The first hatch chicks of 2023 hit the brooder on Crossroads Farm. First hatch was a batch of heritage breeds, mainly delawares with some new hamps. And so it begins....

The days are getting longer and everything is waking up. Green feed for boosting livestock becomes important, but is often scarce. A simple and pretty affordable solution can be fodder trays. Here's the simple way I put together quick ryegrass fodder feeding trays for boosting early poultry breeding down on Crossroads farm.

Things are startingbtomwarm up here on Crossroads Farm. February, March and April are usually warm and dry months in our usual climate pattern. The daylight is starting to grow longer and the chickens are laying well. Sometimes good forage becomes scarce and fodder trays help bridge the growth gap until May when the growing conditions turn lush.

Just wanted to update the progress on the mimosa and bamboo plantation we did earlier in 2022. Running bamboo was planted to establish more high quality fodder along side the mimosa which is also a good quality fodder. Also discuss some perennial pasture (bermuda) establishment strategy. Our midget white breeder turkeys also make an appearance.

Happy New Year. The start of a new year on Crossroads Farm usually means the start of new projects. This new year is no exception. The 2023 blackberry establishment project has arrived. Be sure to follow along as we establish our new blackberry plants in 2023.

We've rotated the turkeys to their final pasture, the Goat Hill paddock. The birds are getting big with their big day artiving soon.

Making use of often overlooked spaces is a great way to maximize yield or get started gardening. A home garden doesn't need large amounts of space and container salad gardening is a great way to start growing food for yor table.
