Here is the next track preview 2 clip (2 of 2) from my upcoming sci-fi concept soundtrack album "The Dystopian Utopia". It is called "A System of Order". As mentioned before, this is technically the first track on the album as it is intended to draw the listener into the sonic world of this false utopia of social order & control. In this highlight moment, the music swells to represent the totality of the system of order in place for all residents within which the main character must remain in sync until his time comes to un-sync.

Note:
This and all future tracks will not be accompanied by any video clips or stock art. I will use screen shots from the composing software I am creating the music in instead. the focus is not on visuals but the music itself.

More is coming so stayed tuned.

Here is the next track from my upcoming sci-fi concept soundtrack album "The Dystopian Utopia". It is called "A System of Order". This is technically the first track on the album as it is intended to draw the listener into the sonic world of this false utopia of social order & control. In this clip, the music is introspective as it represents the central character of the story who intends to escape the system at some point. The music supports his constant assessment of his surroundings, looking for a hole that he can exploit through which to escape. Then the music swells as he is forced to resync with the system as to avoid further suspicion that he is planning to leave it.

Hello everyone! Here is the first track from my upcoming sci-fi concept soundtrack album "The Dystopian Utopian". It is called "Escaping The System". I wanted to dip my toes more into the dark techno / cyberpunk sounds heard in modern movies and games. I used a clip from HBO's series Westworld as a visual reference and inspiration for the track.

More is coming so stayed tuned.

I am currently composing music for my next upcoming re-score concept soundtrack album - "Horror Re-scored 4: Terror Has No Shape". The movie chosen is The Blob (1988 remake). While it does cross over to the Sci-Fi genre from which I will also be selecting various movies to re-score, The Blob is a perfect gateway cross over movie as it is both Horror and Sci-Fi.

This introduces a short motif that represents the emotional aspect of the narrative, something missing in the original score which focused solely on creating spooky atmospheres, suspense, chases and stingers. It has a bitter sweet yearning for something more in life for certain people feeling trapped in the small town as well as a slight ominous and foreboding tone that is hinting at horrible events that are about to unfold.

The music as heard in these clips are not the final mixes but hopefully will provide enough interest for listeners to want more. I will offer more behind the scenes insights at a later date, for now just enjoy the music.

While it does cross over to the Sci-Fi genre from which I will also be selecting various movies to re-score, The Blob is a perfect gateway cross over movie as it is both Horror and Sci-Fi.

This cue showcases the dark and atmospheric sonic soundscape associated with the blob itself. There are gurgling and growling sounds from the lower brass sections & synth sounds, various overlays of atonal string effects and synthetic droning sounds as well as echoing effects from various percussion instruments. There are the usual loud and harsh pounding stingers to punctuate certain dramatic moments as well.

Finally getting around to making original content for my social media profiles. To begin, I made this "trailer" video which basically sums me up in a nutshell - who I am, what I do, why I am doing it, how I do it, etc.

I will be documenting my journey to becoming a music composer at a later age in life. My content will consist not just of boring vlog like entries but also fun skits that are derived from my anecdotal experiences both past and what is still to come, behind the scenes to my compositional and production processes - and shameless self-promotions for all my past and upcoming music.

I hope this will be informative and entertaining at the same time but most importantly, relatable to others who may fear to start a new career later in life, or simply deciding to follow a true passion of theirs.

I will delve into many topics that span the creative side of things to the business and legal side of things. So as I learn, you will learn, in real time essentially.

Short Film: "Bear Hugs"
Filmmaker: Nick McLean
His Company: https://www.motionandlight.com/
About the film: https://www.christchurchnz.com/news/n...

Here is my submission to the Indie Film Music Contest. The film is by Nick McLean. This is my first ever music composition contest to show off my composing chops to a panel of judges who are also professional film composers currently working in the industry. The finalists will be announced on June 25th and the winners on July 2nd.

It is a drama about adult and child abuse told through the eyes of children's toys, mainly teddy bears. It is heartwarming and bittersweet with an important message to tell.

A little WIP BTS video of the next track to be featured on my upcoming Sci-Fi / Game Music concept soundtrack album entitled "The Erehwon". It is heavily inspired by synthwave and techno.

Just a quick clip from a larger video coming soon about the behind the scenes making of my latest concept soundtrack album, Horror Re-Scored 3. More is coming.

I did it!

I finally started using Digital Performer and along with 2 of my new VSTs sets - Dark Planet & Omnisphere 2. I still have a lot to learn with Digital Performer so this composition (as I add to it) will be my proving ground for learning all the essential functions and features that will help make me a Media Content Music Composer.

