Looking for shooting stars and fireballs this month.
Mayor Ted Wheeler said, "First, we want to protect the safety of the public. Second, we want to make sure that the city continues to function. Third, we want to protect people's rights to assembly, and to express their opinions." Ted also claimed this "was largely a peaceful event."
Except maybe for the roving mobs of unhinged violent leftists. The assembled leftist leaders did not mention Antifa even once in their press conference. The Proud Boys were mentioned repeatedly.
Commander Wendi Steinbronn, the Crowd Management Incident Commander for the August 17th demonstrations events, claims the Portland police were protecting freedom of speech.
In this video, a federal district court warns jurors to avoid any "unconscious bias" which is beyond their control. This court actually provides jurors with written jury instructions based on the ideological psychobabble of social psychologist Mahzarin Banaji and her "Mind Bug" theory of human consciousness. Banaji has a Master of Arts degree in psychology from Osmania University in Hyderabad, Telangana, India. No, I'm not kidding.

Kevin McCarthy, the weak and cowardly leader of the Republicans in the House of Representatives, brown noses Google CEO Sundar Pichai.
KEVIN MCCARTHY: I know we had a discussion last week. He’s made a commitment to have that discussion that’s long overdue. The concerns that we have about what’s going on with transparency in the power of social media today, there’s a lot of concerns here in the House and in the Senate. You’ve made a commitment one, you wanted to, because we couldn’t have a hearing this week, to talk to members and we appreciate that, to answer some of our questions. And also committed as we come back to have a hearing inside Judiciary so we thank you for that because there’s a lot of questions we want to get answered. And so, if you want to say a few words.
SUNDAR PICHAI: Well, first of all, thank you, Leader McCarthy, for organizing this, and thank you to all of you for taking the time. I appreciate getting a chance to be here. I look forward to explaining what we can do better and have a productive discussion. Thank you.
MCCARTHY: As we look at social media, the two-thirds of all adults get their news from that. Ninety percent of every search goes through Google. I think it’s important to continue these discussions and we appreciate you being here. Thank you, guys.

The judges also share their (alleged) respect for and commitment to this founding principle, which has an impact on everyday American life.
Senator Marco Rubio wants to "remove" firearms from American citizens using a model he learned from Los Angeles. And forget carry permits in Los Angeles. The tiny handful of permits issued there go to politicians and celebutards.

Senator Marco Rubio is pushing a video featuring Oren Cass, who claims that automation doesn't eliminate any workers' jobs. Oren Cass is probably best known for his work on Mitt Romney's failed campaign for president against Barack Obama.
Praised for his visionary work by Politico, Cass claims that, "Automation is just the the process of using technology to make people more productive."
So nobody has lost their job and nobody is going to lose their job. Forget the McKinsey Global Institute estimates of 73 million job losses due to AI driven automation by 2030.
But Rubio's not worried. Nobody has figured out how to automate lying to voters yet.

In the one-party People's Republic of California, Democrats can do just about anything they want to with taxpayer money nowadays. In this video, Assemblywoman Cristina Garcia hosted a Family Fun Movie Night. Notice anything different about how Captain Marvel looks? Like how she seems to have put on 50 or 60 pounds?

Congressman Crenshaw claims that Social Security:
1. Is just an entitlement program
2. Is not a retirement program
3. Is running out of funds
4. Benefits when Congress borrows its funds
He also claims that politicians "who sound the alarm" are not just looking an excuse to take away your benefits. However, although he offers no solutions, he insists we have to do something soon.
