Clip from gig using new GoPro

A clip from yesterday's gig at Hammock Beach Resort. It's the first tune, so I was still making adjustments.

The audio is unedited, but sounds decent. I actually thought it was going to be worse considering the camera was under the speaker. If I can get away with this, it'll save me a lot of post production work.

Paradigm Shift (BLR rehearsal 2007)

Backstory...

One of the senior adult original band's drummer, Terry Brown, is a monster player. He'd come early to the kwoon for rehearsal and mentioned he had learned this tune for the most part and if I'd be interested in learning the guitar just to mess around with it together.

I learned the tune, for the most part. I was still reading about half of it. We'd jam through it a few times before his band practiced. Ton of fun. Then we had the grand idea to have someone try the bass part.

At this point, Jessica had been playing bass for just about a year. Granted, she was a couple years into her acoustic guitar and theory studies. We simplified the part a bit, but not too much.

This was, at the most, our fifth attempt to go through the song. We trimmed it because there was no need to cover ALL the solos. And, Jess and I were reading through most of this.

I know, crazy tune to even try to play. But, it was fun and showed promise. Then, life decided differently...lol. Still, it was good to have captured this for posterity reasons.

King Nothing (remake) - circa 2014

Debut recording from Will Brinkley's studio, Rocky Jax Studio. Will is one of my senior students from the Maestro's Studios days, and has picked up where my studio left off. This is a tribute to Metallica; the band that inspired him to play and study music. Hope you enjoy!

Shredding with Party Train at Rack Em Up...

Hell Yeah!

An original composition I approached in a different way in 2007. Oftentimes, rock tunes are written harmonically or riff first, then the melodies are developed over top of the harmony.

This time most of the piece was written top down from the melody as one would with a classical or jazz composition.

In addition, I was experimenting with a bunch of next level software that made the whole process easier to develop and record. It was exciting and a ton o' fun to create.

Hope you enjoy!

I was listening to a piece, "Dreamland" by Matia Turzo and Jocopo Cicatiello (Divinum), and was drawn into it. As it happen to be, I had my guitar handy, so I started playing over it. The next thing you know...Viola! 😉

Check out some of Divinum's other compositions. I think you'll find them...inspiring!

A piece I wrote for my sister in memory of our parents in 2011...

Since our parents are no longer with us, my sister, Janet, asked me to give her away at her wedding. In addition, she asked if I would write something for the dance of the father and bride, which I would dance with her in place of our father. I was honored.

She asked if the music could represent each of our parents. So, here's a little bit from the old country for our father, and a taste of the music our mother enjoyed from this country. I felt it to be appropriate to title this "Kotsirilos", the original spelling of our last name in Greek.

We hope you enjoy this...

I humbly...and I mean HUMBLY share my arrangement of my favorite Ozzy Osbourne song, "Diary of a Madman". The song really demonstrates the pure genius that Randy Rhoads was tapping into. What would have followed?!?!

Hendrix Chord (acapella) - E7#9 (E G# B D Fx)
Sop ----- Fx4
Alto ------ D4
Tenor --- G#3
Baritone - E3
Bass ----- E2

B note omitted.

Toys in the Attic (one off)

Been putting a lot of time into this new guitar. It's exceeded my expectations. Put it this way...the guitar handles everything I throw at it to the point I'm not thinking about the guitar and all my energies are
allocated to the creative process.

I'm using a bass patch I built on the Roland GR-55. The response of the piezo pickups have performed above my expectations. Unless a patch has a slow attack, there's been no latency that I've noticed and little to no false triggering. It is so wonderful to finally have such a great next generation tool when it comes to midi guitar and nylon strings.

It's a coupler that really allows a guitarist to extend their musicianship far, far beyond what one could hope to do with a standard guitar. Hey...why should keyboard players get to play with all the cool toys? If you could hope that your instrument might give you the freedom and depth comparable to a keyboard synth...this is it.

It's a great time to be a guitarist with a broad imagination.

In closing, I'm tickled stupid how incredible and beyond my hopes this instrument performs. Next generation...and lovin' it!
