"Singer Presents ... Elvis", commonly referred to as the "'68 Comeback Special", is an Elvis Presley concert special that aired on NBC-TV on December 3, 1968. It marked Presley's return to live performance after a seven-year period during which he focused on his film appearances.

The concert was initially planned as a Christmas special by the network and Presley's manager, Colonel Tom Parker. Producer Bob Finkel hired director Steve Binder, who, rather than creating a Christmas special, created a concert that would reflect the musical trends of the time and appeal to a younger audience.

Filmed in June 1968 at NBC Studios in Burbank, California, the special included a "live" sit-down session that showcased Presley in an informal setting, surrounded by fans and a small band, and a few musical numbers. It ended with the now acclaimed rendition of "If I Can Dream".

The special received positive reviews and topped the Nielsen television ratings for the week in which it aired. It became the most-watched show of the television season, earning 42% of the television audience.

Later known as the Comeback Special, it relaunched Presley's singing career.

Here we bring you the TV program as aired with ads. We hope you like it.

"ELVIS [NBC-TV Special]" is the 26th soundtrack album by Elvis Presley at RCA.
It was released on RCA Victor, catalog number LSP/LPM 4088, on November 22, 1968.
It represents the soundtrack album for the namesake TV program aired on December 3, 1968.

After 11 years doing movies that'd get more and more mediocre with time, Elvis got a little break from Hollywood's claw in late 1967.
To let him vent his frustration off outside the filming studios, a Christmas special was comissioned after the Colonel made a deal with NBC-TV and ensured sponsoring from the Singer Sewing Machine Company.
The initial idea was just to have Elvis singing Christmas songs for 1 hour, something that didn't really appeal to the TV station and angered Presley.
After talking to Parker, NBC convivned him to let the program be centered totally on Elvis and hired director Steve Binder, who agreed with that and felt even more was needed.
Going over Parker and right to Elvis, Binder presented an innovative idea for the show and the premise to bring the King of Rock back - Presley agreed with no questions.

Filming of the program and recording of the soundtrack began on June 20 and ended on the 30th.
Both the TV program and the soundtrack album presented 10 live songs, the first time RCA ever released any extensive Elvis concert bits (apart from "Tiger Man" on "Singer Presents Elvis Singing Flaming Star and Others" released a month earlier).
Other 11 songs wwhere studio recordings and two were a mix of studio and live recordings.

RCA was able to compile the 23 tracks into a single 45-minute, 7-track LP.
The album peaked at #8 on the Billboard 200; along with the TV special, it revitalized Presley's career after years of diminishing commercial and critical success.
It was certified Gold on July 22, 1969 and Platinum on July 15, 1999 by the RIAA.

Here we bring you the full 1968 LP. We hope you like it. Enjoy!

Months before Elvis' appearance on TV for the first time in 8 years, Colonel Parker had made a deal with NBC-TV and the Singer Sewing Machine Company to produce an Elvis TV show.
Parker wanted an old fashioned Christmas program like Bing Crosby's or Frank Sinatra's, but both Elvis and NBC felt it wouldn't appeal to the masses.
While working on bringing Steve Binder to the project, NBC proposed a different setlist to Parker. For everybody's surprise, he went with it as long as the show would end with a Christmas song.
This concept was dropped instantly when Binder arrived.

Here we bring you the original concept for the 1968 NBC-TV Special "ELVIS". We hope you like it. Enjoy!

"Singer Presents Elvis Sings Flaming Star and Others" is a compilation album by Elvis Presley at RCA.
It was released promotionally on RCA Camden, catalog number PRS 279, on October 18, 1968.

As the end of 1968 approached, RCA and NBC-TV were enthusiastic with the "ELVIS" program that would air on December 3.
Singer Sewing Machine Company had sponsored the show and asked for some kind of promotion both of the program and their products.
RCA then comissioned a compilation LP to be sold in selected stores with a few movie soundtrack songs and named it "Singer Presents Elvis Sings Flaming Star and Others".

