✩✩✩✩✩ EP'S TWENTIETH NINETH MOVIE! ✩✩✩✩✩
PLOT: Jess Wade, an outlaw looking for redemption, has to prove his innocence when his former gang steals a prized victory cannon from Mexico and blame the deed on him.
✩✩
TRIVIA:
- Shot on location at Apacheland Movie Ranch and Old Tucson Studios in Arizona.
- Working titles for the film included "Jack Valentine", "Johnny Hang", and "Come Hell or Come Sundown".
- Only movie in which Elvis wore a beard.
- Presley's only film in which he did not sing on-screen; the film featured no songs at all other than the main title theme, which is played over the opening credits.
- Final film for director Charles Marquis Warren, who also produced and wrote it.
- Only Presley film distributed by National General Pictures.
- The role of Jess Wade was originally offered to Clint Eastwood, who turned it down.
- Several explicit nudity and violence scenes were cut from the final film, toned down or removed from the script prior to shooting.
- Although successful, the film wasn't received as well as Presley's previous films; fans were put off by the lack of songs, and critics were generally unimpressed with it as a whole.
✩✩✩✩✩ Released March 13, 1969 ✩✩✩✩✩

✩✩✩✩✩ EP'S TWENTIETH SEVENTH MOVIE! ✩✩✩✩✩
PLOT: Stock-car racer Steve Grayson falls in love with an IRS agent who investigates his financial problems.
✩✩
TRIVIA:
- Originally planned as a film to star Sonny & Cher.
- Petula Clark and Annette Funicello were offered the lead female role, but both turned it down.
- The film stars Nancy Sinatra in her last film role.
- Scenes were shot at the Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, North Carolina.
- The film features guest appearances by several of the top NASCAR drivers of the day including Richard Petty, Buddy Baker, Cale Yarborough, Tiny Lund and more.
- Steve Grayson's generosity portrayed in the film was based loosely on Presley's real-life generosity.
- Although released after "Stay Away, Joe", the film and its soundtrack were made before it.
- This would be the final "formula" musical film of Presley's career; his remaining films would be less musical and more adult in tone.
✩✩✩✩✩ Released June 12, 1968 ✩✩✩✩✩

✩✩✩✩✩ EP'S TWENTIETH SIXTH MOVIE! ✩✩✩✩✩
PLOT: Joe Lightcloud, a famous rodeo rider, returns to the Arizona Indian reservation where he grew up to try his luck with cattle ranching, in partnership with his father.
✩✩
TRIVIA:
- Based on the 1953 satirical farce novel of the same name by Dan Cushman.
- The screenplay was adapted from the failed Broadway musical "Whoop-Up" and retained many of the same plot devices and characters.
- For the first time since "Wild in the Country", neither an LP record nor an extended-play single was planned for a Presley film soundtrack.
- Although released before "Speedway", the film and its soundtrack were made after it.
- The film reached number 65 on the Variety weekly national box office chart in 1968.
✩✩✩✩✩ Released March 8, 1968 ✩✩✩✩✩

✩✩✩✩✩ EP'S TWENTIETH SECOND MOVIE! ✩✩✩✩✩
PLOT: Band singer/race driver Mike McCoy must choose between marrying a beautiful rich girl and driving her father's car in a prestigious race.
✩✩
TRIVIA:
- Titled "California Holiday" in the UK.
- Working titles include "Never Say No, Never Say Yes" and "The Singing Racing Car Driver".
- The film was shot from February 21 to April 7, 1966.
- The racing scenes were shot at Paramount Ranch Raceway.
- The script was written by Theodore Flicker and George Kirgo, who originally pitched the idea of a film based on Presley's life which was vetoed by Colonel Parker.
- Some mentions about Elvis' life and career were kept in the final script.
- The film was #57 on the year-end list of the top-grossing films of 1966.
✩✩✩✩✩ Released October 17, 1966 ✩✩✩✩✩

✩✩✩✩✩ EP'S NINEEENTH MOVIE! ✩✩✩✩✩
PLOT: Johnny Tyronne, American matinee idol, visits a country in the Middle East and is forced to help assassins who want to dethrone the king. To complicate matters, the star falls in love with Shalimar, the monarch's daughter.
✩✩
TRIVIA:
- Released in the United Kingdom as "Harem Holiday".
- shot on the original Cecil B. DeMille set from the film "The King of Kings", with additional footage shot on location at the Iverson Movie Ranch in Chatsworth, Los Angeles.
- Some of the film was based on Rudolph Valentino's 1921 movie "The Sheik".
- Upon hearing about the movie for the first time, Elvis loved the idea of his character as being similar to a sheik; eventually, he grew tired of the film because his character was made to look like a fool.
- Similar to Elvis' misconception of the script, Colonel Tom Parker thought the film was a comedy and suggested introducing a talking camel.
- The film reached #11 on the Variety national weekly box office chart, earned $2 million at the box office, and finished #40 on the year end list of the top-grossing films of 1965.
- It's listed in Golden Raspberry Award founder John Wilson's book "The Official Razzie Movie Guide" as one of The 100 Most Enjoyably Bad Movies Ever Made.
✩✩✩✩✩ Released November 24, 1965 ✩✩✩✩✩

