Failing to acknowledge the Palestinian past is tantamount to denying the ongoing Nakba, the massacres, displacement, and ethnic cleansing at the hands of the Israeli occupation. Thereby, undermining the Palestinian's right to self-determination, identity, and collective memory.

The people of Gaza have, for the most part nonviolently, heroically resisted their occupation and oppression for decades. This excellent film documents some of that story. This debut feature film by journalist Abby Martin began while reporting in Palestine, where she was denied entry into Gaza by the Israeli government on the accusation she was a “propagandist.”

So Abby connected with a team of journalists in Gaza to produce the film through the blockaded border.

It is a documentary about the historic Great March Of Return protests, which occurred every week from March 2018 until December 2019, but covers so much more.

March 25, 2024 - On the Gaza Genocide: A Conversation with Norman Finkelstein and Chris Hedges features pre-planned questions to the guests about the current situation in the Gaza Strip of Palestine, along with questions about its history. About half of the time is given to audience questions and dialogue. This event occurs in room 50 of Princeton University's McCosh Hall.

Chris Hedges is a Pulitzer-prize-winning journalist, best-selling author, & activist who has reported out of Gaza and was the Middle East Bureau Chief for the New York Times until he left the paper when told he was not allowed to publicly oppose the US invasion of Iraq. Hedges graduated from Colgate University with a BA in English Literature and received a Master of Divinity (MDiv) from Harvard University. He was awarded an honorary doctorate in 2009 from Starr King School for the Ministry in Berkeley, California.

Dr. Norman Finkelstein is a political scientist, activist, and author of many books on Palestine/Israel, including Gaza: an Inquest into its Martyrdom. As the son of Holocaust survivors, Dr. Finkelstein has become a prominent Jewish advocate for the humanity of all people in the land of Palestine/Israel. Finkelstein graduated from Binghamton University's School for Advanced Studies in the Social Sciences and received his Ph.D. from the Princeton University Politics Department. He has held faculty positions at Brooklyn College, Rutgers University, Hunter College, New York University, and DePaul University.

We wish to promote conversation and awareness around the suffering faced by those under Israel's bombardment and siege on Gaza, and the applicability of the term "genocide." Our event engages in analyzing the politically charged narratives around Gaza, based in fact and Palestinian history, and enhanced by our speakers who both have extensive experiences in US anti-war movements.

Arrested and abused; a look at how thousands of Palestinians are being detained in Israel’s prisons.

During Palestine’s 75 years under Israeli occupation, the arrest and detention of Palestinians has been a very deliberate method of intimidation and control.
There are more than 8,000 Palestinians currently in Israeli custody.

Since the Hamas attack of October 7, the number of Palestinians apprehended has risen sharply, with Israel arresting as many as 70 people a day in the occupied West Bank alone.
They stand accused of crimes as innocuous as sharing a post on social media sympathetic to the Palestine cause or as serious as a violent attack on an Israeli.

Al Jazeera’s senior correspondent Hoda Abdel-Hamid meets with some of these prisoners following their release. They recall tales of abuse and torture, both physical and emotional. She also explores this long-standing and controversial policing strategy and what this means for an already hostile coexistence.

In occupied East Jerusalem Israeli forces have blocked the entrance to the Al-Aqsa mosque compound.
Some worshippers prayed outside. Others who were trying to enter the compound, were beaten by Israeli soldiers at the gate entrance.

The Al-Aqsa compound is the third holiest site for Muslims.
Since October the 7th, Israeli authorities have limited the number of people allowed in.
Many Palestinians in occupied East Jerusalem fear Israeli restrictions will further ignite the conflict.

Al Jazeera's Hamdah Salhut reports from the occupied East Jerusalem.

Hatem Bazian is a Lecturer in Middle Eastern Languages and Cultures at University of California, Berkeley.