The 9 selections in the LP were up to 8 years old and had a very welcome concept: Only the title track, "Flaming Star", had been previously released.
Seven tracks were songs that either didn't have a place in a soundtrack album, weren't used in the films, weren't released for not being "sellable" or were recording sessions leftovers.
The ninth and last track was a live version of "Tiger Man", recorded during the filming of the "Comeback Special"; this was Elvis' first live performance to ever be released.

This promotional album spent five months available only at select retail stores featuring products by the Singer Sewing Machine Company.
It was reissued for normal retail channels as "Elvis Sings Flaming Star" on RCA Camden catalog number CAS 2304, on March 28, 1969, becoming the first Elvis Presley budget album.
The 1969 release peaked at number 96 on the US Billboard 200 chart and number 1 on the Dutch and UK Albums Chart. Due to its success, RCA elected to release several budget albums through Camden in the following years.
It was certified Gold on July 15, 1999, and Platinum on January 6, 2004, by the Recording Industry Association of America.

Here we bring you the full 1968/69 LP and the surviving bits of its recording sessions. We hope you like it. Enjoy!

"Live a Little, Love a Little" and "Charro!" would be 1968/69 soundtrack albums by Elvis Presley at RCA, if released.
They would represent the soundtrack for the namesake films released in 1968 and 1969.
"Live a Little, Love a Little" was released worldwide on Follow That Dream, catalog number 506020 975088, in November 2015.
"Charro!" was released worldwide on CD as "The Last Movies" on Follow That Dream, catalog number 506020 975116, in October 2017 and on LP, catalog number 506020 975121, in June 2018.

As the last Elvis movies didn't really have a lot of songs, RCA again didn't comission a soundtrack album for it.
The 6 songs in the movies were released as singles or on budget albums over the next two years.
In 2015 and 2017 FTD brought the unreleased album to the public for the first time.

Here we bring you the full 1968 unreleased album, plus a few bonuses. We hope you like it. Enjoy!

"Elvis Sings Guitar Man" would be a 1968 compilation album by Elvis Presley at RCA, if released.
The album was released worldwide on Follow That Dream, catalog number 506020 975021 2, in April 2011.

Starting in May 1966, Elvis recorded 14 standalone Masters from there until September 1967.
They were used as singles and extras on soundtrack LPs before RCA realized that they could very well compose a vibrant compilation album.
But after wasting the potential of such recordings, the recording company decided to leave the project aside in 1968, even after having already worked on a tracklist and a cover.
In 2011 FTD brought the original album to the public for the first time as planned by RCA.

Here we bring you the full 1968 unreleased album, plus a few bonuses. We hope you like it. Enjoy!

"Speedway" is the 25th and last soundtrack album by Elvis Presley at RCA.
It was released on RCA Victor, catalog number LSP / LPM 3989, on May 1, 1968.
It represents the soundtrack album for the namesake film released that year.

By the beginning of 1968, it was clear that Elvis' soundtrack albums had reached rock bottom.
The recording sessions for his new soundtrack LP were held at MGM studios in Hollywood, something that pointed to its slow death.

Eight tracks were recorded, with "Suppose", the only song that held interest for Elvis, dropped from the movie.
"Your Time Hasn't Come Yet Baby" and "Let Yourself Go" were issued as singles, both making the lower reaches of the Billboard Hot 100 and bombing sales-wise.
"There Ain't Nothing Like a Song," rejected from "Spinout", and "Your Groovy Self". both featuring lead vocals by Nancy Sinatra, were recorded at a separate session on June 26.
Three leftover tracks, including one from the May 1963, were unearthed to round out the album.

"Speedway" took over the new low for chart position and album sales by Elvis, selling fewer than 100,000 copies, and jeopardizing his recording career.
Much to his relief, it killed the soundtrack formula, this being the final Presley feature film to have a soundtrack album.
It was also the last Presley album to be released in both stereo and mono editions as mono was being phased out by the industry, thus making its rare mono pressing (LPM-3989) a collectors item.
The LP peaked at number 82 on the Billboard 200.

Here we bring you the full 1968 LP and the surviving bits of its recording sessions. We hope you like it. Enjoy!

