The fundaments of a Westfrisian burg/castle, last in use in the 13th century, were discovered underwater, near the village Wijdenes. This find has great relevance for Oera Linda studies, as old burgs mentioned in the manuscript may originally have lied on locations different from current (more landinwards) coastal towns with the same name, like Medemblik and Stavoren, explaining why their remains have thus far not been found.