This piece is in its initial stage of ideas. It is also only 1 part of a much larger piece that will become more action oriented. The influence will become apparent (James Horner's "Aliens" score) but will concentrate on being a sound design type score in line with Hans Zimmer and Junkie XL. I prefer to be more melodic but have a love hate relationship with sound design scores.

ABOUT THE MUSIC
This track is from my Horror Re-Scored album series. For this project I used the Exorcist 3 to re-score. This cue plays over the scene where the priest is called to the cell where the patient is being held in order to perform an exorcism. While his presence prevents the next murder from occurring - the daughter of the cop - the exorcism itself will be to no avail as the priest will be killed in the cell by the possessed patient.

The musical soundscape for this cue is dominated by a more sound design approach with all the metal percussion thumping and clanging intermittently. The time-clock heartbeat motif is heard on the usual low register muted bell while the lost faith theme makes a subtle appearance, underscoring the cops disbelief and lack of faith that this patient truly is who he says he is. The cue ends with a statement of the fluttery high register synth chorus as heard during the "Committing Another Sin" cue. Instead of underscoring a murder, the fluttering chorus supports the patient's statements regarding how he kills. The cue comes to an abrupt halt with a thud as the cop back-hands the patient across the face.

ABOUT THE MUSIC
This track is from my Horror Re-Scored album series. For this project I used the Exorcist 3 to re-score. This music plays over the scene where the cop suspects the Killer is sending one of his minions to his home. The cop races through the street of Georgetown to his home in hopes of heading off the Killer's minion.

This music is the only an action cue but it is not overly bombastic and keeps in line with the tone of the rest of the score. The investigation motif is the central musical idea around which tons of the evil soundscape interplays with in a "good vs. evil" battle for control.

ABOUT THE MUSIC
This track is from my Horror Re-Scored album series. For this project I used the Exorcist 3 to re-score. This cue plays over the scene where the cop and the head nurse converse over the patient in the isolation cell.

The music plays mostly on the spiritual theme. The haunting male chorus and slow throbbing dissonant bass chords on strings indicates that the patient in the cell is more than who he says he is. He is a tormented and tortured soul calling out for help. The cue ends with the history theme played out on the slightly detuned muted bells.

ABOUT THE MUSIC
This track is from my Horror Re-Scored album series. For this project I used the Exorcist 3 to re-score. This cue plays over the scene that is the only introduction to the Priest who will become the new Exorcist at the end of the film. He is greated by the evil forces of the Killer when his bird dies, the cross falls of the wall with blood dripping from Christ's head and ending with a burst of wind through the window, messing up the room.

The music presents the spiritual theme and the evil soundscape together in a manner that could be described as a first confrontation. Evil is letting good know that it is aware of good's presence and is giving a warning shot to stay away. Beginning with a spiritual and ambient tone before morphing into the metallic and mechanical sounds used to represent the Evil of the film.

ABOUT THE MUSIC
This track is from my Horror Re-Scored album series. For this project I used the Exorcist 3 to re-score. This plays over a scene where the cop and a preist discuss a possible connection of the current murders with a past exorcism. A connection is discovered during the course of the discussion linking the someone who assisted in the exorcism investigation with the first victim.

This music focuses on the investigatory element of the scene. The investigation motif starts off fragmented interwoven with the death bells motif. Cutting through both musical ideas is a single drone with sprinkles of the evil soundscape, indicating that evil's strategy is fragmenting, exhibiting signs of its inability to hold its grasp on the situation. The cue ends with a final strong statement of the investigation by an upper register synth choir to show the clues are finally coming together.

This music sneaks in as a single note drone before erupting into a angry burst of the investigation motif. It is intense and represents the shocking revelation the cop encounters upon seeing the man in the cell for the first time.

ABOUT THE MUSIC
This track is from my Horror Re-Scored album series. For this project I used the Exorcist 3 to re-score. The cop is faced with investigating the death of his best and closest friend. In horror, this murder solidifies what he has been fearing up to this point. The return of a serial killer who he thought was long dead.

The death bells ring again during this moody and atmospheric scene. The high and low register muted bells act as the ticking time clock now. The murders have hit very close to home now the cop wants to catch this killer every so sooner. The thumping drum acts as a heartbeat of the omni-presence of evil, as the cue ends with a crescendo and crash of the evil soundscape of metal percussion ensemble when a message left for the cop is revealed.

ABOUT THE MUSIC
This track is from my Horror Re-Scored album series. For this project I used the Exorcist 3 to re-score. After the Murder of the Priest in the Confessional, the main detective cop works late into the night trying to figure out how the killer did it.