"Stay Away, Joe" would be a 1968 soundtrack album by Elvis Presley at RCA, if released.
It would represent the soundtrack album for the namesake film released that year.
The album was released worldwide on Follow That Dream, catalog number 506020 975056, on May 8, 2013.

As the movie only featured 4 songs and Elvis' EP releases had been killed over a year before it hit the theaters, RCA decided to not create a soundtrack album for an Elvis film for the first time in 12 years.
Only the opening credits song, "Stay Away", was released at the time to promote the movie. As the other songs didn't have any selling potential, the single's B-side was a recording sessions leftover, "U. S. Male".
Apart from "All I Needed Was the Rain" and "Stay Away, Joe" were shelved and released on budget albums over the next two years. "Dominic" would only be released in 1994.
In 2013 FTD brought the unreleased album to the public for the first time.

Here we bring you the full 1968 unreleased album, plus the surviving recordings sessions and a bonus. We hope you like it. Enjoy!

"Elvis' Gold Records, Volume 4" is a hits compilation album by Elvis Presley at RCA.
It was released only on RCA Victor, catalog number LSP / LPM 3921, on January 8, 1968.

Although he had remained a popular artist since the release "Elvis' Golden Records, Volume 3" (1963), placing eight albums in the Top Ten and 17 singles in the Top 40 Presley's sales had cooled off since his heyday.
The compilation album "Elvis for Everyone!" (1965) was his first to sell under 300,000 copies, and his last five soundtrack albums had all done progressively worse in the marketplace, units shifted dropping to under 200,000.
Singles were no longer reaching the Top 40 automatically, and while his recent single "Big Boss Man" sold 350,000, that fell short of the needed 500,000 to qualify for gold status in US singles sales.

RCA then comissioned a fourth hits album to try and increase its selling revenue, but it failed to do it even with the compilation spamming through 8 years of hits.
Usually a guaranteed seller, this volume sold only 400,000 copies; better than his recent soundtrack albums, but well off the mark set by its three predecessors.
The Colonel's ignorance of popular music trends and styles and Elvis' unwavering loyalty to Parker were ruining Presley's career.

Here we bring you the full 1968 LP and a few bonuses. We hope you like it. Enjoy!

"Clambake" is the 24th soundtrack album by Elvis Presley at RCA.
It was released only on RCA Victor, catalog number LSP / LPM 3893, on October 10, 1967.
It represents the soundtrack album for the namesake film released that year.

By the end of 1966, Presley was fed up with the songs he was obligated to record.
When the recording sessions for his new soundtrack began in February 1967, he had little enthusiasm and the project was already in jeopardy before it started.

Of the eight songs recorded, two had been edited out of the film, and even with "How Can You Lose What You Never Had" restored to the soundtrack, that left an album of merely seven songs.

All realms of popular music had totally bypassed him during the 1960s while he had been "lost in Hollywood", so Presley decided to begin recording music written by accomplished songwriters.
A session to record additional material in Hollywood was scheduled at RCA Studio B in September; from it, "Big Boss Man" and "Guitar Man" became hit singles.

But even with five popular non-soundtrack songs in its tracklist, "Clambake" peaked at No. 40 on the Billboard 200 and faired worst than its preecessor "Double Trouble".
With it, the soundtrack album days were coming to an end.

Here we bring you the full 1967 LP and the surviving bits of its recording sessions. We hope you like it. Enjoy!

"Easy Come, Easy Go and Songs From Other Elvis Films" is a soundtrack album by Elvis Presley at RCA.
It was released only in New Zealand on RCA Victor, catalog number RPLS 3414, in July 1967.

While RCA Victor US was still pondering about Elvis' EPs, most of its other branches had already abandoned the format.
This was New Zealand's case, as RCA had decided to end their Elvis' EPs after "Easy Come, Easy Go" reached stores and before it was released there.
RCA New Zealand then decided to expand the originally mediocre 6-tracks EP into a full LP. And not only that, they also made available some songs the public really wanted to hear from other consacrated movies.

Here we bring you the full 1967 New Zealander LP. We hope you like it. Enjoy!
