New Lancet Study: Early COVID Treatment Prevented Clinical Deterioration
In this study from Lancet the researchers show a combination of drugs when started within 48 hours of mild COVID infection the likelihood of clinical deterioration is reduced significantly. Researchers write in their interpretation:
Interpretation
Early treatment with these combinations among outpatients diagnosed with COVID-19 was associated with lower likelihood of clinical deterioration, and with significant and rapid reduction in the viral load and serum cytokines, and with lower burden of PASC symptoms. When started very soon after symptom onset, these repurposed drugs have high potential to prevent clinical deterioration and death in vaccinated and unvaccinated COVID-19 patients.

Spike S1 Persists Up To 245 Days in Vaccinated Individuals - New Study (Preprint)
The following study is a preprint by Dr. Bruce Patterson and his team. In this small study Dr. Patterson et. al find that the individuals suffering from long COVID like symptoms after vaccination have persistent spike protein S1, S2, and even a mutant S1 in their non-classical and intermediate (CD16+) monocytes. These monocytes have an affinity to bind with the blood vessel endothelium. Hence, vascular damage/inflammation and clotting will ensue.
Management approach they offer is CCR5 antagonists (like Maraviroc) and Statins to reduce the binding of CD16+ monocytes to endothelium.

Vijay's Brief Biography
Vijay K. Yadav (born 1977) is an American biologist and biogerontologist. He is currently a faculty at the Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons at Columbia University. Overarching theme of Dr. Yadav’s laboratory is to investigate how (semi)essential nutrients regulate whole-body homeostasis, and how this process gets dysregulated during aging to identify novel avenue to treat diseases of aging. His research in the last two decades has shown that self-imposed domestication in humans has led to an imbalance in nutrient-genetic interactions leading to increased incidence of diseases. Dr. Yadav is best known for his research on evolutionarily conserved mechanisms of aging, in particular on how nutrients such as vitamin B12 and taurine regulate aging.

Oreo Cookies Reduce LDL More Than Statins
In a recent study researchers found that some individuals are lean mass hyper-responders (LMHR). In these individuals ketogenic diet increases LDL levels, and taking carbs reduces LDL more than statins. Let's review this phenomenon with Dave Feldman - the person who discovered this phenotype and explore various studies that their team have conducted.
Dave's Bio:
Dave Feldman is a software and platform engineer, an entrepreneur, and founder of the Citizen Science Foundation. His life took a radical turn on seeing his cholesterol skyrocket after adopting a ketogenic diet and became obsessed with understanding why this is common with those who are likewise leaner and more metabolically healthy. On researching lipidology, he found the system the human body utilizes to manage cholesterol in the blood closely resembles a network, much like those he's worked on in engineering. Through a series of self experiments and partnering with formal researchers, he has since published the "Lipid Energy Model" which may explain this phenomenon. In addition to this mechanistic research, he's now spearheading a study out of UCLA that will gather advanced heart scans (CCTA) on participants with a likewise high LDL cholesterol and whether it will be associated with high risk for cardiovascular disease.

Treatment Resistant Depression? This Study Provides an Answer
In this study from the United Kingdom the researchers demonstrate that the treatment resistant depression patients responded well to the transcranial magnetic stimulation. The improvement in 20% of the patients were up to six months and in another 20% complete remission was achieved. Let's review this study together.

In this amazing study the Dutch researchers used muscle biopsies in the long COVID patients suffering from post-exertional malaise. They found that the muscle phenotype had changed resulting in lower excercise capacity. They also found mitochondrial function issues, and local amyloid accumulation. Macrophages and CD3+ T cells were also infiltrated in the muscle tissues. Let's review.
