When Jesus was arrested in Gethsemane and Peter took to sword in self-defense, there is something to the story that we will miss and completely overlook. And on top of that, when looking at what all the four gospel accounts say about the story, there's an apologetic point that can be drawn from it and be added to the puzzle of evidences.

Skeptics, especially muslim dawahgandists, will try to make Mary as young as possible - and Joseph as old as possible. Why? In order to make their own prophet Muhammad in Islam look better - since muslims own most trusted and early sahih sources says that he, in his mid-fifty's, married his child bride Aisha at the age of 6, and consummated the marriage with her when she was only 9.

So how old was Joseph and Mary, then? There is nothing written in the Bible about their ages. So now what? Well, we can't really know for certain for this reason. But what if we look for some internal evidences in the Bible - and external evidences in 1st century for Judaism and The Roman Empire? Well, then we find some historical facts that indicates that for example Mary, was much more likely in her mid-late teens or early twenties - which was actually the average at that time.
