French champion Paris Saint-Germain edged out Lyon on penalty kicks to win a tightly contested last edition of the League Cup on Friday and complete a domestic treble, denying Lyon its first trophy since the French Cup in 2012.

The match finished 0-0 and Lyon was a save away from winning it, leading 5-4 in the shootout.
But Neymar held his nerve well, slotting the ball into the bottom corner to draw PSG level and Lyon winger Bertrand Traore’s subsequent penalty was saved by Keylor Navas.

Winger Pablo Sarabia confidently placed the next penalty past goalkeeper Anthony Lopes to give PSG the win to follow up on last Friday’s 1-0 win against Saint-Etienne in the French Cup. Join with this link: http://wix.to/BMByC88. Got the app? Use the invite code: DMAD6P

Buena onda entre Di María, Icardi y Keylor! El PSG se prepara para la final de la Copa de la Liga, mañana, ante Lyon.

Neymar "could easily claim" three Ballon d'Or awards before he retires, according to Rivaldo, who says the Paris Saint-Germain star is on track to "become the best in the world".

After four successful seasons at Barcelona, Neymar became the most expensive player in history when he completed a €222 million (£200m/$260m) move to PSG in the summer of 2017.

The 28-year-old has since scored 70 goals in 81 appearances for the club, while picking up three Ligue 1 winners' medals.

The Brazilian scored on the rebound in the 14th minute after PSG fellow forward Kylian Mbappe sprinted clear and saw his shot blocked by goalkeeper Jessy Moulin, with only 5,000 fans in the 80,000-seater Stade de France due to strict health protocols.

Earlier, French President Emmanuel Macron had met the players on the pitch but kept his distance and wore a face mask.

The atmosphere in the run-up to the first professional game in France after the long hiatus was far from festive with only a handful of people around the stadium before the match.

The contest got off to an eventful start with Yvann Macon felling Neymar in the opening seconds to earn a yellow card and St Etienne’s Denis Bouanga hitting the post in the fifth minute. PSG trailed 2-1 from the first leg in Germany, raising the possibility of a fourth straight elimination in the last-16 stage.

Neymar headed in from a corner in the 28th minute and left back Juan Bernat made it 2-0 just before the break. PSG reached the last eight for the first time since 2016. The club has only reached the semifinals once, in 1995.

Dortmund hardly resembled the side which dominated the first leg, and midfielder Emre Can was sent off near the end after shoving Neymar over.

It led to pushing and shoving from players on each side. Neymar was shown a yellow card as was teammate Ángel Di María, even though he was off the field.

Champions League second leg between Paris Saint-Germain and Borussia Dortmund will be played behind closed doors due to virus fears.

Kylian Mbappé's hat trick and Neymar's assured penalty helped Paris Saint-Germain win 5-1 at Lyon on Wednesday to reach a sixth straight French Cup final.
Winger Pablo Sarabia added the other goal for PSG, which lost last year's final to Rennes on penalty kicks. Rennes is at struggling Saint-Étienne in Thursday's second semifinal.
Mbappé's second goal, with 20 minutes remaining, came in the form of a stunning run from deep inside his half followed by a sharp move inside a bamboozled defender and a firm strike past goalie goalkeeper Anthony Lopes. His first and third goals were tap-ins.
Neymar sent Lopes the wrong way from the spot with a staggered run-up after Lyon defender Marcal needlessly conceded the penalty. He handled Mbappé's cross from the left, which was destined for Edinson Cavani, and was sent off for a second yellow card. Song: AWN - We Know

Neymar is set to return for Paris Saint-Germain against Borussia Dortmund as the French champion tries to end its three-year run of defeats in the Champions League’s last 16.

The Brazilian forward has missed four games with a rib injury, most recently the 4-4 league draw with Amiens on Saturday.

But coach Thomas Tuchel told a news conference on Monday that Neymar is fit again and will play, unless he has a setback in training.

Kylian Mbappe hugged a child who ran on to the pitch and signed an autograph in the closing stages of Paris St-Germain's win over Amiens.

As the game entered injury time, a young boy ran on to the pitch with stewards chasing after him.

But Mbappe - who had scored two goals - walked off the Parc des Princes field with the crying boy and signed a book he produced from his coat.

Neymar and Mauro Icardi also scored in the comfortable PSG win.

Mbappe, who turned 21 on Friday, ran on to Neymar's through ball to clip the ball over goalkeeper Regis Gurtner and score for his seventh game in a row.

Neymar smashed home a loose ball from six yards out to score in his fifth consecutive PSG match - and Mbappe got his second with a first-time strike.

Stiven Mendoza scored a consolation before Icardi's late strike.

France international Mbappe finishes 2019 with 31 Ligue 1 goals in 29 games.

Champions PSG go into Christmas seven points clear of second-placed Marseille, who beat Nimes 3-1.

Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar has declared himself fit to play following his recent injury layoff, saying he expects to be ready for the upcoming clash with Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League.

Mauro Icardi scored the only goal and Keylor Navas saved a second-half penalty as Paris Saint-Germain edged out Club Brugge 1-0 to secure their place in the knockout phase of the Champions League with two group matches to spare on Wednesday.

Argentine striker Icardi's close-range finish in the first half at the Parc des Princes was his eighth goal in PSG's last seven matches and it was enough to give the French champions a fourth win in as many outings in Group A.

However, their opponents played well enough to take something from the game and would have done so had Navas not stopped Mbaye Diagne's 76th-minute spot-kick.

Despite failing to convince here -- two weeks after a 5-0 victory when the sides met in Belgium -- PSG know they will appear in the last 16 for the eighth consecutive season, and a draw in their next game away to Real Madrid will ensure that they progress as winners of Group A.

Real are also on the verge of qualifying themselves after a 6-0 hammering of Galatasaray on Wednesday.