✩✩✩✩✩ EP'S EIGHTEENTH MOVIE! ✩✩✩✩✩
PLOT: A singing rodeo rider gets hired at an expensive all-female dude ranch/beauty spa and falls for a pretty fitness trainer who's under constant threat from a gang who wants her late grandfather's cache of gold that's hidden in a ghost town.
✩✩
TRIVIA:
- Written by Edward Bernds and Elwood Ullman, who had been writers for The Three Stooges, the film was originally titled "Isle of Paradise".
- For the first and only time in a Presley film, the soundtrack had no new material, utilizing album cuts dating back as early as 1960; some of these tracks were overdubbed for the film.
- "(Such an) Easy Question" peaked at #11 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #1 on the Billboard Easy Listening chart in July 1965.
- The only Elvis film released by Allied Artists Pictures, it saved the studio from financial collapse and bankruptcy.
- Presley won a 1966 Golden Laurel Award as Best Male Actor in a Musical Film for his role; it was the only acting award that he received during his film career.
- The film made $5 million at the box office.
✩✩✩✩✩ Released June 30, 1965 ✩✩✩✩✩

✩✩✩✩✩ EP'S SEVENTEENTH MOVIE! ✩✩✩✩✩
PLOT: A Chicago mobster hires a rock'n'roll singer and his band to keep an eye on his daughter during Spring Break in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
✩✩
TRIVIA:
- Filming began on June 22, 1964, and finished in late July.
- Even though the film is set in Fort Lauderdale, Presley did not film any scenes in the city; primary shooting was done at the MGM studios, and the beach scenes were filmed in Southern California; only second unit filming was done in Fort Lauderdale.
- Alternate titles considered were "The Only Way to Love" and "Girl Crazy".
- The movie won a fourth place prize Laurel Award in the category Top Musical of 1965.
- It featured the song "Puppet on a String", which reached #14 on the Billboard Hot 100, #3 on the Adult Contemporary chart and in Canada, and was certified Gold by the RIAA.
✩✩✩✩✩ Released April 7, 1965 ✩✩✩✩✩

✩✩✩✩✩ EP'S FIFTEENTH MOVIE! ✩✩✩✩✩
PLOT: Talented race car driver Lucky Jackson wants to make enough money in Las Vegas to get a new car so he can win the Grand Prix. When he meets sexy swim instructor Rusty, he considers staying there longer. After Lucky loses his winnings at the hotel, he is forced to stay in Las Vegas to earn back his money, but now he also wants to win Rusty's heart.
✩✩
TRIVIA:
- In Great Britain, both the film and its soundtrack were sold as "Love in Las Vegas", since there was another, different film called "Viva Las Vegas" that was being shown in British cinemas at the same time that Presley's was released;
- The chemistry between the two stars was genuine during filming, and Presley and Ann-Margret began an affair that received considerable attention from film and music gossip columnists;
- The filming reportedly produced unusually heated exchanges between the director George Sidney, and Presley's manager, Colonel Parker, who ended up not credited as a "Technical Advisor" in the film's credits;
- The arguments reportedly concerned the amount of time and effort allotted to the song and dance numbers that featured Ann-Margret, ostensibly on the orders of the director;
- Because the film went over budget, Parker would slash budgets for all remaining films in Presley's career;
- Little Church of the West, the oldest wedding chapel in Las Vegas, is the location used in the closing scene;
- The scene where Presley sings "Viva Las Vegas" is performed in one single unedited shot, the only known example of such a technique in Presley's film career;
- For his role, Elvis Presley received a third place prize 1965 Laurel Award for Best Male Performance in a Musical Film.
✩✩✩✩✩ Released May 20, 1964 ✩✩✩✩✩

✩✩✩✩✩ EP'S FOURTEENTH MOVIE! ✩✩✩✩✩
PLOT: Lieutenant Josh Morgan is sent by the military to mediate a land deal with his distant cousins in the mountains. He faces resistance from the men in the house, but the women are crazy about him.
✩✩
TRIVIA:
- While set in the Great Smoky Mountains, the film was shot in the Los Angeles area, both on set at MGM Studios and outdoors in the San Bernardino Mountains east of LA;
- Some filming took place in Big Bear Lake;
- Screenwriters Gene Nelson and Gerald Drayson Adams were nominated for the Writers Guild of America Award in the category of Best Written American Musical (won by Mary Poppins);
- The song "Smokey Mountain Boy" was deleted from the 1997 VHS release;
- The song "Kissin' Cousins", which was performed as the movie's finale, reached #12 on the Billboard Hot 100 and was certified Gold by the RIAA;
- Elvis was profoundly displeased with the blonde wig he had to wear to play his cousin, so one day all the crew and Colonel Parker wore blonde wigs on the set.
✩✩✩✩✩ Released March 6, 1964 ✩✩✩✩✩

✩✩✩✩✩ EP'S TWELFTH MOVIE! ✩✩✩✩✩
PLOT: Mike and Danny go to the World's Fair in Seattle after their crop duster biplane is seized to cover gambling debts. Mike ends up looking after a 7 y.o. girl and meeting a cute nurse.
✩✩
TRIVIA:
- filmed in Seattle, Washington, site of the Century 21 Exposition;
- The governor of Washington at the time, Albert Rosellini, suggested the setting to Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer executives.
- Elvis sings "I'm Falling in Love Tonight" live while at the Space Needle;
- Kurt Russell's film debut (a small uncredited role as the boy who kicks Elvis in the shins);
- The film made $2.25 million at the box office.
✩✩✩✩✩ Released April 3, 1963 ✩✩✩✩✩
