'Northwoods' is a ballad about life in the Great Lakes region.

LYRICS:
Well it's raw beef for breakfast and flapjacks at noon
And a fish fry for dinner we're livin' in the northwoods

We're wanderin' in the marshes and hikin' in the pines
Lookin' for deer beds and what we may find

There's a ten-point I spotted a real ole swamp buck
And he's shifty and he's crafty and he's just got better luck

Way up by the Great Lakes along the Dells
Winter's from Siberia summer's hotter'n hell
Up in the northwoods that's where I roam
There's no better place to be callin' home

The loggers and farmers they're up at dawn's break
But on the days they aren't workin' you'll find em on the lake

Well granddad's lucky lure it's nearly old as him
But the boys aren't fishin' they'd much rather swim

Way up by the Great Lakes along the Dells
Winter's from Siberia summer's hot as hell
Up in the northwoods that's where I roam
There's no better place to be callin' home

Well the coyote sings as we settle down to sleep
Dog tired from runnin' all day on our feet

LYRICS:
I ride an old paint, I lead an old Dan
I'm goin' to Montana, for to throw the Houlihan
Where they feed in the coulees and they water in the draw
And their tails are all matted, their backs are all raw

Ride around them dogies, ride around them slow
They're fiery and snuffy and rarin' to go

Now old Bill Jones had two daughters and a song
One went to college and the other went wrong
And his wife, she got killed in a poolroom fight
But still he sings from mornin' till night

Ride around them dogies, ride around them slow
They're fiery and snuffy and rarin' to go

When I die, take my saddle from the wall
Place it on my old pony, lead him out of his stall
Tie my bones to the saddle, turn our faces toward the West
We'll both ride the prairie that we love the best

Ride around them dogies, ride around them slow
They're fiery and snuffy and rarin' to go

Goodbye old paint, I'm leavin' Cheyenne
Goodbye old paint, I'm leavin' Cheyenne

Now that's a good pony, he paces when he can
Goodbye little dogies, I'm off to Montan'

Goodbye old paint, I'm leavin' Cheyenne
Goodbye old paint, I'm leavin' Cheyenne

My foot's in the stirrup, got the bridle in my hand
Goodbye sweet Annie, my horses won't stand

Goodbye old paint, I'm leavin' Cheyenne
Goodbye old paint, I'm leavin' Cheyenne
Leavin' Cheyenne, going to Montana
Goodbye old paint, I'm leaving Cheyenne

Ride around old paint, I'm leavin' Cheyenne

Two cowboy songs I've written woven together.

LYRICS:
[Where Cowboys Trod]
As I wandered through the marshlands hiking along the trails
I found an old burial ground and I listened to the tales
And the whispers on the wind of men who fought to ie free
And carve a nation in this land this is what they told me

There's an ancient spirit that haunts this land
Untamed and savage through the ages it spans
Hold your prayers for you won't find God
In the land where cowboys trod

The weak don't trek in this land so strange
Mighty beasts and braves roaming the range
Hold your prayers for you won't find God
In the land where cowboys trod

To tame the land it cannot be done
Survive with grit and a hand on your gun
Hold your prayers for you won't find God
In the land where cowboys trod

It's a land where warrior spirits will thrive
Where braves and soldiers gave their lives
Hold your prayers for you won't find God
In the land where cowboys trod

[Iron and Stone]
In New Mexico all alone
Stands a gunslinger on his own
Hand of iron heart of stone

Steely gaze in his eye
Up above the sun hangs high
Time as ever for men to die

They approach and he stands tall
Shots are fired his enemies fall
He shoots truer than them all

He's an outlaw on the run
Twenty notches on his gun
Forty more before he's done

In New Mexico all alone
Stands a gunslinger on his own
Hand of iron heart of stone

But a hero from afar
A Texas ranger shiny star
With this outlaw he'll make war

Twenty days on the trail
He knows justice must prevail
And for that he will not fail

The chase is o'er one fateful day
At ten paces they make their play
Only one will walk away

In New Mexico all alone
Stands a gunslinger on his own
Cold as iron dead as stone

'Virgin North' is a rockabilly ballad about two young men finding peace of mind by wandering the wilderness along our northern border. This song was co-written by Noah Ryan.

LYRICS:
I get this feelin' 'round every year or so
Got an itch and I just have to go
And live like men what lived before
With an axe and a horse an not much more

Well I ain't got no horse but I got this six-string
And I reckon for me that's all I need to bring
Travel and write about what I become
And I might have me a song when I'm done

Lookin' for virgin lands and untouched pines
White water where the fishin's fine
Virgin land surrounded by pines
A place where I can rest my mind

Just two young drifters from the dairyland
We had us a vessel made by hand
Imbued with a wild and primitive soul
She'd get us anywhere we wanted to go

Followed the call of the wild north
The wood and the land and all its force
Awakened the warrior spirit within
The hunter the trapper and all his friends

Lookin' for virgin lands and untouched pines
White water where the fishin's fine
Virgin land surrounded by pines
A place where I can rest my mind

I looked on the map and saw borders and lines
But when I looked up I saw nothin' but pines
Dewy air and a little chill
And water as clear as'd been run off a still

We found us a place untouched by man
A place where the lakes and marshes span
Flowin' in the breeze like a cottonwood seed
A place where the untamed spirit's freed

Lookin' for virgin lands and untouched pines
White water where the fishin's fine
Virgin land surrounded by pines
A place where I can rest my mind

'Drifting' is a story about a wandering soul set adrift in the sea of life.

