Synopsis: This was deemed as the UFC’s 10th Anniversary Show as the event marked 10 Years (& 9 Days exactly) since the promotion’s 1st Show which began the dawn of MMA in the United States.

The UFC almost didn’t make it to this event, the 10 year milestone or any future success by way of the promotion being bought out 2 years earlier by the collective of Dana White, Lorenzo Fertitta & Frank Fertitta buying the fight league from Bob Meyrowitz & Semaphore Entertainment Group Inc. for $2 Million, changing the sport by setting rules & regulations to make it more legit & saving it (and MMA in general) from becoming a fad of 1990s Nostalgia.

This event also unveiled a Viewer’s Choice for “Best Fighter of the Last Decade” with the choices being between Royce Gracie, Ken Shamrock, Randy Couture, Tank Abbott, Mark Coleman, Pat Miletich, Marco Ruas, Dan Severn, Don Frye or Oleg Taktarov in addition to inducting Gracie & Shamrock as the first 2 members to its Hall of Fame.
