop and rear tub are removed as one.

Have you ever wondered how a Corvette is put together? We continue the tedious de-construction of our C5 by removing the rear frame section.

The 2002 corvette gets its Z06 engine pulled and the front end cut off. We will be using the entire C5 chassis to build a 1972 C3 pro-touring corvette.

The K5 Blazer frame is finally done after a bit of a redo. Was powdercoating better than painting for this build? The leaf springs are restored and bolted on and the axles then attached. Our 1973 Jimmy restomod project is moving along nicely. You can watch the whole thing on our playlist.

Backhoe vs Corvette. Can we use our backhoe to straighten the bent frame on our new Z06?
The wood support worked best when positioned underneath the front suspension cradle.

The 2002 Corvette Z06 gets torn down so we can see how bad the damage is. I am hoping to sell as many parts as I can to offset the cost of this donor Corvette for the 1972.

You saw us lift the Blazer body off the frame in the last episode. Now our Jimmy frame needs to be stripped and prepped for paint. Epoxy primer? Por 15? Powdercoating? What will we do?
Follow our project as we build this Blazer.

After months of searching and bidding on Copart.com, I finally win something in my price range. Neither the bidding or the delivery of the vehicle went as planned.

I have owned this Corvette since 1988. The poor C3 has been sitting on the side of my garage for the last 15 yrs. It is time to give this car the love it deserves. This will be a totally custom frame off restoration.

We decide to lift the body of the squarebody Jimmy off the frame in order to clean and get rid of rust. This K5 Blazer project is getting a little more complicated that I had planned.

This will be a video series of the restoration of a 1973 GMC Jimmy (K5 Blazer). My original plan was to make this truck a daily driver and fix it up as I go along. Isn't it funny how plans can change. This will be a frame off restoration with a slant towards restomod.
The 1973-1975 squarebody Blazers are "full convertibles", meaning the entire roof and sides can be removed. In 1976, Chevrolet changed the design, making it a "half cab". The original 1969-1972 Blazers are also "full convertibles", but not a squarebody.
