Watch as totality arrives in Gatesville, Texas, April 8, 2024. 1:38pm

Making fire from yucca fibers harvested from my yard.

This paperweight was around 100 years old when my grandmother gave it to me decades ago. Today it found a new use: firemaking!
So if you are ever lost in the wilderness, with a glass paperweight, you don't need to freeze to death as long as there's sunlight.

I know why drivers don't see motorcycles, and it's no one's fault. It's just the nature of things-- but can it be solved? I hope so. Putting the problem into words may be the first step.

Yes, Baltimore is infested. Maybe not the way you thought, though.
Also, an evil loser disrupts a garlic festival in California, murdering people and joining them in death. Good riddance to him. He wasn't fit to lick the soles of his victims' shoes.

Is "public" schooling the best way to spread education? Or, is it spreading something less desirable?
My appreciation for education explains my opposition to schooling.

Right and wrong and understanding the difference between the two, without relying on any questionable authority or personal opinions.

All my fire-making videos in one place, from bow/drill, to having my daughter make fire.

A shorter version of the "Bubble Theory of Personal Property Rights". The full version is also available on my channel.

Which do you choose? Could a 3rd grader be smarter than you?

Photos and video of the 2017 partial solar eclipse. (Partial from my location, anyway.)
The videos are of the sun's reflection in a puddle in my yard.
The reflections of the solar crescent were made by reflecting the sun onto various surfaces (including the stop sign).
The crescent sunbeams were made from the shadow of a canna leaf and a colander onto a sidewalk, and the shadows of the sun shining through a stand of cannas on my patio.
The good photos of the eclipse in the sky were made by my mother at her house several blocks away.

How many people has this cop robbed at gunpoint ("fined") for doing the exact same thing he does here... rolling through a stop sign?

To make fire with flint and steel, you need to have something which will catch the sparks. Here's how to make char cloth that will work better than just about anything else for that purpose.
And, as a bonus, I show you how to prepare tinder to take you from a glowing bit of char cloth (or a coal from using the bow/drill) to flames.

The right to own and to carry guns is a basic human right that can't be taken away by anyone or by any government. But what if you don't like that fact?

I was watching baby woodchucks play when some other movement caught my eye. I looked closer and saw it was a fawn.

This is using a firesteel from Firesteel.com. It is so easy my 5 year old daughter can make a fire this way in seconds. You can use natural materials instead of dryer lint, too, of course.

Just a few of the reasons why cops are not your friends, and why liberty lovers don't generally support them.
This video seems to have struck a chord. If cops were smart they'd look in the mirror and ask themselves what they could do to change. If they are stupid they'll point the finger elsewhere.

A brief look at the all-too-common statist retort against liberty.
Be sure and check out all my other "Basics of Liberty" videos. I have one on the Covenant of Unanimous Consent, one on understanding Right and Wrong, one on the "bubble" of personal property rights, one on "taxation", and one on the Zero Aggression Principle.

Starting a fire using a magnifying glass to light char cloth. Yeah, I should have put the char inside a bundle of tinder first. Funny how the presence of the camera sidetracks presence of mind. At least you get to see me humorously burn my fingers this way.

Using a lens to start a fire. Using only tinder and no char of any kind.

Just a quick demonstration of starting a fire with flint and steel.

The char cloth must be 100% cotton (some that claims to be, doesn't seem to be). Terry cloth towels work well, but some have some additive that makes them get a "crispy" coating when charred that doesn't catch sparks.

Just a short demonstration of making a fire by "rubbing two sticks together"- the easy way. First time I have made fire in months, so I was a bit rusty. Sorry about the hat brim. I need Bear Grylls' camera crew; it's a little distracting trying to keep everything in the camera's view.