The music exhibits a sense of despondence and disbelief. The cop is in constant thought and apperas to be holding back something with what he is finding with each murder. The bells clang and echo in a very hollow yet muted sound acting in a sort of defeated alert siren. The metalic and thumping percussion signifies that this was the work of evil.

ABOUT THE MUSIC
This track is from my Horror Re-Scored album series. For this project I used The Exorcist 3 to re-score. This accompanies the scene where a priest is murdered in his confessional.

The music builds in tension with an echoing muted lower registered bell, like a thumping heartbeat, as the unseen confessor reveals all the murders they have committed before attacking the priest through the confessional window opening. A flurry of choral voices sound off as evil is about to face off with good. As the Blood spills and a family witnesses this, the music reaches an anguished spiritual melody as the killer walks away in broad daylight. The mechanical soundscape of metal percussion indicates the omni-presence of evil and its methodical and strategic actions.

ABOUT THE MUSIC
This track is from my Horror Re-Scored album series. For this project I used the Exorcist 3 to re-score. Being the Main Titles, all the major thematic material and motifs are introduced as we are shown images of Georgetown at night through the eyes of an unseen entity. This music is strictly dark throughout with a brief moment of melancholy spirituality. This Album is purely dark horror music.

First heard is the history theme on bells indiciating the passing of time and the fading rememberance of past events as shots of Georgetown are shown. Secondly, the loss of faith theme plays as shots of the church and interiors are presented. Thirdly, the haunting soundscape of mechanical action with metalics, hissing and choral chanting indicate the omni-presence of evil even in a place of worship. Then an interplay of a fourth theme, the spiritual angelic theme, with the history theme on bells indicates that the power of god is also omni-presence and will protect the troubled and the good. The last muscial idea before the fall down the infamous staircase is the investigation motif heard on synth chorus.

ABOUT THE MUSIC
This is from my album "Sykosis" which is a mesh of percussive rhythms and a variety of dissonant, ambient sounds and synths to create a unique soundscape that might be considered more sound design than musical.

This music tells the part of the story where an infected AI unit has come back to the manufacturing lab for "Diagnostic Testing" due to serious debilitating malfunctions. During the testing, a piece of Malware is found and is discovered to be very dangerous. It detects the lab techs trying to remove it and essentially activates an system bomb inside the AI unit. They back off and the Malware disables the bomb.

ABOUT THE VIDEO
The music is set to an explosion and ongoing morphing of color, textures, flashes, flickers, dissolves, fades, etc. which is why there is an Epilepsy warning at the beginning of the video. It is a surreal and abstract visual journey inspired by the music as though we are experiencing the diagnostic testing from the A.I.'s perspective. The video was composed to the music when normally it is the other way around.

ABOUT THE MUSIC
This track is from my Horror Re-Scored album series. For this project I re-scored Halloween 4. Being the End Credits, it is a culmination of all the themes and motifs used throughout the album into one great finale.

I opted to not show the actual end credit scroll from the film. Instead, I collaborated with The Creative Cortex to have an original video created that was inspired by the music itself and told a story. As the creation og the video occurred, it became clear that the concept for the non-verbal visual aspect of the video was going to fall short. It was decided that only the first 2.3 of the cue would be used. It builds slowly, luring the listener and viewer into the dark corners of the town before unleashing the mayhem visually and musically. The cue fades out just before it transitions into a more somber and sense of unfinished business.

ABOUT THIS CHANNEL
I am a media content music composer. This channel will focus on my rise from a beginning composer to a professional one. In addition to showcasing my music tracks through marrying it with supporting visuals, there will be behind the scenes to my creative process. I will also discuss the challenges faced along the way as a result of pursuing a career in music at a later stage in my life and review. Also, I will produce an ongoing series where I analyze many of my favorite composers creative approaches, discuss how they influenced my creative endeavors over the years, and why I was drawn to them.

ABOUT MY MUSIC
When between professional gigs, I create "concept" soundtrack albums. These consist primarily of an original, alternate, and complete score to a film (for which I am a fan). The music is tailored specifically for each film and is done in a similar vane as the original score in the film while avoiding the use of any copyrighted material. I bring my own musical voice to each project. For any project that I do use copyrighted material, a mechanical license is acquired as was the case on 2 of my projects.

Other intermittent "concept" soundtrack albums consist of music composed to a narrative either written by me or an adaptation of a short story. These are more experimental fusing industrial and techno styles with sound design.

Presented here are my attempts at showing my music in context so that listeners have a better understanding of what it is I am doing conceptually. By showing select clips from the films featuring the scenes to which my music was composed, the listener gets a new experience musically with the film. For those albums not composed to a film, the tracks previewed here were provided original video content to support the musical soundscape. In a sense, the video was composed to the music.
