I’m still learning to draw with colored pencils after years of grayscale. I’m probably over-compensating by over-saturating the reference photos, but it’s a fun way to learn to create vibrant color. As for the content: I thought it was a great photo, and say whatever you will about this region of the world, I will always be compelled by a story of an underdog with a slingshot taking on six cubits and a span…

This one was done for a friend who not only commissioned me for a piece last year, but has graciously welcomed me into her and her fiancé’s home while I save some coins and plan my escape from city life. The commission piece last year was of the character David Rose from the show “Schitt’s Creek” (you’ll see that framed drawing appear a couple times in this video). I may never be a resident artist anywhere, but this companion piece of David Rose’s sister - Alexis Rose - was done as a thank-you to my friends for allowing me to be an “artist in their residence”. The song is by the actress who plays Alexis (Annie Murphy), and is linked down below…

If you ever happen to have read “Industrial Society and Its Future”, you may have become Ted-pilled. He appears to have nailed the psychology of what he generally referred to as Leftism, and he describes how once they are in control of Big Tech, it is unlikely that they will ever relinquish it willingly. Should that play out, we will be under the boot of The Technocracy, and while the System is apparently careening in that direction lately, the only question is if it isn’t too late yet…

This is a re-edit of my very first video, now that I learned a little more about the software I was using. The subject of this colour pencil drawing is Tulsi Gabbard, whom I simply find to be an interesting character in the show.

I drew this using Prismacolor's Col-Erase pencils on Canson's XL Recycled Bristol paper. Recorded with iPhone SE (the old one) and IPEVO's VZ-R document camera. Video made with Davinci Resolve.

Jim

The subject of this colour pencil drawing is Tulsi Gabbard, whom I simply find to be an interesting character in the show. I added a few filters and effects to the original photo to get it a bit further away from my typical photorealism, and to get experience blending the red/pink/orange and the blue/purple hues. I also had fun learning some video-editing basics. Hopefully I'll improve at it, but this was really a test of the process, from recording to editing to uploading.
