A real time painting of a dark piece of artwork. I did this painting in photoshop and it took around 2 hours. It was in a "brushy" or "painterly" style so you won't see any line work here. It's also not very rendered, because I was on a time constraint and only had 2 hours to make it.
The music used is stated at the beginning of the video.

In this episode we go over how to do smooth shading and blending in procreate while designing some characters. We'll be going over sketching, linework, and then shading, lighting, and color blending. I wanted to do some character sketches and expressions of goblins in procreate because I don't have many art tutorials set IN procreate so I thought this would be fun for artists wanting to design, sketch, and paint their characters all in procreate. With Destiny 2 Beyond Light on the horizon, we've started to prepare for the stasis subclasses. In this preparation, I did another fashion show (this is becoming a weekly thing) in where we were looking for the coldest looking guardian OR the guardian people would LOVE to see wield stasis.
I asked for my submissions via twitter and got over 300 of them again. On stream, me and chat spent over 6 hours going over them all and voting on the winner. THIS is that winner! And I happily painted them wielding the new darkness subclass, stasis.

Many artists prefer to paint in grayscale then add color later. If YOU are having trouble adding color then this video should show you some really cool ways and tools to help you color your digital artwork.
I like to start a lot of my piece in Procreate then open the images i photoshop later SPECIFICALLY for this coloring process. We go over gradient maps, LUTS, adjustment layers, and various blending modes.

With Stasis coming to Destiny 2, I had another community fashion competition for the subject of this piece. I had everyone on twitter submit their "darkest guardian" and on stream, me and chat spent over 6 hours going over more than 300 submissions to find the perfect, evil guardian. I made this piece while my house was being ripped apart to rewire 18 year old network cables and ports, so drawing on the couch, kitchen table, back porch, and in the car on the driveway proved to be EXTREMELY difficult! Not only that, but I got a bit of a sinus infection so I couldn't record a walk through of the making of this piece. I'm sorry!
I also didn't have time to think of a way to have the video format look more normal, so I hope you don't mind this vertical kind of video.

The next season of Destiny 2 is coming, and with it, the pyramid ships! We don't know what Bungie has planned for the fall, but we're pretty sure we'll finally get to see a new enemy! We have only a TINY bit of information regarding what these are or what they look like, so I created this piece for some exploration. I used some previous concept art and illustrations, along with the statue inside the pyramid ship itself, to draw up what I personally would LOVE to see!

I recently got Procreate and I wanted to put it through it's paces because I do a lot of tutorials and wanted a better understanding of other programs out there besides photoshop. With Felwinter's Lie coming out in Destiny 2, Myelin and I wanted to do something special to get ourselves (and fans of the game) ready.

Darth Vader is one of scifi's most iconic villain, so making a digital art piece of him was BOUND to happen sooner or later! This piece goes with my more stylized fan art pieces I've been doing lately. I really tried balancing the textures, values, and color theory throughout the entire piece and I mention as much in my commentary.
In the video I discuss balancing cool colors with warm colors, the difference when rendering hard surfaces and softer textures, and making strong silhouettes in the overall values of the piece.

In this tutorial we go over the quickest way to draw rocks and stones, and all it takes is just three basic principals to make great rocks and textures. You can draw these rocks in comics, sketches, rough drafts, and every day doodles. It doesn't matter where or when, as long as you handle your lines and shapes properly you'll be able to quickly draw as many rocks or stones as you need. This isn't a tutorial on how to paint rocks (that'll come later) but the principals I go over translates to painting almost perfectly, minus the values and color.

Making a GIF can vary in difficulty, from easy to complicated. Making a transparent GIF is about the same. Usually, when animating or creating a GIF, it's best to consider if you want it to be transparent from the beginning so that way you can make it how you want it. But sometimes, we don't think that far ahead or find a GIF we'd like to take the background off of. Digitally painting scifi and fantasy, for me, go hand in hand. I love painting Destiny 2 and the like, but I also REALLY love painting some of the more classic scenes, painting a knight and a fire giant, for example. This is a painting in photoshop and it took somewhere close to 4-5 hours to finish, so it was sped up just a little to fit in my "2 hours" I typically do for these slower videos. This piece isn't really based off anything in particular, I just really wanted practice on how to paint fire giants and I love painting knights. I figured they'd match up in an interesting way.

After the release of Destiny 2's Shadowkeep, season of undying trailer (the one we finally got to see in game) Myelin Games and myself got hard at work to create this painting of the vex rising from the depths into the black garden for their Garden of Salvation raid. This piece took somewhere close to 10 hours real time so it was sped up to fit into my "2 hours" window by a bit.
As some of you destiny 2 lore folks know, the vex inhabit the black garden and they've been there since destiny (the original) just doing their thing. Now in season of undying, we were shown in the trailer that we're finally going back (and it's freaking GORGEOUS, always one of my favorite spots in the franchise) to take part in the Garden of Salvation raid, the raid we got in shadowkeep. Look forward to all the vexy pieces I'll be making from that raid by the way! I've already got some pieces cooking!

Now I do almost all of my painting in photoshop, but all of these art tips can be used for traditional art as well. When learning how to draw faster, often times some of the biggest things that get in our way or distract us are almost as troublesome and not using the right tools or forgetting important steps. So we go over a few key pieces of advice myself and many artists use when trying to create artwork faster. Improving your art skills through practice is obviously hugely important, but external factors in our life can effect the speed and efficiency of our work almost just as much.