LYRICS:
My voice is rough my fingers are sore I've been picking all night long
Wracking my brain and trying my hardest to write a cowboy song
I've got a well of emotions a sea of thoughts yet my paper remains bone dry
And my thoughts are unfocused and drifting away like lonely clouds in the sky

Well the working man's blues have become the young man's grind I've been working myself to the bone
With distractions and vices clouding my mind I ain't sure where I'm goin'
This life is confusing it's always been for lost and wanderin' souls
Always searching and never setting or reaching any goals

And I sit and overthink and I get lost in the drink and my mind starts to slip and fall
And I play my guitar and my spirit wanders far and I know I know nothing at all

The way is shrouded the path is narrow and comfort's one helluva drug
Keeps the light from shinin' me from movin' out of all the holes I've dug
And it's hard to keep movin' when the clay is soft but it's easy to claw your way down
With blood and tears from the sorrows of life soaking in the ground

And I play a lonesome tune alone in a dark room and the music takes me away
Like a wanderin' cowpoke I'm strong as the oak and I'll drift til I find my way

'Demons' is a story about a troubled man who struggles with running away from his problems.

LYRICS:
Well I used to know a young man who didn't know what his name was
And he roamed around this country just because
From everything he said I guess he had a hard past
Never had any intentions of tryin' to last

Well he wanted to die young or so he said
But not before figurin' out everything in his head
Well sometimes I think he was too brilliant for his own good
Puzzlin' and confusin' himself more than he should

And he traveled to the west where he found some rest
His heart was heavy with guilt and sin
And he traveled to the east where he found some peace
But he never had the strength to look within

Searchin' for himself he wore out his boots
He never had the seeds to put down his roots
Well he'd been caged before the walls crumbled down
If he stayed in one place he felt he might drown

He'd search for his answers trudgin' through snow
To the tallest mountain he just had to go
And while he was away he'd forget his guilt and cares
His mind would be as clear as crisp winter air

And he traveled to the west where he found some rest
His heart was heavy with guilt and sin
And he traveled to the east where he found some peace
But he never had the strength to look within

Well I still don't know what it is he found
If he was searchin' at all or just runnin' around
But I wish him well a hearty god-speed
And I hope from these chains he finds himself freed

And he traveled to the west where he found some rest
His heart was heavy with guilt and sin
And he traveled to the east where he found some peace
But he never had the strength to look within

'Railroad Ballad' is exactly what it says it is. Inspired by songs like 'Wreck of the ole 97' and 'Mama Tried', it delivers a classic tale with a classic sound.

LYRICS:
Born on the wrong side of the railroad tracks
I wanted to leave and never come back
But every night there was one thing I knew
At the stroke of twelve that lonesome whistle blew

Packed my bags when it started to get dark
I was just a kid I didn't know where to start
But there was one thing that I had to know
Oh where oh where did that lonesome whistle blow

Ran as fast as my feet would carry me
My heart stopped when I looked up to see
A long black train getting ready to go
Oh bless my soul I heard that lonesome whistle blow

It was then I knew I had to be free
And ride these rails wherever they took me
Follow my dreams let my untamed spirit fly
Felt a fire inside when I heard that whistle cry

It's a railroad song so you must know the rest
I learned too late that I don't know what's best
All you'll find when you ride that train
Is heartache and heartbreak and all kinds of pain

'Stickers on the Guitar' is another boom-chicka-boom style rockabilly tune about a frustrated young man who feels trapped at home.

LYRICS:
Sometimes I wanna have an experience just to I had it
To write a song or show it off or just break habit
But this world has a way of pinnin' ya down
Stickers on the guitar can't pay rent and I can't leave town

Got folks from all walks of life sayin' what I should do
Get a different job find a girl maybe go to school
And I ain't got the words to say why that ain't right for me
But it's about more'n just bein' young and wantin' to be free

Well I've put on less miles than sometimes it feels
But I've put on some miles and they've all been real
And it's left me wonderin' where I should go
But with those miles behind me why don't I know

Well life sure don't wait for you to sort things out
I'm too young to be this sore too old to scream and shout
Everybody tells me that I'm in my prime
But how am I supposed to enjoy it at all if I don't take the time

Well they all say keep movin' but even they're tired
'Cause there ain't no life that's worth livin' if you can't stoke a fire
You've gotta let it burn at least once in a while
Stickers on the guitar don't pay rent but they sure make me smile
